@Blurpblorp
Hi everyone, hope you're having good mornings so far. Thanks for the recipe suggestions... might try the leek and fennel gratin. Also the Male Performative Cooking thread is a hoot. SO my experience with my exDH.
What was the nasty thread about?
Might be in my head; but can you feel when you're in ketosis? I had my best day yet yesterday (thanks for the encouragement) and I felt sort of sweaty, jittery but not in a way that made me feel unwell. Maybe my body adjusting to less food than I've had before plus I'm doing about 15:9 as opposed to 0:0. Be interested to know...
I'm vegetarian/vegan so bit bummed how many carbs are in some meat substitutes. Anyhoo, today's plan is:
B - two veggie sausages, two eggs
S - rhubarb yoghurt
L - broccoli and cheddar soup
D - vegan Pukka pie chicken and green beans fried in garlic and butter. I know this isn't on the plan but it's in the house and needs eating. Plus I've already done a power walk this morning and will do another on way to pick my DD up from school.

Nasty thread was basically a poster called Cormoran who is a bit of an evangelical vegan (are there any who aren't?
), who posted that
- I gained my knowledge only from YouTube and Instagrammers/bloggers rather than actual science
- Bootcamp is a high protein diet, which will give us all cancer, despite it being pointed out several times that it's a medium protein diet
- I recommend processed foods, again despite it being pointed out that this couldn't be further from the truth
Whereas there were some interesting links provided, the tone was unpleasant, and it was becoming more and more a personal attack on me (note said poster doesn't go on the Fasting or 5:2 threads to make their points ...
). Anyway, eventually I asked MNHQ to delete the thread, which they did.
So. Now to deal with your post!
If you're feeling sweaty and jittery it could well be that you're in ketosis, but it could also be a sign that your electrolytes are imbalanced - you need, in particular, sodium, magnesium and potassium.
Sodium is the key one - so you need to make sure that you're cooking with salt and adding it to your food. With all the water that we drink on Bootcamp it's important to really up your salt intake.
Food sources for the others include salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat natural yoghurt. You could also try using LoSalt, which is a potassium-based condiment (although this shouldn't replace actual salt).
In the short term, try a hot drink made from Oxo, Bovril or Marmite - or add salt and lemon juice to a glass of water.
You can also get electrolyte supplements, if you start to feel more unwell (e.g. Zero, by High5 - from the High5 website or places like Holland & Barrett)
I realise you're a veggie/vegan, so your carb intake is going to be higher than those of us who eat meat/fish, but watch out for those meat substitutes, as they can be very, very processed - which isn't what Bootcamp is all about.
A couple of particular things - rhubarb yoghurt?! Fruit not allowed on Bootcamp (the first two weeks at least) and this also sounds like it would be sweetened, either with sugar - not allowed - or sweeteners - also not allowed!
And the pie? Why? If it needs to be eaten, couldn't someone else eat it?
You've also this week, your first week! had fruit juice - which isn't allowed - and a baguette - also not allowed.
If you seriously want to shed the weight and follow Bootcamp, you really do have to knock fruit, sugar, bread and pastry on the head. Otherwise it simply won't work. Worse, if you're upping your fat, you'll end up gaining weight!
