Hi, I'm on medication which dehydrated me and I have to keep to low salt and also have a high potassium diet. The dietician generally recommends coconut water and bananas - does anyone know of low carb high potassium alternatives?

Have you checked with your GP whether or not low carb is OK for you, given your medication/illness/condition?

And why are you supposed to be low salt and high potassium?

If you're low carbing, and drinking lots of water, then you should be eating more salt. You also need potassium and magnesium.

You can get potassium from Lo Salt

Hi,
My neurologist is keen for me to lose weight but has no opinion/ expertise in weight loss. I know lots of people in America with my condition (Intercranial hypertension) use Keto, but it's a very rare condition with little research.

The reduced salt is due to the medication putting pressure on the kidneys ( unless I drink loads of water) and the potassium is to help with side effects of numbness and tingling in the hands.

I've been much more successful with Low carbing than low calorie diets in the past,,both in terms of losing weight and in how I feel, I don't get much support from my Dr, but I am having regular blood checks in kidney function so would be able to alter things if my kidneys were struggling. I'd forgotten about Lo salt - could be a good option whether I low carb or not!

Well, you should be drinking lots of water on a low carb diet anyway!
