New Year, New Start Week 2: This WoE works!

Welcome to Week 2 - the one where many of us (especially the newbies) will see the biggest drops. For those that don't, the drops will come. We will have seen other benefits too: brighter eyes, smaller waist (with the reduction of dangerous visceral fat from around our organs) - and all without feeling hungry Smile Week 2 is also when I find that my pschological urge to snack reduces.

Remember that you still need to adhere to the Rules. This is not a forgiving Way of Eating and if you cheat, you will set back the process of getting your body to adapt to fat burning. Only one more week of being ultra strict - it is only one more week Smile If you're thinking of cheating, come on here and we will talk you down. It really helps if you are prepared and have low carb snacks with you, or drink some water when you think you are hungry.

Keep drinking the required water ( StuntNun has explained why this is important). Avoid nuts and seeds (unless you are veggie), all fruit (you can look forward to the odd treat of berries from next week) - and no alcohol or artificial sweetender for another week.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here to remind you to keep to the straight and narrow with the Rules and with resources to advise you. You can weigh-in if you choose to, but it is not compulsory. Over the weeks, your weight loss will start to average 1-2lb a week, sometimes more sometimes less .

The Week 1 Spillover thread is here.

crap not rap

SayrraT · 16/01/2018 12:21

Just started snowing again, the roads here are ok but there are only 3 roads from work to my house and often one (at least) ends up closed with snow. One night I had to sleep at work because all three roads closed! I'm keen to avoid that again.

This is our back garden and view from front bedroom window.

Sarrya - good views! I work in Edinburgh but live in midlothian, bit snowy there. Soup for lunch I think!

prettybird · 16/01/2018 13:09

Singadream - step away from the chocolate Shock. Why are you eating it? Because it's there? That's not a good enough reason Hmm. After the first 2 weeks of strict Boot Camp, you may have the odd square of dark chocolate (I keep a bar of Lindt 90% chocolate for just that purpose and may snaffle and hide a triangle from dh's large plain Toblerone that he's opened, so I can have it after Sunday Wink)

weebarra I work in midlothian, near the Dick vet/roslin Grin I made it to penicuik then turned back.

sing find something yummy and low carb instead. What about some cheese?

prettybird · 16/01/2018 13:22

GrandOldDukeOfPorkiness - * Alwaysinmyheart 's suggestion is good, but no Splenda (or any other artificial sweetener) for the first 2 weeks. Thereafter, it can be used sparingly* , eg for a dessert.

The whole point of this WoE is to re-educate our bodies and our minds not to crave sweet stuff all the time.

After the first 2 weeks, I have read some "hot chocolate afficianadoes" claimed that the best hot chocolate is made from good quality chocolate melted into hot cream. I've yet to try it with some Lindt chocolate.

Big Stick over here @prettybird !

Been skipping breakfast, which is quite common for me. Well today, i had a little snooze during ds's extra long nap and woke up with a headache. By the time i got to the kitchen i threw up in the sink Envy and was ready to dive head first into a bowl of cereal. I managed instead to manage some ff greek yoghurt which has done the trick, and about to have another big bowl.

Breakfast from now on. I am pleased with myself for resisting the carbs though. I'm 0.6lb away from the next stone down so it's giving me extra determination !

prettybird · 16/01/2018 13:25

Snow in Glasgow meant that I had to drive to my Pilates class rather than cycle Sad - that's two weeks in a row (last week because the roads were icy).

prettybird · 16/01/2018 13:32

Thunderbolts - I think you managed to avoid the Big Stick by using your own will power. Well done! Smile

But yes, avoiding breakfast before you are fully fat-adapted and are confident that you can do intermittent fasting without falling into carby twatdom (ie can do 16:8 because you are genuinely not hungry) is not a good idea. Hmm

I don't crave sweet stuff, just toast and crisps

blackteaplease · 16/01/2018 14:02

Ooh, I'm jealous of the snow. We never get any in Devon.

I am struggling this bootcamp. I lost a stone in the last one and need to shift another 7 lbs but for some reason I keep self sabotaging.

prettybird · 16/01/2018 14:09

blackteaplease - I know you can do it - because you are indeed worth it Star

Have you worked out what your triggers are? Would it help if you came on here to get us to help you step away from the temptation?

prettybird · 16/01/2018 14:23

WhoKn0ws - from next week, you can treat yourself to the odd high fibre roll from Lidl and toast that for your butter vehicle. Grin

For a salt/umami hit, I often have a chunk of Parmesan. If you wanted something crisp, you could bake piles of grated Parmesan and let them cool.

Thanks Prettybird, it's a combination of lack of planning on works days and exhaustion from non-sleeping screen leading to poor choices

blackteaplease · 16/01/2018 14:42

Sorry, that should say non sleeping dc. I really should learn to proof read

prettybird · 16/01/2018 14:58

So you know what the answer is: make sure to keep a stash of HFLC snacks for when you are tempted by bad choices. Pepperami, salami, baby bels, sticks of cheddar will keep. Preparing extra veg the night before to have cold the following day will also help.

3lbs off for me which I'm happy with as I've been eating this way for some time.

Food today

B nothing
L three scrambled eggs topped with avocado
D steak, green beans & Savoy cabbage

SayrraT · 16/01/2018 15:03

Well done c4 that's excellent!

blackteaplease · 16/01/2018 15:10

I think I need to put myself higher up my list of priorities instead of last. There's never enough time to do everything but somehow its always me that ends up being rushed. Easy to say but hard to do.

SayrraT · 16/01/2018 15:12

You do blacktea!

SometimesMyArmsBendBack · 16/01/2018 15:34

Weight loss of nearly 4.5 lbs. !
I can't enter my start weight of 196 am I being dense?

SayrraT · 16/01/2018 15:53

I've done it for you sometimes

SometimesMyArmsBendBack · 16/01/2018 16:24

Cheers!

TheSeasonOfTheWitch · 16/01/2018 17:54

I might need the stick...Blush
Had two large arancini (no mozzarella in though), and one small bite of homemade lemon tart.
....
But I've done 25 minutes of weights in the gym and 35 minute of swimming....

PennyMise · 16/01/2018 17:56

Checking in, guys. Stayed on track today - mainly because work was so busy I let myself get properly hungry so the on plan food tastes like ambrosia Smile I also didn’t snack today which makes me think that my snacks are very much about boredom rather than real hunger.
