Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

Cherries I'd just keep,on too it will come off. We are all slower when approaching goal. I think this is one of the reasons I don't weigh, I just use clothes, it becomes too disheartening to focus on a number on the scale.

Brassica, I wouldn't worry, just get back on the horse tomorrow. Your body must have needed it, i also find what athel says can be true, upping intake can kick start weight loss again.

qumquat · 11/04/2018 08:30

I binged completely off plan yesterday on 5 ice lollies. It was a direct result of trying to power through from breakfast to tea; I won't be doing that again! I need to get better at making myself good LCHF packed lunches to keep me going through the day.

BIWI · 11/04/2018 08:32

5?! In what world is that ever a good idea?! And given that ice lollies are mainly water, why wouldn't you have had a drink instead?

Hello everyone, been absent for a couple of weeks - work was v busy and then was skiing last week. Didn't fight the fuck its I'm afraid so have come back 4lbs heavier - wine every night, hot choc with cream, pizza, pasta, pudding etc etc Blush

Anyhoo, back on it since yesterday - plenty of water, FLGV etc. Planning on doing an egg fast next week, but want to see how much I can knock off going back to normal LCHF first. I've done it twice before and it has been fairly successful. The key for me is making things like the cream cheese pancakes etc so it is not so "eggy" for the 3-5 days.

Cherries you are a real inspiration, I love reading your posts and I hope you don't feel too despondent for too long. You've done brilliantly and we can all learn from your dedication and wil power.

Venus congrats on your loss and your upcoming nuptials.

qumquat · 11/04/2018 10:44

Of course it wasn't logical or a good idea. It was a binge. I had binge eating disorders for years and would regularly eat food out of bins or covered in washing up liquid. Lollies were just the only bingeable food I had in.

BrassicaBabe · 11/04/2018 12:02

TheWay what are the cream cheese pancakes like? Do you rate them?

ilovecherries · 11/04/2018 12:42

The difference a year makes. The left hand photos popped up on my phone memories today, do I whipped off my clothes and took an anniversary set. I wasn't at my heaviest in the first ones - had already lost 7lbs.

mickeymacca · 11/04/2018 12:44

Cherries you look amazing that is a phenomenal difference!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 11/04/2018 12:58

Brassica yes, I quite like them and makes a change from "eggs" per se.

LeapinLizards · 11/04/2018 13:07

What a difference, cherries! That's amazing. And no sign of a Churchill arse at all, as far as I can make out. Grin

Rshard · 11/04/2018 14:33

Wow cherries, just wow.

AveAtqueVale · 11/04/2018 14:36

Hi all - well done to everyone who’s been good! Loved your photos cherries - you must be so proud of yourself!

I’ve not posted in a while as life has slightly exploded, but I need help and probably a kick up the arse. I seem to have lost my headspace for this and have been yo-yoing for the last few weeks. Bootcamp for a few days then binging on crap then getting my head in gear for a few more days. Presence of Easter eggs in the house hasn’t helped as chocolate is my nemesis - I’m still happily living without cakes/ biscuits/ pasta/ potatoes/ bread - but finding chocolate, and crisps, very hard to resist. I keep having ‘one last day’ of carbs Hmm. I’ve only put on a couple of lbs but I’ve got at leastfour stone still to lose, so twice what I’ve already done, and I really need to get back in gear again. I’ve started running, doing Couch to 5k, and somewhat surprisingly have kept it up and am now on week 5, but I wasn’t expecting that to make a huge difference to weight loss and indeed it hasn’t. I feel like I’ve only got the mental energy/ willpower to be good about one thing at once - running or diet. But I know that’s not true, and I can definitely do this again. I don’t want to stop the running as tbh it’s a tenuous hold on sanity at the moment. What does everyone else do to get back on the wagon? Or has anyone got any massively motivating news or tips? I feel like if I don’t claw things back soon the fuck-its will win and before I know it it’ll be the end of the year, and if I’m lucky I’ll still be this weight and if I’m not those two stone I lost will have gone back on Blush. So yes, consider this an SOS!

Bluntness100 · 11/04/2018 14:39

Gosh, that's a really big difference cherries, you can really see it on your tummy, hips and backside. That's a serious achievement!

