Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

You're getting ahead of me Ilovecherries Grin

I haven't yet logged my weight for this week but I'm going to have to go with 13 stone zero (still a pound loss from last week Smile). Although I've seen 12 stone on the scales - the fact that it is "and 13 3/4lb" means I can't yet log the 12 stone something weight on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Grin

Next week though......Smile

cafeaulaitpourvous · 25/10/2017 12:54

Fucking hell!

Popped on the scales this morning and I seem to have put 3lbs on since Monday

What the fuck?

I am on half term break and I have been as good as gold - I am decorating a bedroom on my own so lots of exercise

But (even though I am on HRT and not due on) am having a mini period so I wonder if it is water retention.

I won’t let this put me off

YoLoNovVitMe · 25/10/2017 13:04

@YoLo the avocado chips are best with slightly hard avocado but any is good. The cheese goes all hard and crispy then the avocado is soft on the inside ooohhh blacktea I'm off to buy avocados now celeriac forgotten

CremeDeSudo · 25/10/2017 13:05

I've put on 2.5lb since yesterday somehow. Don't let it worry you!

Little NSV for me - I've just eaten my favourite Pret salad and I'm stuffed. Usually I have a popcorn bar and coffee to go with it and a snack later in the afternoon!

YoLoNovVitMe · 25/10/2017 13:10

cafe read all the previous posts about riding oit the daily and weekly fluctuations. Forget about weighing for the rest of the week if the ups and downs (which are natural and inevitable) stress you out.

cafeaulaitpourvous · 25/10/2017 13:13

Thank you!

I am now treating/torturing myself with a binge watch of GBBO

God I want a bloody clanger!

Paint is drying....

YoLoNovVitMe · 25/10/2017 13:27

Damn the bake off. Worse thing to watch if you are a recovering sugar addict like me!

Better to browse the Boot camp recipe thread or diet doctor website for lchf food porn. Grin

Mimosa1 · 25/10/2017 13:38

Cherries, rshard and harlots - well said, thank you for your posts. Makes a lot of sense to have minigoals. My next one will be to lose all of baby #2 weight. At least I'll be going back to work at the same size, which will be very satisfying although I don't expect my colleagues to notice. I go back in 2 weeks and am only 1 kg off so fingers crossed :)

BIWI · 25/10/2017 13:42

For all those of you who are celeriac lovers, if you have a Pret a Manger near you, look out for this soup every Wednesday

It's totally delicious and only 5.9g carbs for the whole serving.

It makes me sad that so many years of my life were wasted binging on shit food all the time and hating myself.

Yep. I'm in a foul mood today, just really low and tired of my (really fortunate if I'm honest) boring life. And I'm reading this thread thinking about the years and years I've wasted not taking care of myself. All the things I could have done had I been a healthy weight and more active. All the joy I could have had.

Which is not to say my life has been a waste, it hasn't. But I could have done morewanted to do moreand it's very sad.

I'm still trying to recover from a years-long, severe depression. Recovery had been going well but I've been regressing somewhat recently. It's a real struggle.

The good news is that I'm not letting any other problems or issues in my life be an excuse to stop this way of eating. Who knows, I might never recover but at least I can be a healthy weight and still have all my problems. Hmm

The avocado chips sound amazing and I'm going to have them tonight.

Oh, and the Weight Watchers thing about BMI and GP note...? Unmitigated bullshit. Angry

ClearEyesFullHearts · 25/10/2017 13:48

Does anyone wish MNHQ would switch the eyebrows of Angry emoji and Envy emoji? I do. Grin

Just saying....

BIWI · 25/10/2017 13:53

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time, @ClearEyesFullHearts

But you're taking care of yourself now which is what matters. No point stressing about things you did or didn't do in the past because you can't undo them.

