Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its last outing

I hope it’s been a successful experience for you all - and that the shorter Bootcamp has worked.

@ShagMeRiggins made me smile, if I could scary lopsided half grin

The idea of being subversive and doing dry February (28 days) during dry January, now that appeals to me Grin

So tomorrow's tasks are:

  • buy socks
  • write a funeral ceremony
  • make porcini mushroom stock
  • make nut and sage stuffing
  • buy mayonnaise (forgot to put it on the list)

venus I hope you are okay x
I fell over in the street a few month ago and hurt my wrist. It made me feel really old and quite vulnerable, which is not a feeling I'm used to. I hope you recover soon Flowers

Wishing you well Venus !

Hope everyone is well and had a peaceful time.

Our Christmas was definitely a period of 2 halves. Both dc were waiting for PCR results - one was here (hiding in their room), the other was alone in their own home. Dh and I spent a lot of time in the car delivering food (Christmas Eve tea, Christmas breakfast etc) so that we could all feel we were have some kind of wierd shared experience. There were lots of tears me included when lovingly prepared food offering was rejected on the doorstep

Eventually after 56 hours delay both tests were negative. We managed to get together for the last few hours and were 'giddy with delight'.

Feeling a bit emotionally wrung out and glad to return to more emotional stability today.

Food choices were OK, a couple of planned intentional delights (Oh glorious roast potato) but pleased to be back to my more normal fare. Made the excess cauli cheese into soup, which is delicious and filling and satisfying.

Brunch - coffee with cream; ham and cheese 'sandwiches'
Dinner - cauli-cheese soup; nut roast and salad

Jollyholibobs · 27/12/2021 11:02

Hi all,
Think I'm done with the Christmas food too. I do have some nice chocolates stashed away for my birthday and I will no doubt enjoy a few more alcoholic drinks before new year, but I'm generally feeling ready to get back to normal.
Can I ask if anyone else finds that their body now reacts quite badly when they deviate from low carb? I have had cramping feelings and nausea that is only now easing off. You don't know whether I have just been a bit under the weather or if my body is screaming at me to stop eating all the sugar!

BIWI · 27/12/2021 12:57

I suffer like that too @Aderyn21 - in my case, my IBS returns when I've had too many carbs (especially bread/wheat-based foods). Always reminds me that I'm much better off without them.

Yes. Me.

Not even sugar in the sweets sense (have avoided completely) but processed and natural sugars in carbohydrates—some stuffing, two roast potatoes—and forgive me but gravy of the flour kind.

It’s been three days f this and I’m having stomach rumbles (which really doesn’t happen with LCHF), plus strange intestinal behaviour.

It’s okay, it’s only been the last three days, but actually I don’t want to recreate this. My body clearly doesn’t want to either.

venusandChristmars · 27/12/2021 23:12

@Aderyn21 A small amount of cherry christmas pudding - fart fart fart fart fart fart fart fart fart ... (you get the picture)

Oneof the great blessings of this woe is the quietness of my gut. Internally and externally .

Aderyn21 · 27/12/2021 23:28

Sorry to hear you all suffer with this too. Am going food shopping tomorrow since I am now out of vegetables or anything resembling non Christmas food. Have gone to bed with yet more cramping since I couldn't face the supermarket today, even though I really needed to go. That'll teach me to be lazy!
It's a very weird feeling to have a hankering for salad! Grin

WildMaryBerriesWithBrandyCream · 28/12/2021 12:28

I have found the same things!

The quiet gut it a wonderful truth of the LC lifestyle. (I too suspect that too much wheat isn't good for my insides.)

Trying the Christmas treats has been interesting. It confirms things learned after previous bootcamps.

I was originally 100% a sweetooth and could happily have lived on sugary foods alone. My waist-size reflected this.

Now it turns out that
-I don't enjoy the sweets/chocs of Christmas- previous staples and passions of my high carb life - they seem bland and greasy. They are no longer 'wants' in life.
-Even breads/cakes are not moving me as I imagined they would. Eating them is not satisfying. They do make me hungry too.

I do still love my Mum's Christmas cake (lucky for family harmony) but will probably never eat a supermarket one again.

I have really enjoyed the festive period's allowance of carbier veg and lentils. Potatoes are still a passion that I'll need to be careful about.

It is likely that my future is LC -and it will eventually include a little carby veg and yearly feasts (Mum's Christmas cake).

ShagMeRiggins · 28/12/2021 14:40

My god, absolutely yes to all the farting. I’m annoying myself!

And yes to the salad—desperate for one with a sesame and soy dressing—woke up this morning craving just that.

Last night was more on track for me with a fondue feast. I avoided the tempura in oil completely and stuck to the broth with steak, prawns, and mushrooms, then used the cheese fondue for loss of raw cauliflower.

Also had a raclette on the go—because we’re basically over the top here—so even more ham and cheese and peppers and prosciutto types of tastes.

Another day or so like this and fingers crossed my gut will be happy again.

Also loathe feeling so lethargic, though that might just be cooking fatigue!

Aderyn21 · 28/12/2021 21:25

Made a lovely beef and veg stir fry - loads of vegetables. So nice to eat something with done vitamins in!
I'm out for dinner tomorrow and then back on my low carb properly.

ShagMeRiggins · 29/12/2021 14:08

Loads more energy today. The difference is rather stunning when thinking about how much processed carbs really slow me down (okay, and booze).

Have managed to lose another pound since last weigh-in, but what’s interesting is the Santa belly I’ve developed. A few more days with proper eating and all the WATER WATER WATER should help that along. It’s shocking how much processed carbs change my shape—if I ever want to disguise myself as a 7-months pregnant woman I’ll just have a bowl of stuffing with gravy. Sorted.

ZiggZagg · 29/12/2021 21:10

Hope all had a lovely Christmas, I'm sneaking back in and back to LCHF after seeing ALL of my good work destroyed since April! Right back to where I started in August 2020, so disappointed in myself!

I am resolute, I want that energy, the good food, the good mental health, the all round great feeling of this woe!

Have ordered lots of lovely low carb greens to start tomorrow, hoping to be well and truly back on track this year(2021 has been a flop!).

KOKO everyone and drink all the water Grin
