How has everyone got on this week? It's time to weigh-in and update the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. We had a few newbies joining us last week so a quick reminder to ask any questions you might have. This Way of Eating really works but sometimes it can be hard to see the wood for the trees when you're in the middle of your weight loss journey so let's keep motivating each other.

Morning

Sorry I haven't replied to everyone who posted replies and helpful advice after I said that I'd stalled the last 2 weeks. Thank you all.

I've been following all the advice given and I'm pleased to say its working.

Yesterdays menu.

B. had this later in the morning ff yog with seeds
L. only time for snacks pork scratchings, hard boiled egg
D. about 5 slices of pork belly with a Korean rub (packet)
with homemade coleslaw and olives
square of dark choc

BIWI · 05/03/2020 10:31

@PinkSubscriber - glad it's working - but you really need to be having more veg/salad with your meals. At the moment, your carbs are coming from other sources, whereas they should be coming primarily from veg/salad and (some) fruit. Did you also check the carb count of the Korean rub? They're often pretty high because they can include sugar.

Athelstone hope your feeling better, the flu is really horrible to have and as others have said it can take a while to recover.

I’ve had a whoosh, 2lbs down from yesterday after staying the same for 2 weeks, so KOKO is definitely the right strategy.

B Greek yogurt (ate late as been to the gym)
L if I want anything will have an omelette later
D something with chicken

Lots of water ....

Yesterday I had:
B: two hardboiled eggs and some cheese, after about 14.5hrs fast.
L: tuna mayo on spinach (with olive oil) and tomato, plus Greek yogurt with tsp almond butter
D: steak and kidney stew (slow cooker, had some carrots and onion in there, really good, will maybe add turnips or swede next time) served on kale. Half a 25g bar of dark chocolate. I weakened and had a slice of Christmas cake! It's homemade (Delia recipe!), no icing or marzipan, I put it away at the start of bootcamp; there's over half left, but I cut some last week for DH and he'd left one piece thinking I wanted some. Turned out I did. Blush

Will KOKO!

Working from home so made one of my faves, a broccoli and halloumi bake from the Times magazine. I sub the onion for a couple of shallots

That sounds gorgeous, @Rshard! I love roasted broccoli with chilli and shallots, and adding the other things (especially halloumi) is inspired.

I made that broccoli and halloumi bake after you posted it before and it is indeed scrummy Smile

Thanks StuntNun. Think I've done a bit better today...

B: 2 x eggs scrambled in butter with corned beef, mushrooms and grated cheese
L: leftovers from breakfast with a couple more eggs thrown in and some more corned beef served with courgette fried in butter
D: bacon fried in butter with broccoli and two fried eggs
W: 13 stone

Had one litre of water and one pint of water, 3 x green tea and one black tea.

Is black tea ok?? Drink green when possible but some of the places I go only has black or coffee - maybe need to start carrying round green tea bags with me, as well as a water bottle. Still not drinking enough water I think.

Are chewing gum/mints ok?? TIA Smile

SophieRay both green tea and black tea have caffeine in them so you can only count a couple of them a day (half a litre) towards your water allowance. If you want a hot drink tea type drink try chamomile, mint or something else along the herbal lines.

Thanks Rayna. I thought green was supposed to be ok 🤦🏻‍♀️. I do have camomile on an evening, think I'll have to get some mint tea in for during the day then Smile

The Twinings Buttermint tea is lush Smile - as is any Peppermint & Liquorice tea (Lidl and Tesco do own brands plus Teapigs do it) .

Today’s menu
B 2 eggs mayo
L slice of ham , grated cheddar and coleslaw
D chicken breast with shallots and cream sauce , then a shed load of veg , cauli , spinach , courgettes and mushrooms
Lots of water and a lemon and ginger tea
Managed just over 8000 steps , which is good for me on a work day , as although I’m on my feet all day , I don’t walk far , but I walked down to the Drs to collect my prescription as the sun was still out and like everyone else I’m sure , I felt the need for some fresh air

@prettybird, I’ve bought some of the buttermint tea , haven’t tried it yet though

Report
Rayna37 · 06/03/2020 06:30

I'd been buying buttermint tea as I thought I didn't like regular mint, as it brought to mind chewing gum which I hate. Then I ran out of it and took a chance on the cheapo mint tea from Aldi; turns out it's fine too! Drink the chamomile mostly though.

Morning all

Today's menu:

Groundhog B: Homemade low carb banana waffle with blueberries and a splodge of thick double cream. 2 x coffee with cream
Groundhog E: Decaf coffee with cream. Square of 90% Lindt
L: Cheese omelette with avocado
D: Homemade low carb meat pie with cottage cheese & cheddar topping. Broccoli and cauliflower
1 x mini bottle of Pinot Grigio

2 x fruit teas. Loadsa water

Exercise: 25 min power walk. Pilates

Does anyone else find they sleep much more deeply when low carbing? I interrupt my own sleep with wee wakes (thanks to all the water!) but then manage to get back into a really deep sleep.

Morning

Need to phone the doctor at 8 and get an appointment. Need to for my MH anyway, but going to mention my wrist as I still have pins and needles in it and I did it a week ago.

Breakfast: going to have cheese omelette with spinach and broccoli when I get back from the school run.

Lunch: chicken and bacon salad.

Dinner: kids want noodles, so I'll use the meatballs I have in the freezer and make a low carb sauce to go with them, and I'll try some courgetti.

KOKO here, down another half pound.

Pretty exhausted by life atm, eyeing up cheap weekends in the sun on lastminute.com. Seriously thinking of Lisbon on my own in a few weeks. Where else would be sunny and cheap? Any ideas?!

Food today:

Brunch - left over sausages, left over ratatouille, fried egg
D - steak, mushrooms, huge salad

Bought some cheese puffs these ones in little 20g bags. Had to get them online as I can't find a local stockist. They are delicious - might give up my cheesy wotsits longing.

A gin and soda, a few olives, a dish of cheesies - the perfect pre-dinner snack.

Up a bit on the scales today, I think too much dairy and nuts yesterday plus probably the cake from Weds catching up with me. I had:

B: "Low Carb" porridge: roughly 1tbsp each of ground almonds, shredded coconut, ground flax seed, chia seeds, 3 seed mix, made with whole milk, some frozen blueberries and a dollop almond butter. Indulgent breakfast I try to limit to once a week or so as while technically allowed it's much higher in carbs than eggs!
L: Egg and cheese mayo on spinach, cucumber and tomato. Greek yogurt with peanut butter.
D: Courgetti Bolognese with grated Parmesan, half a 25g bar of dark chocolate.

Yes definitely to the sleep @CaptainofmyownShip much deeper sleep and much weirder dreams for me. Honestly I can't remember sleeping so well ever before and I'm also much better at going straight back to sleep if I get woken up... Also DH says I'm not snoring much now either.
