Week 8 - Our final week! - Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 06/12/2021 00:02

Evening/morning all

So this is our last week. It's been a shorter Bootcamp than normal, but I hope it's worked for you. Something a bit of an experiment too! Let me know (by PM) if it's worked or not worked for you.

As ever, here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

There are some seriously great results here!

We're now in the run up to Christmas, which I know can be very difficult if you're trying to maintain a low carb diet. But we will always have a chat thread going here, so please post if you need help or just want to vent.

And remember, of course, that we still have another week to wrest with the scales/the tape measure! Grin

Here's to a successful, final week Flowers

Thanks @BIWI. 1.2lb off for me this week.

Cant believe it is the last week already!!

Aderyn21 · 06/12/2021 07:18

Thanks Biwi. 2.5 off for me this week which is fab - must be all the panic water drinking at the weekend Grin
Am very happy, have lost 17lb this bootcamp. Going to try really hard not to blow it completely over Christmas!

BestIsWest · 06/12/2021 07:22

Thanks BIWI, another 3/4 inch off my waist and 1/4 off my hips. That’s about 5 inches off my waist since April and about 4 off my hips. I can see my legs and arms are thinner too.
I would still like to lose another 4 inches off both but I can see it is doable now.

mrshoho · 06/12/2021 07:43

Thanks so much BIWI. 1.1 down for me making just over 11 lbs this bootcamp. Had a busy weekend with 2 meals out. Went slightly off lchf but didn't go completely mad and kept up my water intake. I'm going to carry on this way for another couple of weeks as I was late getting started.

So glad I did this again. Well done to us all. Happy Christmas!

mrshoho · 06/12/2021 07:46

oops just realised final weigh on next week!

H1Drangea · 06/12/2021 08:04

Stayed the same , which I’m actually quite pleased about as it’s been a busy week with socialising
Booster update .. arm ached for 4 days , felt tearful and under the weather for a couple of days , but , it’s better than getting Covid ✅

Jollyholibobs · 06/12/2021 08:11

Slight increase this morning but 7.2lbs lost this boot camp. Thanks so much for doing this @BIWI. I’ve had a bit of a heavy food 3 days and will strict bootcamp for this last week to see if I can get below the half stone mark by next Monday. I saw that in the scales midweek. My main culprit is yoghurt. I know what to do.

Lovely cats @prettybird I hope the interfering neighbour desists.

Jollyholibobs · 06/12/2021 08:14

17lbs is amazing @Aderyn21 well done.

ShagMeRiggins · 06/12/2021 08:17

1lb down and happy for everyone’s losses. Can’t believe how short this Bootcamp is/has been!

Slow start this morning, trying to rally the energy to go downstairs for a coffee and water and maybe some chicken soup for breakfast...

Aderyn21 · 06/12/2021 08:20

Thank you jolly

H1Drangea · 06/12/2021 08:29

Re nails and splitting
Mine do that after shellac ( which like a fool I realised after I had shellac done again )
You just have to cut them short , and put nail oil on all the time ( like drinking water , water , water ) keep them short , and wait for the new nail to grow through
@Venus

prettybird · 06/12/2021 08:44

We kept the boys in overnight - let's just say, "Hell mend" any person who tries to keep one or other of them inside Grin. Siamese are very vocal and they were very active ALL NIGHT Hmm - taking it in turns to make themselves heard and to run amok Shock

My scales have decided to be really inconsistent: either showing 8 stone 5lb or 12 stone 7lb, neither of which I believe Confused They're good Salter scales too Hmm

kerkyra · 06/12/2021 09:29

I have lost a lb in the last month! Going to keep going until Christmas and know, like BIWI said, that it will be slow.
Week 12 for me and have found a pic taken on September 9th doing karaoke with some friends,a stone lighter. Thought I'd do a comparison pic in the same clothes!

Fantastic progress @kerkyra - very motivating, for all of us.

kerkyra · 06/12/2021 10:07

Yes,just a stone,I'm very tall remember 😄

I fell off the diet on Friday,I drove miles away to stay with a friend in Stroud and they had an outdoor market where I tried to find low carb food.Got quite panicky. Finally found a Malaysian stall but what I thought was veg was actually potatoes, but as I'd bought i ate it! Then out came the Rose's later and I thought stuff it. Put on a pound overnight.
So all weekend I've been so good again and trying to think how I can go forward really.
Thanks for the comments. It's been a struggle at times, although the food is so enjoyable.

kerkyra · 06/12/2021 10:26

I'd like to ask a question. In the last 3 months I haven't had any rice, pasta, bread, noodles or potatoes ( except for friday) and I don't feel any urge to ever eat them, but I have a very sweet tooth and there is an open box of florentines up in my bedroom that I opened and had one the other week. I often think about these florentines. Going forward,if at 10grams of carbs each, would one every night be ok in the Christmas week if I stuck to strict lc all day? If it has the same carbs as say,3 carrots or a bowel of yoghurt. I can work with that and be in control.
Or does sugar in chocolate form differ from healthy carbs.

TrueGrit54 · 06/12/2021 10:37

Lost another 2.5 lbs, been a really busy week for me, walked more than usual, ate dinner quite early too. 30 day period finally finished which I think gave me a weight loss boost. DH is making chicken soup today, I need to go through the fridge and meal plan for the week.

kerkyra great pictures, you look really trim now, well done.

BIWI I have found bootcamp really good. Thanks for organising.

BelladiMamma · 06/12/2021 11:44

Checking in

@kerkyra

I understand your point about the 10grams (though we really aren’t meant to be carb counting), but unlike the carrots or the yoghurt I see no nutrition in a florentine.

Why waste that many carbs on something that’s not giving your body vitamins or nutrients?

And to be honest I can’t help being concerned when you say you have a very sweet tooth. With long term low carving id hope that would have diminished by now. That’s part of the process—losing that sugar craving that drives so many.

It is entirely up to you what you put in your mouth—I’m not here to judge anyone and many do in fact plan their “cheating” as it can minimise the damage while helping to savour a particular food (I’m thinking of StuntNun and her one Christmas roast potato Grin—but isn’t it a bit odd that this box of chocolates is a) in your bedroom and b) already occupying your mind as to how and when you’re planning to eat it?

Having said all that, my planned cheat is basically “I’m having whatever I want to eat and drink on Christmas Day, damn the consequences” so I’m hardly a paragon of virtue!

kerkyra · 06/12/2021 12:50

Thanks ShagMeRiggins.
Yep,it's ridiculous those florentines are in my bedroom. I have a big bag of pressies for people and these were meant to be a gift to someone. I suppose I wanted a treat.
I still have a sweetener in my two coffees during the day and with cream added it feels like a treat, but I know the rules are we should be cutting that out,so will try and do that.
I certainly don't want to go back to scoffing choc every night and think I've formed good habits so going to let my boys have the posh florentines tonight. I needed telling so thanks.

Aderyn21 · 06/12/2021 12:51

I think the problem with the sugar carbs is that it makes you crave even more sugar, so for many people it's hard to then restrict it to one florentine. But some people are better at moderation than others.
I'm a lot better than I used to be at not craving sugar but I also have a naturally sweet tooth and miss having some chocolate or cake. It doesn't help that so much of our social lives in the UK is centred around eating!

kerkyra · 06/12/2021 12:56

Just realised I'm still looking at food as a 'treat'. Damn! I feel I'm half way there 🙂
