Low carb and breastfeeding?

Can I do it? If I remember correctly I can't do boot camp but can I low carb still?

I'm at least 2 stone overweight which in this heat is torture. Plus I just don't feel very healthy spending most of the day sat on the sofa breastfeeding and eating crap...

DD is 9 weeks so still very young but I need to lose weight and start feeling more like myself. And fit in my summer clothes!

You can do Bootcamp, but it's advisable to do Bootcamp Light. And make sure that you aren't going hungry. You may find that you need to have some low carb snacks to hand during the night for those mid-night feeds.

How are you doing OP? I'm onto week 4, lost 8lb the first week, but nothing since. Did this before falling pregnant and lost over three stone. 2-3lb consistently per week. I'm wondering if the BF is something to do with it. Like do the hormones/your body hold on to everything for the sake of BF.

DD is 10 weeks old today so very similar to yourself!

Totally different diet but I didn't lose a single pound on slimming world until Ds was about 5 months old. I was SO looking forward to the weight just falling off as I was lead to believe bf promotes weight loss but it just didn't happen until I started mix feeding so reducing bf.

Interesting steveio as I've heard a lot of people saying the same thing. It's frustrating hearing of these people whose weight "falls off them from breastfeeding", although I'm imagining these people are naturally slim to begin with.

Sorry, I thought I'd already replied! Thanks for the advice. It's not going great so far. I think I've probably lost at least half of the weight I put on when I was pregnant but that dropped off within days of giving birth.

Plus I was about 2 stone overweight before getting pregnant so I've got a long way to go.

I think I'll try my best not to go mad on carbs until DD is weaning and then crack on properly. Only 3 months to go!

I also reluctantly stopped as i just wasn't loosing anything. The day after i resumed normal eating, i woke up to really full boobs too, so i guess it just a case of sitting tight until weaning. I really wanted to BF for more than a year this time at least but I'm really uncomfortable with how quickly i seem to be piling on the weight :-(

I'm breastfeeding my 8 week old and have started LCHF this week, I'm tracking my food though and aiming for about 50g carbs a day. It's fine for me, I feel great and supply seems unaffected.

Lost 4lbs in 4 days but I suspect that's mainly water weight. Luckily I lost the 25lbs I gained in pregnancy within a month but still have a good 3 or 4 stone to go

Hi Lenl. How are you getting on? I knocked the LC on the head as I just wasn't loosing. Dc is 4 months old now and I'm bigger than ever Sad I'm desperate to try again. Any tips?
