Morning all.

So we finally reach the last week.

I feel that this Bootcamp has been a pretty successful one overall, with lots of SVs and NSVs.

Next Monday will be our final weigh-in, so there's one more week to lose some of that pesky fat.

I hope it's a good week for you all

The other thing is that I have been taking the stairs (144 of them) up and down 2x a day - perhaps my muscles are retaining water as part of the repair process HmmGrin

BIWI · 12/03/2018 12:23

@Almaheart I'm so sorry to hear your news Flowers

Look after yourself, but try not to let that mean diving into the biscuits ...

Alma so sorry for your news. I've walked in those shoes. I'm sure many here have too. Folks here understand what you are going through. Thanks

I know we try to stick with FLGV. Where do mushrooms fit on that spectrum? I know they aren't green. Are they as equally desirable?

BlackMozart · 12/03/2018 12:43

Alma very sorry to hear your news 💐
Well my first week of experimenting faile spectacularly and despite 3 days at 800-900 cals and the rest bootcamp lite I put on 2lbs, the same ones I thought I’d lost. Probably not helped by weighing this morning after Mothering Sunday which did mean I had 2 low carb scones at lunch time, and 2 glasses of wine. ☹️
Honestly I must be the worst bootcamper in history! As I read that back I think I need to own the fact that I haven’t properly (as in actually follow to the letter bc rules) been a boot camper apart from perhaps 2 weeks in October 17!!
So I’ve had a hot water /slice lemon, then 2 scrambled eggs with 1 tbsp cream for breakfast with 50g smoked salmon, and a coffee with coconut milk so far. I am going to have to measure what I have this week so I am really really clear what I’m doing. I also think I have too much protein. All the talk of macros is hurting my brain but I must be getting something wrong. Portion sizes could be another one.
Anyway enough moaning. My body cannot be serious about wanting to stay nearly 4 stone too heavy (but then my body isn’t making the choices is it!!)

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/03/2018 13:20

many Flowers for Alma, and a big

Yet another lb off for me, so within a lb and a fraction of my first major goal, getting under 9 stone. That's 5lbs in as many days, from cutting down on the meat, upping the fat, increasing calories (tracking not counting! Grin), and doing a bit of manual work (exercise, just not running! Grin). Oddly, my measurements have not changed in 60 days, despite this belated loss, so no idea what's going on there!

I know that those numbers sound as if I should already be around target, but for context - at 5'5", 9 stone 1lb, I am still squeezing to get into size 12 jeans, and I'm hourglass not pearshaped. My wardrobe is full of 8's and some 10's, all of which fitted at the beginning of last year, so I'm going to KOKO until I can get back into some of those.

BerylStreep · 12/03/2018 13:31

Hello all - thanks for the new thread BIWI - can't believe we are on week 10!!

So my tracking macros etc on MFP seems to have paid off, and I am back down to 92.4kg. I really really wanted to get to 90 before skiing, but if I can stick around 92 (and not the 99 I was when I started in November 2017) then I will be happy enough.

Alma sorry to hear your news. Flowers

GuyMartinsSideburns · 12/03/2018 13:53

Hi all,

Haven't weighed today as I'm not too well - had a migraine start in the early hours complete with vomiting (sorry tmi) and whilst the pain has pretty much gone now I've got that 'kicked in the head' sore after pain going on and i feel queasy. Was meant to spend today doing some OU study as little ds is in nursery and I'll have no chance with him home tomorrow, so not the best of timing.

Dh looked at me this morning and said "Christ have you lost weight?" So I'm taking that as a positive in any case.

ShagMeRiggins · 12/03/2018 14:07

WayoftheWorld sounds like you’ve identified a few areas there—definitely more water and veg, preferably fried in beautiful butter.

I’ve mostly switched off from creamy coffees to unsweetened almond milk and I think that’s made a difference. Would that be possible for you?

And is there any chance you’re due your period? How much have you gained this week?

Brassica mushrooms feature prominently in our home. I think they’re the bomb. Good carb count, some nice nutrients, and more flavourful than some green veg (celery, anyone? Hmm). The chestnuts are particularly nice with breakfast eggs, just fried up in loads of Brittany salted butter from Waitrose. So, so nice. Obviously good with steaks and shallots, and there’s a very simple creamy mushroom soup recipe on the BBC Good Food website that is quick and divine.

BlackMozart where’s your fat and veg so far...?!

Athrl glad your tweaks are paying off—well done! And well done to all who lost, even if it’s just a teeny bit.

Good luck to everyone else for KOKO, and trying to adjust for better results. We’re all different, we sometimes have to experiment to truly understand how our bodies respond. In the meantime we’re eating delicious food and feeling satiated, plus many other health benefits. Remember that!

lisbapalea · 12/03/2018 14:16

Forgot to log my food for the day in my earlier post:

B - berries and yogurt, coffee
L - really delicious beef chilli (no beans) and salad from work canteen
D - aubergines stuffed with ricotta, spinach, mint and parmesan, with salad

Am on my 2nd litre of water. Need to get to 3+.

Bluntness100 · 12/03/2018 14:42

I'm so sorry alma, 💐

I just got to my hotel, I'm friggen starving, had a small portion of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon in the ba lounge this morning and now eating cold cuts from room service.😳

On a seperate note, my husband has excelled himself. The rowing machine I thought was coming Thursday, it came today, you have to walk past the gym to thr house, it's about a hundred odd foot between the two, so he texted me saying " your rowing machine arrived, it's blocking the hallway. It's friggen huge and weighs a ton. Not sure how we are gonna move it". My response of " what, why didn't you just get them to put it in the gym " has went unanswered.

Men, pah.

