Evening all!

I'm away again tonight, and not going to have access to a laptop/ipad until later on tomorrow, so I'm starting the week's chat thread a bit early.

Here's the spreadsheet

Sounds like we're seeing some really impressive results, and I'm looking forward to the 'scores on the doors'!

This, for me, represents one of the key 'aha' moments I had when I first started in the world of low carbing - the realisation that hunger (at least for those of us in the Western world) isn't about having an empty stomach, but it's all to do with our blood sugars, and keeping the key hormones (insulin, grehlin and leptin) in balance.

And knowing that what we eat can directly control how hungry we feel was a real revelation to me.

BIWI · 09/12/2019 19:43

... so on this WOE it really does become about eating when you're genuinely hungry, rather than allowing our hormones (because we've eaten too much carbohydrate) to tell us that we should eat

Swerved the mince pies :D just had a decaf coffee with a tiny splash of milk. Home and had cream in my cocoa. Have only had a total of 31g carbs today and 8g fibre so feeling good about this Xmas Smile

Quick check in. Lost two pounds this week - down to 12 st 3. I'd like to get down to about 10.5 stone so still a bit to go.

B - just tea
L - omelette with plenty of cheese onion and mushroom
D - saag paneer, sprouts and cabbage
S - 90% lindt dark choc x2 squares

DownUdderer · 10/12/2019 02:06

I’m down another pound today, that’s 2 pounds in 2 days. I don’t think the banana mattered. I’ve been eating banana’s all along, I get twitches in my legs and I know banana’s have potassium, which helps with it.

I’m 8lbs from goal weight.

StuntNun · 10/12/2019 10:35

Good for you DownUdderer although most people wouldn't be able to lose weight effectively on a low carb diet that included bananas. I use Lo Salt as a good source of potassium.

ShagMeRiggins · 10/12/2019 10:40

Sorry to hear about your twitches downudderer and obviously you’re right about bananas and potassium. Got me to thinking what else was a good source and I was surprised and pleased to see a few lchf friendly foods on this list.

Lots of options for us here. I don’t care if you stick with bananas, by the way. Grin

prettybird · 10/12/2019 11:37

I do the same as StuntNun - use Lo-Salt. In fact I've just had two boiled eggs with Lo-Salt, pepper and butter Smile

I also use a shake of Lo-Salt and a squoosh of lemon juice in every 2nd pint of water that I have during the day.

Hi all! It's really good to hear that not being hungry and needing to eat all the time is normal, I was worried I should be making myself eat more regularly. I'll just continue to make sure I've always got food planned for when I am hungry, because I'm exactly the sort of person who will grab a biscuit if I'm hungry and in a hurry.
Yesterday I had my 3 litres if water- water is something I'm good at doing. 🤣
I ate:
B: egg and cup of tea
Bulletproof coffee
D: ham and cheese
T: broccoli and stilton soup with flaked salmon in it.

Today I've had/ I'm planning on:
B: egg and tea
Bulletproof coffee
D: broccoli and stilton soup
T: lime chicken, fried mushrooms in butter and spinach.
And I'm already 2 litres down on my water.

Trying to keep up with normal stuff, election stuff and xmas stuff is beginning to stress me out though. Aaargh 🤪

venusandmars · 10/12/2019 13:11

B - butter coffee
L - one egg Omlette (in my special tiny Omlette pan) made with cream and parmesan and served with buttered mushrooms and spinach
D - paneer muttar (curry but made with halloumi rather than paneer - paneer wasn't available in my local shops when I first learned to make this, how times have changed!) Lots of veg, all the sad bits left in the veg box before the new box arrives later today.

BIWI · 10/12/2019 13:42

@DownUdderer but a banana isn't Bootcamp! Seriously - there are lots of other sources of potassium.

Hi all, I feel really lethargic today, a week from period it’s always the same for me.
Looking forward to having so left over beef Bolognese for dinner with butter grilled asparagus and FL of broccoli.
Water good, nearly done my three Litres think I might have another before the day is done.

Iris1 · 10/12/2019 17:37

Hi everyone. Checking in

Brunch (11am )- Leftover roast cauli, sprouts and broccolli. 2 poached eggs. Extra butter.

S - slice of cheddar spread with Boursin.

D - 2 fried eggs, 2 fried bacon rashers. Roast cabbage and spinach. Brie. Extra butter on eggs.

Lots of water and only one coffee today.

No exercise as couldn't get to the gym with a sprig off school. Will be going tomorrow though.
Need to make sure I eat something in the morning as I'm struggling with the gym fasted now. I can just about get through it but I don't think I can push myself as I usually would and I'm starving come the end. I just dotn know what to have as I can't face eggs that early and have no yoghurt in. Might have to just munch some cheddar and see if that helps.

venusandmars · 10/12/2019 19:52

Got an odd day tomorrow - early start, out all day including lunch, then straight back to go to the theatre.

