Week 8 - July 22 Low Carb Bootcamp - the last week!

BIWI · 12/09/2022 09:07

Morning all

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

So our last week. Still time to drop a pesky pound or two. Or four or five if you're @Jollyholibobs DH!

And welcome to @WantSomeEqualitea - unfortunately you've joined us right at the end, but we always have a chat thread going, so there will be plenty of us here to support you, and answer any questions that you have. Just because Bootcamp finishes after this week doesn't mean that we stop low carbing either, so there are always other Bootcampers to 'share your journey' with.

Thanks BIWI! No worries on my late arrival I just wanted to start somewhere :)

Waves to @WantSomeEqualitea

This is my end point (always planned, as I go on holiday today). I haven’t weighed myself, but I am really pleased with how things have gone. I have got back in to two pairs of trousers that are both a dress size down, and have also technically got back into some work dresses, though I think I need to lose another half stone before they actually look right and don’t cling. I measured myself last week and I am down 5cm around my waist :) And I went up and downstairs multiple times yesterday afternoon and kept thinking how much easier it was than 7 weeks ago.

thank you @BIWI and everyone else for everything! See you on the chat thread when I get back!

sushinelove · 12/09/2022 11:03

Seem to have hit a plateau - not a pound off this week. Suppose it's not a pound on either so I'll take that as a win. Would be delighted if I could shift one this week and break into a new stone bracket Smile

BIWI · 12/09/2022 11:28

Brilliant @Whicker!

Hope you have a lovely holiday. I have one more week to go before we go, and I'm really looking forward to it.

OP posts:
BIWI · 12/09/2022 11:46

@sunshinelove it's not a plateau after only one week! And, as you say, at least you haven't gained.

KOKO - you know the drill!

OP posts:
BIWI · 12/09/2022 11:47

... and a really strict week could see you reach the whole stone!

Why not go back to full-on Bootcamp for this week?

Hi @WantSomeEqualitea (and everyone) I'm a just-starting-back-lowcarbing-lurker. I hope it is ok to creep in here at the back.

Thank-you for all the great ideas about meals and menus.

BIWI your bootcamp is inspirational.

CleanQueen123 · 12/09/2022 13:57

Another 1lb off this week. I'll KOKO and definitely be signing up for the next boot camp whenever that may be.

catwithflowers · 12/09/2022 18:47

Thanks so much as always BIWI, for all the effort you put into this thread. Very much appreciated 💐💐

Chocasaurus · 12/09/2022 19:21

Weighed in early as we are away, but 1lb off, taking me to my stone! Just hoping I don't put it all back on this week 😐

Ollieharriet · 12/09/2022 19:30

Hi all. Really struggled to get back on track since my hols and the pounds started creeping back. Just kept taking the easy options - scone here, sandwich there and in no time really began to feel bloated and just not great. I've been really organised the last few days and choosing better options. I really appreciate the group support. Thanks everyone

comfortablyfrumpy · 12/09/2022 23:07

STS this week... due a whoosh!

Have just found a lush recipe for low Carb tortilla chips.... I will take one for the team, try it out and report back :)

Merryoldgoat · 13/09/2022 09:27

Hi - can I join? I’ve been doing Keto for 6 weeks and have lost 15lb but loads more to go.

BIWI · 13/09/2022 09:31

You're very welcome @Merryoldgoat, although you join us in the last week! That said, I always keep a chat thread going between Bootcamps, so there's always someone around to chat with/ask questions of, etc.

Well done on your loss so far! Flowers

Thank you @BIWI

I know I'm late but I wanted to join a thread where people aren't going to keep telling me that I'm damaging myself with low carb when I'm demonstrably healthier 😂

I'll be here a while as I've got masses to lose so will definitely join the next one.

PennyPinkPineapple · 13/09/2022 09:44

Morning everyone! I forgot to check in yesterday, mainly because there was nothing to report as I stayed the same 😂

I'm a bit disappointed but have to remind myself that I am a whole stone lighter than I was 5 weeks ago. Also, my husband has lost 9lbs eating what I've been cooking. Amazing.

I'm glad to hear there is a KOKO/chat group because without it and @BIWI and her virtual stick I'm not sure I wouldn't slip into old eating habits again.

A big thanks @BIWI for all your help.

ChimneyPot · 13/09/2022 10:55

I started a week early so yesterday was my Sunday was my last day of BC. I am going to keep it going until Thursday though but I then have a 3 day family wedding.
I am down 12lbs in 3 weeks, most of it in the first 2 week of strict BC.
I am delighted with how it all went though as I managed 4 mini breaks, a weekend end at a festival and several meals out while sticking to BC lite and maintaining.
I will definitely do the next BC which will probably be a much calmer time for me. I don’t usually have as much on.

bandbsmummy · 13/09/2022 13:19

A good week here - 3.8lb off! This was after a gain last week but takes me to 10.5lb total. Really pleased.

Those of you who have been doing this long term, would you say you lost, plateaued, lost a bit more etc.? I'm worried about losing too quickly and it all coming back on. I have another 30lbs to lose.

prettybird · 13/09/2022 14:12

I definitely need to KOKO (and better Wink). I'm signing in to the final week at 12st 11lb, which, although 4.75lb less than I started BootCamp Smile at, is 2.25lb up from where I'd got to a few weeks ago Hmm

A bit too much wine and good food (albeit mostly low carb) Blush: we'd had our first dinner party for years a couple of weeks ago (with lots of wine Blush) and then it was ds' birthday at the weekend....Blush (I always take the view that I was the one doing the hard work x years ago in this case 22 years ago Grin)

I'm thinking of doing an egg fast and/or an extended fast sometime in the next few weeks Smile

I have a lot of work to do by Christmas Wink

ditavonteesed · 13/09/2022 16:23

I'm weighing tomorrow as I'm on nights so got the night bloats as well as the went away and totally off plan weekend add ins today. Currently 2.2 up from last week but also experience tells me I'll get that off with a few strict days. Also I'm going out twice this week so I know I need to get back on track before then.

BIWI · 13/09/2022 17:32

NEWS FLASH

The Low Carb Food Company is having to sell off its frozen foods, as they can no longer afford to trade in them (cost of dry ice/shortage of carbon dioxide/rising electricity prices).

some good discounts to be found here

I haven't tried much of their stuff, but just in case any of you are interested.

@bandbsmummy generally the pattern that we see - after a significant initial loss in the first couple of weeks - is a fairly steady progression over time. In the short term though, it isn't unusual to see a week or so of little or no loss, and then to see a sudden drop - usually around 3lbs. We call it the whoosh.

prettybird · 13/09/2022 17:47

Just checked: I was 12st 9.5lb at the start of last year's pre-Christmas Boot Camp (18 October). That's a minimum target for me to get to between now and then Grin

Technically, that's only 1.5lb between now and then but in practice, if I want to get to where I got by Christmas 2021, I'll need to be well on my way by then as I lost 6.75lb Shock in Week 1 of that Boot Camp, so I can rely on an initial whoosh like that this year Wink