Rshard · 12/03/2018 14:44

I’m thinking about giving the intermittent fasting a go. I’m hoping that it might help re-jig things to get me to goal. I know a few folk do it, how do you find it?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/03/2018 14:51

Rshard - I do IF naturally, really, as I prefer not eating breakfast (I find I get more hungry and eat more if I have it). I have lunch at about 12:15 and dinner about 19:30 Monday to Friday and rarely eat outwith those times (ignoring the disaster of last week!). I do have coffee with milk in the morning, and later at night, so it's not true IF but it does work for me.

Rshard · 12/03/2018 14:59

Thanks time for your comments. I eat dinner between 5 and 6.30, probably later at the weekend as we’re busy with dd’s swimming so my fasting period would probably be longer - is that an issue? I thought I’d introduce it gradually, say every other day. Or am I best to let it happen naturally. I’m doing it naturally today as by the time I’d been out to weigh myself, it was a bit late for breakfast so I hung on until lunch. Tonight I’m out at 5.20 so will probably eat around 7.30

TheWayOfTheWorld · 12/03/2018 15:05

Hi ShagMe I am only just over half way through my cycle, not due for another couple of weeks (if only I could point the finger at that!)

I put on 2lb this week, from 141.4lb to 143.4lb.

I've looked back at my May 17 BC numbers and towards the end there was a week where I put on 3lb in a week (don't think I cheated) and then dropped over 5lb over the following three weeks. Here's hoping... Grin

Definitely upping the FLGV - had sprouts and asparagus sautéed in butter last night for my dinner. The other thing I am going to try is going back to IF.

So for today:
B: none
L: chilli and cauliflower rice
D: will be sausages, celeriac mash (making for the first time!) and FLGV
S: creamy coffee and a babybel

ShagMeRiggins · 12/03/2018 15:09

Sorry, Bluntness, your post made me laugh.

“Yes, come right in, mind the gym on your way into the house with this piece of exercise equipment ...”Hmm

Meanwhile, I’m making the world’s best pulled pork in the slow cooker. I think it’s reasonably LCHF-friendly.

Obviously should be eaten on soft rolls with coleslaw on top of the pork (slaw is a must!), but for LCHF do the pork bun less with either cabbage coleslaw or a celeriac coleslaw or even a celeriac remoulade.

The bbq sauce is optional so anyone could add it to the bun—for LCHF I can honestly say the flavours are amazing and bbq sauce isn’t necessary.

Use shallots instead of onions to reduce carbs slightly.

And yes there’s a tablespoon of brown sugar in the recipe, but spread out over a meal that’s meant to feed six, I can live with 1/6 tablespoon sugar in my carbs for the day. If absolutely necessary one could substitute xylitol of other sweetener, or omit entirely (never tried that).

Anyway, absolute gorgeousness. Bon appetit.

ShagMeRiggins · 12/03/2018 15:18

You know what, WayOfTheWorld? It sounds like you just had a bad weigh-in.

If you think about it, it’s arbitrary to expect losses based on same day/time each week weigh-ins.

Yes, that gives an indicator of progress, but weight loss isn’t really all that linear, even on a garbage in/garbage out (calorie counting) diet.

So many other factors are at play, and your reference to the 3lb gain the 5lb loss from a previous Bootcamp is a very important reminder.

The positive is that this gain made you take a look at a few things and consider changes that will get you where you want to be. So that’s all good.

“Good talk, son.” Wink

BerylStreep · 12/03/2018 15:56

Bluntness enjoy the rowing machine. I have one of the water rowers like the one in House of Cards. If only I used it

Am envious that you have an actual gym.

Twoo · 12/03/2018 16:01

Alma’ Flowers

Not weighed yet as out all day on health appointments. Might be tomorrow now.

Great reading all your successes.

Thank you for the last thread BIWI. Where do we go next week? 😕

Rshard · 12/03/2018 16:37

We’ll have an ongoing chat thread twoo

Bluntness100 · 12/03/2018 16:49

Thanks,,beryl,,,not so much shagme, 😝 as it's not funny and having spoken to the husband who excels, he's saying we will have to try to cantilever it onto a trolley and up the path but it will need to stay where it is for now as he can't lift it. Something for us both to look forward to at the weekend.

Apparently as he's called in sick due to man flu, and decided to watch a top gear marathon he forgot to not have it delivered into the house. Cos watching top gear obviously does that to a bloke.😳

LeapinLizards · 12/03/2018 17:02

Just wanted to add my Flowers for Alma. It's a sad & difficult time. Be kind to yourself

BIWI · 12/03/2018 18:18

@Twoo we don't go anywhere! Grin

We stay on this thread, chatting as normal, and then when the thread gets full, I'll start another one.

The only difference is that the spreadsheet won't be maintained, and I tend not to wave the big stick around quite so much (although it's often very tempting!)

So stick around, and there'll be the usual help and support.

Thank you for the hugs and flowers. Unusually for me I’ve lost my appetite

BlackMozart · 12/03/2018 19:08

shagme good question as at lunch I had 2 cherry tomatoes! With a small amount of cheese and Parma ham. So fat accounted for there but not veg.
Tonight I made a crustless quiche with leek, courgette, small amount of bacon, chorizo and cheese served with buttered broccoli. Chorizo needed using up otherwise it would have been mainly veg.
Have only had one coffee today but have been drinking water a lot more than normal but still not enough.

ScreamingValenta · 12/03/2018 19:11

STS for me this week. I do have a small NSV though - DH introduced me to one of his work colleagues who I'd not met before, and we were randomly talking about Indian food - I bemoaned how fattening naan bread was (hadn't mentioned I was on LCHF as didn't want to come across as 'diet bore' to a stranger) and she said, 'You're quite slim, though'. I will take 'quite slim' thank you very much Grin.
