Welcome to week 9, did you think at the beginning that you would make it this far? We're in the last two weeks now so let's all re-commit to this way of eating for the final stretch. Add your weigh-in to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and how about some inspiring tales to keep each other going?

BrassicaBabe yeah, shit hapens. Don't let it derail you. Hope you had a nice blowy walk & feel better after that. Or at least sleep on it and you will feel better tomorrow. KOKO.

I've got PMT and a sniffle so feeling a bit under the weather. I keep having to reasure myself it's not C19, but who the heck knows?! I stocked up (not stock piled) on baked beans & instant noodles in case the DC have to feed themselves.

Rshard · 10/03/2020 19:13

Hope your walk has made you feel a bit better brassica, you totally did the right thing coming here and letting off a bit of steam

AthelstaneTheUnready · 10/03/2020 19:52

I do love reading all these determined posts.

Still too chicken to weigh here, as not quite dumped the comfort carbs as the steroids (as predicted) sent my appetite through the roof and wrecked my sleep.

But I am beginning to feel slightly more human as of today, and so to pick up a bit of determination of my own. Tomorrow contains lots of butter and broccoli and water. Am seriously looking forward to feeling better again.

Doilooklikeatourist · 10/03/2020 19:53

Self pity party here and biscuits were invited
Stupid woman ( me , not you lot )
Back on the WOE in the morning and a big GOW ( glass of water ) on the go now

BrassicaBabe · 10/03/2020 22:05

So I went for a walk. Pic! Then managed to go rowing training. This is quite an achievement as my mindset was firmly in the "sod it" category. Which then spirals downwards further. (Others must recognise this yes?) So, if we don't talk about the 3lb, then I'm only down 1 run over the week, the week is not lost and everything is still to play for!

What a great picture brassica Smile. I very much recognise that feeling.

I made Suleman's Pilaf tonight: a Elizabeth David recipe of cooked lamb chunks third meal from a roast pine nuts, diced (large) tomatoes, shallots (recipe has onions) with cauliflower rice (fried in butter) rather than rice. (Also missed out the raisins). Dh enjoyed it - I'm getting him to eat HFLC even though he was snooty about it a few weeks ago Grin He enjoyed doing an egg fast last week - but I'm now trying to explain to him that it's not something to do every week Hmm

BIWI · 10/03/2020 23:14

What a fab picture @BrassicaBabe - how lucky you are to live in such a beautiful place

PinkSubscriber · 11/03/2020 06:49

What a lovely pic brassicababe. I think a walk taking in a bit of nature really helps calm the mind and lift the spirits a bit.

MrsBertBibby · 11/03/2020 07:35

Lovely pic Brassica. Well done for getting yourself out of the hole.

An overnight one pound drop to a new low for me (12 4.5) : half a pound above last year's low, and after that, I shall be in weights not seen in maybe 10 years or more.

Rshard · 11/03/2020 07:49

Gorgeous photo brassica, your tactic worked and you beat the fuck its!

HerRoyalCarbyLess · 11/03/2020 08:07

Good morning.

Still haven't shifted the weight I put on Hmm

Anyway.

Breakfast: scrambled egg, spinach and rocket with cheese.

Lunch: fajita chicken salad

Dinner: chicken wrapped in bacon with flgv

Almahart · 11/03/2020 08:15

Ooh that pilaf sounds amazing, am totally going to make that

I had mashed swede last night for the first time (apart from Burns night) despite doing BC on and off since 2012. OMG it was delicious. I had duck breast (reduced in Waitrose) and broccoli and it was lovely

prettybird · 11/03/2020 08:41

It's dead quick to make almahart Smile I always get a big leg of lamb, even when there's only 2 of us (although there were 4 at the weekend as ds was down for the International and my dad, who takes him, stayed for supper) just so that we can have leftovers. Day 2 cold lamb; Day 3 Suleman's Pilaf; Day 4 a low carb Shepherd's Pie (which can be made with as little as 200g of leftovers - if there's more, it also makes a "bolognaise" base).

