Pre-Christmas 22 Boot Camp Week 5: in the 2nd half

prettybird · 14/11/2022 08:24

Here we are into Week 5, the 2nd half . Hopefully you’ll have got beyond the “Stall” period of Weeks 3 and 4, but be aware, it sometimes it lasts into Week 5. Shock

Keep the faith, keep focussed, keep drinking the water and you will see progress.Smile Remember all the other benefits you're enjoying Halo

The challenge this week is to start doing little things in preparation for Christmas Xmas Smile. That way, we can relax when Christmas arrives as we’ve got every ready in advance in our dreams Xmas Wink. If you don’t want to do that yet because it’s too soon, why not do something that has been on your list of “To Dos” for ages and you’ve procrastinated so never quite got round to it. You’ll feel so much better once you’ve done them Grin

@FinallyHere will be along shortly to link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and also to the sparkling new thread that links to all the recipe threads. There are sooooo many tasty recipes, so we can enjoy our food Grin

Morning!

Do we have a smug emoticon? I have just about finished my Christmas shopping, and it's just about all wrapped/labelled as well! Halo

Good morning lovely bootcamper, here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

and to the low carb recipe threads

Newlease · 14/11/2022 08:55

Good Morning!! 1/2 lbs lost! I was expecting a bit more, but would have been better if I was sticking with 3L water every day !!

prettybird · 14/11/2022 08:55

I think the Halo does well as a smug emoticon @BIWI Wink

I'll try to be pleased for you rather than simply jealous Xmas Grin

4lbs off this week. It means I’ve achieved my mini goal of getting into the 250’s and I still stand a chance of getting under 250lbs which was my main goal for bootcamp.

A little Christmas prep done here but as the kids mainly want cash there isn’t that much to do.

prettybird · 14/11/2022 09:15

Some good losses being recorded FlowersStar. And if you haven't lost or not lost as much as you'd like, KOKO, drink the water and the results will come Smile

I managed to get to bed before midnight last night again - but didn't manage to get to sleep for ages, which is not normally a problem I experience Confused

I'm going to continue with trying to get to bed before midnight - it's good for me Smile

Wow well done BIWI. I haven't even started my Christtmas shopping!

2lbs down here. Very pleased as I stayed the same for 2 weeks so happy the scales are moving again. And I'm into a new stone boundary, wahoo.

I enjoyed the Christmas food planning/thinking helpful on the last thread. I'm going to decide my approach nearer the time. I find any deviation from rules can lead me to anarchy so I expect I will try and stick to bootcamp light throughout the Christmas period. I'm in charge of catering so can make tonnes of celeriac dauphinoise, shoogled sprouts, and stock up on all the cheeses to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Hope everyone has had a good week and bring on the second half!

BIWI · 14/11/2022 09:44

@HaveGogglesWillTravel It's a definite advantage of being retired! When I was working, this time of the year used to be insanely busy - and often with international travel too. So it could get very stressy and panicky at home, trying to sort out gift-buying and cooking prep, etc

ListenLinda · 14/11/2022 10:16

Another lb off for me, hoping for a few more next week as it’s my works xmas party next Friday!

Just had a call that my sainsburys order can’t be delivered so can I go collect it… I have nothing for breakfast in the house so i’m having a coffee with cream and going for it!

hope to see some more fab losses this week!

Sunsnowsun · 14/11/2022 10:28

Morning 2lbs off for me, which I am happy with . I have 2.5 lbs to go for my bootcamp goal, so going to focus on that for this week. Congratulations to all those who are seeing the scales move in the downward direction.

I am jealous @BIWI 😂 , I’m going with a bit at a time approach this year, which has always worked well in the past. I have a small pile of presents growing steadily. I need to be all sorted by the 17th December this year as we are going away for Christmas, so that is definitely focusing my mind. I am also seeing that this is very similar to weight loss, ie take it a bit at a time and you will get there.

ditavonteesed · 14/11/2022 10:35

4lbs down for me. Very pleased.

I started Christmas prep at the eeekend, dh is going to see in-laws at the end of the month so I bought all their pressies to go with him so I don't have to post anything.

prettybird · 14/11/2022 11:37

My db has just announced that he is coming across from France with his family for a week at Christmas (staying with my dad). It will be the first time we've seen the rest of his family since (I think) 2017 when they moved to France Shock

Won't be able to have them over for our main Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve (Danish custom via my dad's mum) as we already have ds' girlfriend (for whom I'll have to make a veggie main dish) and SIL and her family - and there is no way we can fit 12 (or possibly 14 - depends on whether niece brings her boyfriend) around the table Xmas Shock. Well, we could possibly do it if we used the kitchen table as an extension but it would be incredibly squashed. And more importantly, it would stress dh out too much Xmas Hmm I'd actually be ok as I'm already used to cooking a turkey, a ham on the bone, a gazillion roasties and veg, plenty of tomato soup and a giant portion of Danish rice pudding (sweet risotto with chopped almonds, one whole almond and whipped cream) Xmas Grin In fact the only "extra" is the veggie main dish for ds's girlfriend Xmas Wink.