I'll probably have half an avocado before I leave, a packed breakfast of corn beef, cheese, salad, then a late lunch. Some M&S 'snacks' in the car on the way back, then to the theatre (with a small number of macademia nuts in my pocket...

I don't know what the options for lunch are, and if I don't plan a few things to eat during the morning there is a risk that I'd munch all the wrong things...

ShagMeRiggins · 10/12/2019 20:27

venus that actually sounds like a decent plan.

Iris eat if you need to before the gym. IF doesn’t have to be skipping only breakfast. You could have a breakfast, a large late late lunch, then fast until the next morning if that will help you get more benefit from your exercise.

I do recall BIWI (or someone) talking last Bootcamp about how changing the fasting times can add even more benefit re weight loss.

KondoKonvert · 11/12/2019 09:05

Sounds like a full on day venus!

I'm feeling much more positive today. I've dropped 2.2lb since Monday's weigh in so I'm feeling much better about everything.

Food plan for the day:
B: scrambled eggs with mushrooms cooked in butter and coconut oil

L: smoked salmon, avocado, lettuce, peri peri mayo

D: roasted pork with crackling and broccoli

My friend is holding a mulled wine and mince pie evening so hoping if I eat before, I won't be tempted. She's aware of my WOE so won't be offended or try to tempt me!

RudolphIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/12/2019 11:54

Greetings all!

Is anyone else finding it really hard to find courgetti ATM? Can't get it anywhere! And yes I know I could make my own but life's too short. I like it with pasta sauce as I've gone right off Bare Naked spaghetti - I can't stand the plasticy texture and I think it gives me a stomach ache.

However, I have finally tried - and quite like - celeriac. Couldn't face the prep (see above Wink) so bought some frozen chunks from Waitrose and discovered it's quite nice mashed with sausages. Can't beat sausage and mash on a cold winter's night.

I've got a show on this week that's set in 1912 - looking forward to showing off my now-slender figure in an Edwardian evening gown. Grin

moleeye · 11/12/2019 13:14

@RudolphIsMySpiritAnimal try Sainsburys it's in the fridge near the salad leaves

I've just bought a celeriac today and I'm already feeling lazy about the prep of it!

RudolphIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/12/2019 15:15

I have @moleeye , several times! And Waitrose and M&S - no courgetti to be had!

Iris1 · 11/12/2019 16:16

Thanks for advice about IF and gym. Today i was in such a rush getting on the school run so i grabbed 2 slices of cheddar and scoffed them while driving. I go straight to the gym. Anyway todays workout was much better. I dont know of it's because i didnt have an empty stomach or because I finally feel fully recovered from the world's longest cold. Either way today was better and i plan to eat again tomorrow morning, just something small.
So today
B - 2 slices of cheddar
L - omelettes made with two eggs mixed with cream on leftover cabbage and spinach, with brie. Fried in butter and Oliver oil.
D - will be a bunless burger with a Portobello mushroom and a slice of halloumi, some broccolli on the side.

Thanks for whoever mentioned using elastic bands to keep track of water. I put four on my bottle this morning and have been taking one off when I refill. Should drink 3.6 litres this way. I'm onto my last refill shortly.

Decided to weigh once a week. The daily weighing was impacting me negatively. I want to weigh on a Saturday. I was 9stone 13 on Monday so will weigh this Sat and then every Sat going forward (except the one between xmas and new year when I am just not going there). I figured In the future this will stop me bingeing all weekend, I don't want to derail on a Friday if I know I am weighing in the morning but I can loosen up a bit on the Saturday night (once I reach maintenance)

moleeye · 11/12/2019 17:02

@RudolphIsMySpiritAnimal doh! 🙈

L-watercress soup with a large splash of double cream. Was YUM. Have made a big batch and frozen some but there's enough to keep me going until Friday!
D- chicken thighs with peppers and onions and cauliflower cheese
Snack- 2 squares 70% dark choc
1 coffee
4.5 litres of water

KondoKonvert · 12/12/2019 13:40

Watercress soup sounds lovely!

Today's plan:

B: bulletproof coffee, water

L: quite a nice roast chicken salad with Caesar dressing from Costa; Americano; water

D: skin-on duck breast with buttery Savoy cabbage.

ShagMeRiggins · 12/12/2019 15:51

Just waving at everyone in token post so I can stay On the thread.

WATER, everyone, even in this miserable cold.

secondchapter · 12/12/2019 18:58

Hi everyone. Haven't eaten much today yet except a lot of peanuts and a yoghurt, but will cook a meal soon. Have got the date through for my operation so more motivated than ever to maintain the weight loss. Lost again today, tomorrow might be difficult because I'm going to a party, but maybe I'll prep some food I can eat and take it with me. Will have to think about what I'm going to drink too, apart from tap water...