HFLC Suleman's Pilaf: cut a generous amount of chunks from the leftover lamb. Fry chopped shallots in coconut oil/olive oil in a saucepan/casserole and add pine nuts. Dice 2-4 tomatoes (depending on how much you're making) into reasonable sized chunks and add to the shallots to fry off (you want the seeds and juice as well). Add the lamb chunks and let them become well acquainted. Blitz a cauliflower in a food processor and fry in lots of butter plus some salt. Add to the lamb/shallot mixture and stir through.

I'll add this to the Lamb/Meat recipe thread.

venusandmars · 11/03/2020 10:23

Add the lamb chunks and let them become well acquainted love that phrase although it does sound a bit Jamie Oliver-ish I do a similar recipe with lamb mince. I buy the minced lamb in a 500g pack and split it up into 5 or 6 bags and put it in the freezer. It's part of my less meat climate change effort to add small-er amounts of meat to things.

Food today:
B - a load of 'snacky' things (don't know why, just grazing round the kitchen, snaffling up anything I fancied) - pepperami, slice of cheese, a few nuts, cheesies
L - avocado, salad, sardines
D - mushroom stir fry with leeks, courgettes, ruby chard

prettybird · 11/03/2020 10:36

I actually borrowed stole that phrase from a recipe in "The I Hate to Cook Book" by Peg Bracken Grin - which is a much-loved family cook book (my mum had the original American paperback edition and I have a later hard back "English" edition which translates things like "Elevator Lady Spice Cookies" to "Lift Lady Spice Biscuits" Hmm)

ShagMeRiggins · 11/03/2020 10:39

I’ve added weights for rodez and moleeye to the SoF FYI.

I've discovered is that my "necessary" amount of water is 0.5l to 1l more than that suggested by the SoF for my weight

Where did you get this info prettybird?

BrassicaBabe · 11/03/2020 10:40

That pilaf sounds amazing pretty

prettybird · 11/03/2020 10:44

Shagmeriggins - it wasn't anywhere official, it was just my personal experience Smile. If I drink slightly more than the "recommended" amount, I don't see the same curious upward fluctuations.

ShagMeRiggins · 11/03/2020 10:45

Having caught up with the thread it appears that yesterday was off the charts rubbish for many of us. What’s going on?

It was such a low for me I didn’t even bother to post. School refuser should was in school Monday refused yesterday and I was in a horrible place of negative feelings about my abilities as a mother, which led to a massive pile on of negative feelings about everything.

Lifted in the evening by watching one of the other children perform at a school Open Mic event. I was bursting with love and admiration.

In my dark moments I must always remind myself that nothing stays the same forever. And that—like Brassica going for a walk—a lot of the change is within my control.

Anyway, school refuser back in school today. A journey of a thousand miles, etc...

ShagMeRiggins · 11/03/2020 10:46

Ah, got it prettybird I misunderstood your post.

Am HUGELY amused that your husband is slowly turning to the force of HCLF and away from the dark side of his doctor’s dietary advice!

CheddarGorgeous · 11/03/2020 11:04

Am being incredibly slow at learning not to get disheartened by one bad day on the scales. Weighed this morning and I have had a whoosh (for me) so am at my lowest LCBC weight (by a tiny fraction).

A bit confused as to why, and I'm on day 32 of my cycle so that's weird as well.

ShagMeRiggins · 11/03/2020 11:30

In the immortal words of Cher in Moonstruck, “Snap out of it!”

Elpheba · 11/03/2020 13:02

I’ve fallen off the wagon a bit- so silly, just feel so stuck. I’ve lost a stone since starting which I know is great, but I’ve hovered stubbornly around there for a few weeks. I’ve still got a good three stone to lose and my mojo has just disappeared.
I think I need to re inspire myself with some recipes so I’m not so bored of what I’m eating.

prettybird · 11/03/2020 13:28

Elpheba - lots of inspiration in the recipe threads Smile

ShagMeRiggins · 11/03/2020 15:53

Elpheba you’ve done so well, don’t get bored now. Keep at it, even after bootcamp, especially as you have a long-term weight loss goal.

Maybe tell us what you’re eating and which bits bore you.

Also mention any barriers such as being time poor for cooking etc.