Focus on the future that you're creating for yourself! Flowers

Rshard · 25/10/2017 14:00

You’ve totally got that last kilo mimosa

It’s def bullshit clear. In your last post it was the fourth para that stood out for me - that’s a real positive attitude there, not letting other stuff stand in your way. As BIWI says you’re taking care of yourself

Thiswillbemyusername · 25/10/2017 14:08

@ClearEyesFullHearts it made me sad to read your post Sad but the past is the past. You've got a future ahead of you and you're making positive things happen by committing to this WOE so you should be proud of yourself, a lot of people don't bother looking after themselves ever!

Veryflummoxed · 25/10/2017 14:39

cherries Flowers
I love avocado chips not tried them with Parmesan though, sounds good.* Do you egg wash them first? I love them just fried in coconut oil and with a fried egg on top.*

Veryflummoxed · 25/10/2017 14:47

Cleareyes Flowershope you feel better soon.**

Lenl · 25/10/2017 14:51

Clear as others said, all we can do is be glad we are taking care of ourselves now. Some never manage to get to that point.

Remember the physical reasons too - high insulin from too many carbs makes us hungrier and more likely to store fat. Couple that with low calories and we're hungrier, fatter, older and sadder! The deck is stacked against us in that situation. Trying to be happy and eat well is that bit harder. Then we eat 'badly' as a result, feel worse etc... it's a vicious cycle. You should be proud of yourself for being at the point you are now Smile I am!

blackteaplease · 25/10/2017 15:02

Veryflummoxed I didon't bother to egg wash but it would probably make the cheese stick better.

Unmumsnotty hugs to all that need them today, koko everyone.

TempusEejit · 25/10/2017 15:10

It makes me sad that so many years of my life were wasted binging on shit food all the time and hating myself.

God this line has also resonated with me so much. I'm 43 years old and realised/worked out the other day that during the last 13 years i.e. the whole of my 30s and the first part of my 40s, despite being "always on a diet" I have only spent a total of 3 years out of that 13 not being officially in the obese category (and even then I only managed to get to being just towards the top end of "overweight" for nearly all that slimmer time). Now I've finally discovered keto I feel too old to truly enjoy it (my primary motivation now is my health as I was starting to get issues). I also wasted my 20s and most of my 30s with an abusive ex husband who robbed me of both my fertile and career-building years...in one way or another I feel like it's too late to un-fuck up my life. Sorry, ridiculously self indulgent attitude I know but I'm struggling to come to terms with feeling like I've achieved nothing Sad

Grimbles · 25/10/2017 15:24

I've got a celeriac Glitterball MNHQ have even provided an emoji!

Anyway, I was going to make the rosti posted earlier, but the quantities are in us measurements. What does one cup mean?

I've googled but it seems to depend on what you are measuring as to what the metric equivalent is?

Veryflummoxed · 25/10/2017 15:28

Tempus definitely not to late.* 43 is nothing.* Hardly even grown up Flowers

CremeDeSudo · 25/10/2017 15:34

@Tempus sorry I missed your freezing rosti suggestion! If I've already frozen it, is it too late?

@Grimbles I've got a selection of cups from a cheap shop that I use for American measurements. I ended up putting extra in as my frying pan was too big. Maybe grate a quarter up first and see how it goes with your pan - don't make the same mistake I did!

SayrraT · 25/10/2017 15:40

Flowers to tempus, cleareyes and anyone else who needs them.

tempus I am 100% sure that you have not achieved nothing. It's not too late for anything, even if you feel you've wasted your 20s and 30s (I'm sure you haven't) then celebrate that you are looking after yourself in your 40s. Onwards and downwards, we are all here together.

78Ash · 25/10/2017 16:20

Tried coffee with butter and coconut oil last night for the first time. Kept reading that it tastes like buttered toast and didn't believe it - but with a following wind I can see (taste) it! Not sure I got the proportions right - a knob of butter and some coconut oil scraped out of the jar, but that can be remedied. Burning the candle at both ends so wanted an after work / before work gap filler before meal time.
