Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Only 4 weeks to go ...

Morning campers

Here's the spreadsheet

So there are only four more weeks to go before we reach the finish line. But still time, if you're keeping to the rules, to lose another 4-8lbs - so possibly another half a stone!

It's a tricky time of year, though, as we hurtle towards Christmas, and the parties and drinks and chocolates start to make their appearance. I don't know about anyone else, but I have That Dress that I need to make sure I fit into, so that's keeping me focused.

Hope you all have a good week.

@Justmuddlingalong ooh that is my target weight too! Well done for maintaining it and thanks for the encouraging post, I'm an awful long way off it (110lbs to be precise!), but it's nice to think it's possible to get there one day.

tootstastic · 28/11/2018 18:10

Popped into Aldi earlier in search of the infamous Lacura Caviar Day Cream and whilst there I spotted some broccoli rice. I've just pan fried it in butter and olive oil with salt and pepper and served it with beef chilli. It was really tasty with a nicer, chewier texture than cauli rice. Def worth a try!

Oh and the day cream is great too. Amazing ingredients and a glass pot for only £6.99. Top marks for Aldi today.

Really inspiring @justmuddlingalong!

ilovecherries · 28/11/2018 21:42

It’s really quiet here! I’m koko but I’ve stepped away from the scales as I’m having my breast reduction surgery in two weeks and I’m feeling sick with nerves.I don’t want to get into celebrating weight loss because I’m not eating, if that makes sense. I’ve had to resort to protein shakes a couple of times just to ensure I get something down that isn’t rice pudding, bananas or toast, which is all I’m fancying (but not eating!).

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/11/2018 22:05

How do you all decide on target weight ?
@justmuddlingalong , it’s good to hear from someone who’s at target weight ( though I haven’t seen 9 st 5 on the scales since I was about 12 )

I’m an older mumsnetter (59 ) and don’t want to look scrawny , don’t want to look fat either , so my first target weight is going to be 10st 13 ( so less than 11 stone ) and then hopefully see off another 7lb and see how I feel then

Intermittent fasting went .. um .. badly
I had scrambled eggs at 11 ish , and by lunchtime was hunting for something to eat ( not ideal , I work in Catering , so plenty of food around )
Had some lovely stinky cheese , then felt better and had a much better evening

Will eat 3 meals tomorrow, and KOKO

prettybird · 28/11/2018 22:36

DoIlooklikeatourist - I'm 57, so I understand your concern.

My initial target is to get to 10 stone 9lb (ie just 3 digits) - which, at 5' 5.5" is 3lb inside a normal BMI. (It helps the calculation that I seem to be 1.5" taller than I thought I was Confused - I credit Pilates Grin) - but I'll settle for breaking through 11stone by Christmas (which would be 4 stone down since last May and 1 stone since last Christmas Smile)

Once I've reached that target, I'll review and see where I want to lose another 1/2 stone or so. That might also be dependent on whether I can get back into my lovely Nicole Farhi dress BlushWink

Justmuddlingalong · 28/11/2018 23:10

I set manageable targets along the way. To break a stone or half a stone seems easier somehow that setting the end target weight. I'm just wee, 5 ft 2 and initially was happy when I reached 10st. Before I went on holiday in the summer I dropped to 9.5st to give me a bit of wriggle room for the inevitable gain. And I liked how I looked and felt at that weight/size. Everything in my wardrobe fits as do all the rings I had sitting in my jewellery box. I ignore the BMI weight chart, as for my height I "should" be between just over 7st and nearly 10 stone. But at the lower end of that I'd look totally scrawny and ill, so 9.5st it is. I'm delighted with that, but don't sweat with the odd up or down of a few lbs.

tootstastic · 29/11/2018 06:21

My target weight of 9.5 is because when I was just over 10st (7 years ago now), I was between a size 10 and a 12. I'm 5'7 and a bit and want to actually experience being a size 10 (and staying there!).

Top end BMI for my height is about 11.5, so I would be very slim at 9.5, but this time around I kind of have that now or never mentality. I've yo-yo'd all my life, now late forties and desperate to get this weight off for good. This bootcamp was just the motivation I needed to get started.

Doilooklikeatourist · 29/11/2018 08:05

Thanks all , I’m about 5ft 5 , when I did WW many years ago , my goal weight was 10st 4 , I think I kept to that weight for about 20 minutes , so need something achievable

Another aquaintance remarked on my weight loss yesterday , saying I looked very trim 😀
Think my black work dress might have helped !

tootstastic · 29/11/2018 08:30

Chuckling at staying on target for 20 minutes, that is so me too! But enjoy the compliments, it's a sign it's working.