Bluntness100 · 11/04/2018 14:42

Ave, do you have a goal like a target piece of clothing or an event you need to attend? Normally for me I focus on one target and then keep working till I get there.

Also can you get the crap out the house, or keep it someplace you can't be tempted to eat it? All you need is about four days for the cravings to go.

Rshard · 11/04/2018 16:07

ave, I agree with bluntness, set out some mini goals. Don’t have to be weight related, stick to plan for a week etc.

Also, post on here at least every day for some accountability?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 11/04/2018 19:21

Wow, your legs, Cherries - up to your arms! jealous

Ave - motivating news: today I sat on a rock, and was actually sitting on my arse-bones instead of my comfortable padding. Swings, roundabouts [wunk] Grin

Tips: reading, reading, reading. I find it really easy to brainwash myself through reading blogs and articles and threads. If I read enough, I find myself back in the zone - I've linked to an article or two before, but I found this site quite inspiring the first time round (gone downhill the last year or so) - all things optimistic

Destinysdaughter · 11/04/2018 20:46

cherries those photos are amazing, such a difference, well done you!

I just popped on to say, I HATE CAULIFLOWER!!! I've been eating it so much, had a bacon and mushroom carbonara type meal tonight which was nice, but I had to have it with steamed cauliflower and I really don't like it. I know you can eat so many truly delicious things on this WOE but I just cannot make cauliflower taste nice...😀

Bluntness100 · 11/04/2018 22:23

Cauliflower is. Yum, what's wrong with you? 🤣

Destinysdaughter · 11/04/2018 22:34

I'm a 'super taster' so things like cauliflower taste bitter to me. ( it's a real thing, honest! ) . It's the same with things like broccoli, Brussels, swede, parsnips, coffee, olives etc. Slightly problematic on this WOE I know...

ilovecherries · 11/04/2018 23:19

Actually, I love cauliflower as a vegetable: steamed, roasted, baked, fried is all good. But I can't stand it masquerading as a carb - so as 'rice' or a pizza base etc. Then it overpowers everything.

Rayna37 · 12/04/2018 07:04

I made a cauliflower topped shepherds pie yesterday which I really enjoyed. Fed a bit of the cauli purée to the baby and he loved it! First thing he's actually finished all of the (v small) portion I'd attempted. Had been starting to wonder if this was an imposter child due to the lack of interest in solids Wink

Bluntness100 · 12/04/2018 08:07

Morning all. Everyone back down the mines today?

Cherries I was thinking about you last night. You've lost such a lot of weight off your tummy, it will include a lot of visceral fat round your organs, which is a huge health benefit. I was carrying a lot of weight on my tummy and that was one of the things that concerned me

I'm considering making broccoli and Stilton soup later. Will see how I feel, have quite a lot of work to do later. So need to force myself off of mumsnet,,,,🤣

Rshard · 12/04/2018 08:31

Morning all

I’ve just done my measurements so I thought I’d share. Since 9 October I have lost 5 inches from my chest and waist, 4 inches from my hips and 3 and 2.5 inches from left and right thigh respectively. In that time I’ve lost 27lbs.

What’s really interesting and pleasing is that since 9 January, start of last boot camp (ish) although I’ve lost just 7lbs, I’ve lost 2.5 inches from my chest, 2 from waist, 1 from hips and 1.5 from each thigh. I also started to measure under boob and that’s reduced by 2inches.

So glad I took measurements when I started this woe, as suggested on the threads!

Have a good day all

ilovecherries · 12/04/2018 09:08

Bluntness that's what I'm hoping re visercal fat. I've lost 15 inches off my waist, but all the (obvious) fat I have left is on my abdomen (we will leave my massive boobs out of equation as they were massive when I was a teen). So I've been fretting that visercal fat wasn't lost preferentially and that I've still got a lot in there. I'm hoping it's mainly subcutaneous fat now as I can give it a good squeeze, which I couldn't before, my abdomen used to be quite rigid. My waist is still 1.5 inches more than half my height, which is why I really want to be more securely towards the middle of a healthy BMI. Having said that, those pictures from yesterday are actually the first time I can truly see a shape difference. I think I was writing my size 24 to a 12 off as some kind of sizing aberration in clothes manufacturer (that clearly applied across every brand I tried!). My poor Spanx in the first set of photos were certainly fighting a losing battle Blush.