So it looks like we won't see my dad on Christmas Eve as they'll have their Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve at my dad's place. But we should sort something out for Christmas Day (although ds will be driving over to his girlfriend's place for his 2nd Christmas Dinner Xmas Grin

Any ideas what I can get 12 year old boy/girl twins for Christmas that can pack easily as they're flying? Xmas Confused I'm hoping that he's checking at least one bag in Xmas Hmm

2lb off this week, and things are definitely feeling looser and more comfortable.

prettybird · 14/11/2022 13:21

That's fabulous @debka Flowers

How's the dodgy tummy after the battered fish?

prettybird · 14/11/2022 14:19

My task today, should I decide to accept it Wink, is to get together the fruit for the Christmas cake and soak it overnight.

x 2 as I've offered to make my dad one (although his has to be called a "birthday cake" as his birthday is Christmas Day).

OP posts:
ZiggZagg · 14/11/2022 17:49

Not jealous of @BIWI being retired!

3 court reports today so worked non stop but I've put 2lb on (damn chocolate cake!)

Onwards and downwards!

I've drank lots of water and had a slice of cheeseburger pie for lunch.

I've still lost 15lbs this bootcamp so I literally can't be sad!

I want to lose 9lbs before Xmas but I'm really not stressing myself out over it, 9lbs would take me into the next stone bracket.

prettybird · 14/11/2022 18:06

@ZiggZagg - I have an even more challenging ambition than you Shock but I'm not going to beat myself up if I don't achieve it Grin

It wasn't helped by my dad serving me up a chorizo, black pudding and lentil stew last nightHmm He did fish out the potatoes for me though Wink There was garlic bread (which I didn't have) and a green salad (with croutons - which I picked out) alongside. The stew was very tasty though - even though I couldn't avoid the lentils Grin

I'll weigh in tomorrow or Wednesday Smile

ZiggZagg · 14/11/2022 18:20

@prettybird I think it's nice to have goals but as I get older I give myself less of a hard time if I don't achieve them as quickly as I want. I'm glad I'm this way now though, a few years ago I would have taken a 2lb gain and stuffed my face because I wouldn't see the point in not losing every week! Now I look at the bigger picture! Halo

prettybird · 14/11/2022 18:27

Ditto @ZiggZagg Halo

My Christmas action for today: soaking the fruit in brandy/ginger wine/vanilla brandy overnight Xmas Smile

Plus I've done a tiny bit of throwing away stuff (mainly old papers and catalogues, as I tend to dump them in there Blush) in our bedroom. Next step will be to take the piles of clothes that I've already gathered (including ds' clear out) to the charity shop.

Your fruit looks wonderful @prettybird. I'm in the minority in our house when it comes to Christmas cake but I do like a small amount so I've bought a bar of cake from Lidl for myself. I'd like a home made one but getting a sufficiently small cake to not be dry was concerning me.

prettybird · 14/11/2022 19:55

Fortunately dh and ds unusually for a young man love fruit cake Xmas Grin

My dad will probably pass over some of his cake back to us if db and his family don't finish the one I'm baking for him.

1.6lb down and happy with that. (Weighed on Friday)

NSV - I bought a jacket 6 weeks or so ago and the bottom button would just do up but was a bit tight. I was worried the button would pop off so left it open. Wore it at the weekend and ALL buttons did up easily!

Had LC cauliflower broccoli and cheese with kimchi stew for dinner. Love this LC food.

Which reminds me - ate out at the weekend, Greek, and was very proud of myself for having a selection of mezze. Then remembered afterwards that taramasalata has bread in it! AngrySneaky, and unnecessary IMHO.

Love reading the selfcare ideas. I am trying to allow myself 20mins shut eye after lunch. Still quite knackered with peri, and find that 15mins helps me be more productive in the afternoon.

Great to see the SV & NSVs.

prettybird · 14/11/2022 22:12

What a lovely positive post @agnesmartin Smile

Congratulations on the loss - but more so the jacket that now fits properly Grin

Wasn't aware that taramasalata had bread in it Shock: I knew that skordalia, although delicious, is out of bounds as it's essentially just mashed potato, lots of garlic and some olive oil. Tzatziki is good though Halo I make a mean home made one with salted grated cucumber (left to drain and squished to get out excess moisture), a shedload of crushed/finely chopped garlic, Greek yoghurt and a squoosh of lemon juice and a wee bit of olive (and some chopped mint if you can be bothered Wink) Grin