Rshard · 29/11/2018 08:47

Interesting chat around goal weights. I’m also 5”2 and my goal is 9 stone 6 so well within the healthy range of BMI, which I don’t really believe in but have used it a a gauge. I picked 9 stone 6 as that will be a nice round loss of 5 stone from my heaviest - I like round numbers. However the lowest I’ve been recently is 9”12 and I looked and felt good at that. I’m 44 and also keen to avoid looking scrawny.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 29/11/2018 10:56

I’m 5’4” and struggling with a goal weight. At my most slender I was under 9 stone - didn’t really weigh myself as I had that ‘luxury’ being very slim. I’d love to be that low again but I suspect it’s unrealistic at my age. I’m aiming for 9st 4. Think I need new scales though as I seem to have gained a stone despite following this WOE and fitting back in my smaller clothes. Confused

prettybird · 29/11/2018 11:34

When thinking of past weights of yore , in my experience (case study of one Wink), as you get older, your weight redistributes. So that is part of the reason why if you were back at your teenage or even 20s or 30s weight (depending on when you put on weight), you would look scrawny.

So give yourself an achievable interim target weight and then be prepared to review and decide that that's enough - or that your ultimate target weight if you have one is perhaps too low and that a different one in between would be better Smile

ilovecherries · 29/11/2018 11:39

I’m nearly 61, and have lost heading for 6 stone. I’m 5’7 and weigh 10.13 now. I def don’t look scrawny. I think all the fat and water helps. My surgeon estimates I will lose about another 5 lbs during my breast reduction, which, if true, will only be 2 lbs more than I was at 20. Sadly without the muscle tone!

prettybird · 29/11/2018 11:57

Having met you in RL, you don't look scrawny at all ilovecherries - you look fabulous SmileFlowers

bluelefant · 29/11/2018 12:47

I am 5'4 and would like to get into 10 stone zone which would be top end of healthy bmi.
Bottom end is just above 8 st but I am not even aiming for that, seems unrealistic and I last was this weight when I was 16 maybe...
Well 2 stones to go!

Rshard · 29/11/2018 13:55

Wise words @prettybird.

I think I’m a bit fixated on the numbers, being 9 stone something.

tootstastic · 29/11/2018 14:11

Haha...me too! I just unexplainably lust after that elusive 9. Vanity? Fantasy? Delusion?Who knows, but I just want that single figure before I die dammit 🙏

Littleorangetree · 29/11/2018 18:07

It's interesting to see how everyone is setting their goal weight.

I haven't really set a long term goal because I'm so used to never managing it that I decided this time to just see how I get on. I've set myself mini-goals instead e.g. moving from obese BMI to overweight (only 3lbs to go!) and I have a drawer full of jeans I want to get into and a winter coat I'd like to zip up and sit down comfortably in! Grin I know I should ideally be heading for the 9 or 10 stone mark, but it seems so far away I can't really imagine it! I've always been chubby, so have never really been a slim adult.

prettybird · 29/11/2018 18:30

That's a good approach littleorangetree Smile

While I've had a long term goal, I've realised that if I give myself too tight a date to achieve it, it tips me off the wagon when I don't achieve it. So now I give myself mini targets - more opportunities to celebrate once I achieve them - with a few "it would be nice if...." targets with dates which I won't beat myself up if I don't achieve them.

This WoE is also (and especially Smile) about learning to love yourself - and to love the food you do eat Smile

Doilooklikeatourist · 29/11/2018 20:13

I do that @littleorangetree
I have an ancient Laura Ashley skirt that I used to wear , and a beautiful evening skirt , that was my Mums which is beautiful bit I. Ant fit my bum into it yet
Goal clothes is perhaps the way to go , not goal weight
159 days til my holiday ... maybe a bikini on my older body ?

Doilooklikeatourist · 29/11/2018 20:14

Big I Ant = but I can’t

Littleorangetree · 30/11/2018 08:04

I completely agree with you prettybird, I'm feeling quite positive in myself becase I'm much more in control of my eating habits at the moment.

Doilooklikeatourist fitting into goal clothes really gives me a boost, so I think that will be my main motivation. It's nice to see the scales going downwards, but it's even better to fit into a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear for years! Grin

I'm still worrying about falling off the wagon over Christmas and losing my mojo, so I'll definitely need a kick up the bum from everyone on this thread to climb back on! I think if I'm strict and limit myself to only going off-plan at my works party, christmas day and boxing day, then I'll just jump straight back into it. I'm determined to allow myself to not feel bad about havng a few days off so I don't end up with that 'sod it' attitude and falling face first back into a trough of carby twattishness.

Rshard · 30/11/2018 09:28

Mini goals are definitely the way to go @littleorangetree, that’s how I’ve approached it.

prettybird · 01/12/2018 09:31

Sneaked on to the scales this morning: 11stone 2 3/4lb Smile Only 3lb to go to get to under 11stone for Christmas Grin

I'll need to work hard to make sure I don't have a rebound from the egg fast. After Stuntnun's comments, I did add a wee bit of protein (a few slices of meat) after the first couple of days.

I actually aberated from it last night as dh and I usually share a bottle of Cava. I only had 2 rather than my more usual 3 glasses through Blush

We're out to dinner tonight. He knows I am HFLC (in fact he follows Boot Camp himself but never consistently Hmm) but he is a devil for getting us to drink too much wine WineHmm
