Morning all

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

So our last week. Still time to drop a pesky pound or two. Or four or five if you're @Jollyholibobs DH!

And welcome to @WantSomeEqualitea - unfortunately you've joined us right at the end, but we always have a chat thread going, so there will be plenty of us here to support you, and answer any questions that you have. Just because Bootcamp finishes after this week doesn't mean that we stop low carbing either, so there are always other Bootcampers to 'share your journey' with.

I started a week early so yesterday was my Sunday was my last day of BC. I am going to keep it going until Thursday though but I then have a 3 day family wedding.
I am down 12lbs in 3 weeks, most of it in the first 2 week of strict BC.
I am delighted with how it all went though as I managed 4 mini breaks, a weekend end at a festival and several meals out while sticking to BC lite and maintaining.
I will definitely do the next BC which will probably be a much calmer time for me. I don’t usually have as much on.

@ChimneyPot 12lb in 3 weeks is brilliant! Keep going, that's a fabulous loss.

I have been investigating LC baking and realise there is a whole new would out there. I am itching to try the recipe I found for chocolate avocado cake - will do it for a Macmillan coffee morning I am going to, will report back.

I am definitely going to try the tortilla chops recipe I found, too... again, will report.

Since I discovered LC bread, I realise I am quite happy with that as a permanent swap. It's lush.

My relationship with scales is a tricky one. When I used to weigh quite regularly, an unhappy result would often precipitate a binge.

This time round, I've been bootcamping since January 2022 have gone down several dress sizes and only use the fancy scales at work, and then only once a month so that I only see the trend, which has been a gratifying 20kgs / 44lbs over 31 wks.

I was at a friend's house this evening when they produced a surprise chocolate cake for someone's birthday. It was awkward to decline a slice, but I did, and now feel really quite proud of myself.

I still can hardly believe I turned down chocolate cake! 😮😮😮

ditavonteesed · 14/09/2022 05:57

Well tonight went very wrong, someone had taken my dinner out of the fridge at work and it was all meat and dairy so I had to bin the lot. I'm so hungry. I had to eat carbs as no other food available.

Sunsnowsun · 14/09/2022 09:03

@ditavonteesed so sorry about your dinner, I can just imagine how frustrating that must have been, hopefully 1 lot of carbs won’t be too bad.

I have lost another 1lb this week, interestingly have had lots of fluid retention this week,so have been very up and down on the scales, which I suspect is down to a ready meal that I just ate the meat part of but was too high in additives. One day I was 2lbs down, then next 2 lbs up !!

Anyway, I have tried to ignore the scales and just koko and am pleased to say the downward trend has resumed.

I started boot camp in about week 3 or 4, and am delighted to say that I have now lost 7lbs. I can definitely see it with slightly looser clothes etc. I still have at least another 7lbs to go so I’m just going to carry on, am hoping to be able to fit into all of my clothes, not just the ones that are more roomy.

BIWI · 14/09/2022 09:37

Some amazing results here! A stone in 5 weeks @PennyPinkPineapple is brilliant. And 12lbs in 3weeks @ChimneyPot!

And as for you @FinallyHere - truly amazing.

If anyone is ever in any doubt about how sustainable this WOE is, go and read any of the threads started in the Weight Loss topic - not many of those (or those posters) last for 8 weeks. And instead of posts about all the lovely food that can be enjoyed, they tend to sound much more miserable and about their deprivation. Something that we really shouldn't be feeling when we're low carbing.

Unless someone's taken your food out of the fridge of course Shock - really sorry to hear that @ditavonteesed

0.5lb off for me this week,12.7lbs this bootcamp so very happy with the loss BUT I need to confess. I don't know what came over me yesterday, I binge ate for the first time in months. All relatively low carb but I feel like crap today. I'm so annoyed at myself but I guess I should be pleased that I didn't eat the sugary treats that everyone else in the house eats. I can't deny that I wasn't tempted but had half a bar of Lindt 90% chocolate instead

WantSomeEqualitea · 14/09/2022 14:10

There's some great losses and progress on here, well done everyone!

I managed to navigate lunch out today which I was rather worried about but had a delicious cheese and broccoli fritata and salad.

Jollyholibobs · 14/09/2022 14:43

@ditavonteesed thats so annoying. I’d be furious!
well done on cake swerve @Lucienandjean

Just off on holiday today but good to hear quite a few of us with conviction to keep going after the end of bootcamp. Hoping to stick with it on holiday. It’s buffet meals so should be able to pick the good stuff.

