2 weeks on Keto and...

I have lost the grandtotal of 1KG
I don't get it.
I have been strict.
I have nearly 2 st to lose.
Visually it is obvious I have lost weight and I feel it too, but I find it so demoralising that the weights are not reflecting this.
I am 50 yo and I workout gently for 30 mins daily.
What can I do to shift things next week?

Your calories too high or carbs not low enough.

Ninkanink · 20/05/2020 08:57

What have you been eating? Have you had lots of fat and lots of water? It can take a while for your system to properly adjust, especially if you’re a serial dieter and/or have yoyoed a lot.

BIWI has a low carb bootcamp starting on May 25th, I highly recommend you join up as it will be a lot easier for you to do this as part of a highly supportive and knowledgeable group.

Download carb manager and track what you eat for a week

Also the scales aren’t always a reliable source of weight loss monitoring - trust your eyes first. Your fat cells take in water as part of the fat loss process and until that water is expelled the scales won’t show true progress.Take measurements now so that in future weeks and months you can re measure when the scales aren’t budging and see concrete losses in inches.

Bootcamp sign-up thread is here

Honestly, go sign up right now - you will make huge progress in the 5 weeks (it’s a half length bc because of lockdown), and you won’t have to do it all by yourself.

SmolGreenCrocodileBaby · 20/05/2020 09:16

Have you calculated your macros and stuck to them? Drank plenty of water? Avoided all fruit and drinks with critic acid in?
Donyou have test sticks to confirm you're in ketosis?

Ninkanink · 20/05/2020 09:25

You don’t need sticks. If you drink as much water as you should be, they won’t be accurate anyway.

SmolGreenCrocodileBaby · 20/05/2020 09:56

I find mine extremely accurate. And of course you don't need them but for £3 it's a nice little confirmation.

Ninkanink · 20/05/2020 09:59

Fair enough 🙂

AnotheChinHair · 20/05/2020 19:13

Hi, thank you everyone for your replies. I have signed up for the bootcamp although I have no idea what that means. What happens on the 25th?

Well it’s slightly different this time as it’s a five week kick-start plan...Normally it’s ten weeks of lowcarbing and strictly no calorie counting, but lockdown happened!

Here’s the prep thread so you can get an idea of what’s coming:

bootcamp

AnotheChinHair · 20/05/2020 19:36

SmolGreenCrocodileBaby I haven't to be honest. I honestly felt that whether I was on ketosis or not, the changes I have made surely were more than enough to get things started. I have drank no alcohol whatsoever, I have had no carbs except from vegetables, I have eaten no sugar whatsoever, inc fruit. I am not a person that eats big portions, genuinely. I have drank 2 litres of water a day. I have the headachy feeling and the horrible breath.
