bootcamp questions

Have done low carb a few times before and lost weight but never managed to stick with it. However looking at the research around it, it still seems like the most sensible option so I'm thinking of signing up for the pre-Xmas bootcamp.

Beyond avoiding the 'banned' foods, is there portion control? The spreadsheet seems to suggest no but on the sample menus the portions seem very small (a 100g burger? seriously??)

Also, are beans and pulses verboten forever? I see they're not allowed in the early stages but they're a major part of my family cooking currently and not sure what I'd substitute (whereas rice, pasta etc seem to have plenty of low-carb alternatives)

thanks!

No portion control generally needed unless someone is struggling very near goal weight (but usually isn’t an issue).

Beans and pulses not verboten forever but the general idea is to get nutrients and satiation (hmm...is that even a word? Blush) from loads of vegetables—the greener the better—and protein, and healthy fats.

Plus, it’s all very delicious.

Generally speaking, on Bootcamp, we don't focus on portion sizes (or calorie counting). It's all about the carbs! However, that doesn't mean carte blanche for stuffing your face!

100g isn't a huge burger, but neither is it a small one. I've just checked Sainsbury's website, and their burgers weigh 114g - which includes breadcrumbs - so 100g pure meat should be fine.

However, I should also point out that the recipes you're looking at are for Ubercamp, which is a 3 day plan designed for when weight loss is stalling - hence giving specific weights for things.

Beans and pulses are forbidden during Bootcamp, but nothing to say you can't start to include them after Bootcamp or when you've reached your target weight.