B Black coffee IF
L tuna, egg and anchovies salad at Heathrow.
D what I pick out of the airline meal. Not optimistic.

Have packed my tape measure to have an alternative to daily weighing. We shall see how that goes.

BIWI · 14/09/2022 15:59

@loopylu26 don't beat yourself up - these things do happen. And on the positive side, you did avoid the sugary treats!

Put it behind you and move on. Flowers

@loopylu26

for the first time in months

It's not the falling off the waggon that matters, but how soon you draw a line snd clamber back on again.

It sounds as if you kept it in control, Lindt 90% is a good shout. Welcome back.

My 'time to get back on board' has been known to be of the order of years ☺️. Don't be like me, jump back on immediately and put it all behind you

That's a great skill to have in your arsenal.

@ditavonteesed so sorry that happened to you. Find lots of water to drink to help you flush out all the carbs.

FinallyHere · 14/09/2022 16:03

@WantSomeEqualitea

delicious cheese and broccoli fritata and salad.

Great call. I love being able to navigate treats and meals out completely in compliance with bootcamp. Only one of the reasons I feel so good on this way of eating.

loopylu26 · 15/09/2022 14:29

Thanks @BIWI and @FinallyHeremy head is in a much better space today, back on WOE and enjoying as usual.

Actually feeling proud of myself for not eating the whole bar of Lindt 90% although that would be a difficult task, even surprised I managed half a bar as it's so rich. Just as well I had it as I'd definitely have raided the boys' naughty cupboard which is always well stocked. The naughty cupboard was always my failed temptation but since bootcamp I don't even think about raiding it.

Very happy with a NSV today, blood pressure is high normal. Even on meds it's been high for months so this is fantastic as unlikely to have to increase my dosage. When I spoke to the Dr the other week he was a little skeptical about low carbing but told me to check back in 3 months' time when I have my annual medical.

Lougle · 16/09/2022 07:54

I've been maintaining over the course of this bootcamp but eating more than I needed to - I was slipping into eating beyond satisfaction and getting that uncomfortable fullness again.

I've adjusted my eating slightly (just finishing when satisfied) and over the last 10 days I've dropped 3¾ lbs, which has slipped me (fractionally) below 9st. Quite pleased, especially as I had a cheat day last Saturday because it was my birthday, so had some roast potatoes, and rhubarb and apple crumble with custard.

Lougle · 17/09/2022 14:49

Has my rhubarb crumble killed the thread? 😁

Lucienandjean · 17/09/2022 16:11

Can I ask when the next Bootcamp is likely to be?

BIWI · 17/09/2022 17:21

In all honesty @Lucienandjean, right now I'm a bit Bootcamped out! Usually I do one in the run up to Christmas, which would mean around the end of October, but I'm not sure I will this year.

OP posts:
Lucienandjean · 17/09/2022 17:39

Fair enough! I'm sure we all appreciate the effort you put into each BC, @BIWI.

BIWI · 17/09/2022 17:44

Thank you! My concern is always about having the energy to keep doing it.

But I'm on holiday shortly, so no doubt that will recharge the batteries Smile

OP posts:
Chocasaurus · 17/09/2022 21:08

@BIWI I was hoping you'd do a pre Christmas boot camp based on the dates of last year's BCs, but completely understand they must be a massive drain in your time. So thankful for all your help, wisdom and support this BC. Just back from my own holiday and determined to get right back to BC. Hope you have a fab holiday 😀

Sunsnowsun · 17/09/2022 21:54

@BIWI wishing you a fab holiday.

BIWI · 17/09/2022 21:58

Thank you both!

I'm sure I'l end up doing one before Christmas. I always end up giving in Grin

TBH it's harder when not many people join in and post. I know there are always lurkers, but when the threads are quiet it can be a bit dispiriting.

But generally pre-Christmas is a time when people become much more focused on their weight, so it's usually a busier one.

Lougle · 17/09/2022 22:03

Thanks for all you have done to help us since I joined bootcamp in May, @BIWI . Low-carb just seems like normal life now, but that's all because your rules were so simple and clear.

BIWI · 17/09/2022 22:06

I'm glad you feel that way @Lougle - that was exactly my intention. I created it for myself initially, because I'm a lazy arse! I had no idea that it would become such a 'thing'.
