Morning campers Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet, once again

Hopefully those of you who have seen things slow or stop over the last couple of weeks will see the scales starting to behave themselves a bit better now Smile

One thing to be careful of, perhaps to check, is that you aren't letting carbs creep back into your diet.

If you have been keeping a food diary, why not go back to your first week and compare what you were eating then with what you're eating now?

Or go back to the week 1 chat thread and check out people's menus.

It's very easy to let things slip a little, especially once you move on to Bootcamp Light.

Hope you all have a good week.

Can somebody post me a link to the shred thing that people talk about? Thanks

ASDismynormality · 08/03/2017 08:24

Hesdead, I am really emotionally tied to food. I still feel guilty when I eat what I am used to being the 'wrong' food. After many years of struggling with my weight and being/ feeling I should be dieting it's hard not to feel food guilt. I don't think it will ever go for me unless I have a lot of expensive therapy!

It's my birthday today, usually I would make a cake but I'm not going to bother this year. Will treat myself to a coyo instead! It's also one of. Y DDs birthday on the weekend, will make her a cake and she's having Dominos for her party lunch but I won't eat any of that either, must be strong!

Hesdeadjim · 08/03/2017 09:33

ASDismynormality thank you, I feel like I'm cracking up! It just goes to show how ingrained food guilt and diet mentality is really.

This morning it's international women's day, and we have a Romanian lady on my team. In Romania, women get chocolates and presents on IWD, so she brought in a ton of chocolates for all of us. I said thanks but no thanks, and nipped to Costa to get myself a black coffee instead, then topped it up with double cream for breakfast Grin It felt indulgent and I dont feel like I've missed out :)

Morning all!

I'm having a strange period at the moment, currently on day 12 of it. I know that a few of you have talked about this already, and it is down to the oestrogen stored with the fat which gets released when the fat leaves the cells. So whilst it's no much fun having a super long and heavy (sorry TMI!) period, I'm actually weirdly happy as it shows the fat is coming off!

Only you lot would understand why I am seeing this period as a good thing!

Anyway, I was out on a school trip yesterday as a parent helper, so took coleslaw and cheese as my lunch, was v nice.

Plan for today:

B: fasting
L: left over pork belly strips which I coated in some left over low carb "KFC" type flavouring from when I used it on chicken the previous day. Was very tasty! Will have with LC coleslaw and mayo.
D: omelette with mattessons sausage and cheese, with roast broccoli on the side

Happy LC-ing everyone!

imustbepatient · 08/03/2017 09:49

Happy birthday ASDismy . Coyos feel like a treat to me now too.

Well done on the coffee swap Hesdead great move! Halo

Hesdeadjim · 08/03/2017 10:37

imustbepatient I just finished the longest period of my life, 13 days! It just went on and on and on, but then I lost 3.5lbs at the end of it so I think it did me good Grin

nekobus · 08/03/2017 10:50

So strange how this WOE messes with your periods. Mine are few and far between (mirena coil) but whenever I go hardcore LC a period arrives within a few days of starting, regardless of when the last one was. I have to say though, if I'm low carbing my period pains are virtually non existent! It's amazing as I used to get terrible cramps and dizziness and upset tum too, love this WOE!

Hopefully it will be gone soon imustbe.

Happy birthday ASD hope you enjoy your coyo - I've never found it in the shops but would love to try sometime, where do you get them? I think our local Waitrose is maybe not big enough.

SylviasDaughter · 08/03/2017 11:08

Weighed myself; lost 5lbs. Hurrah, just 472 billion to go......

Thanks BIWI , I know I need to read up on LC health benefits and I will onceIfinishthelatestJillyCooper

I am a few weeks behind you guys but am really getting into this WOE now, Not feeling hungry at all and already feel my body shape changing. Clothes feeling looser and got more energy. I found the first week hard though and had some awful headaches, hoping I am getting past that stage.

A couple of questions, does anyone here suffer with gallstones? Learnt I had them after my first pregnancy and had an attack the other night, (not had one for months previously). Looking online, they are caused by faddy low fat diets so the best thing to do is eat more fat so the gall bladder is working regularly and stones don't form but does anyone have any advice if you already have a stone?

Also can someone explain a few of the acronyms? What is coyo as mentioned above and what KOKO mean, keep seeing that one!

ASDismynormality · 08/03/2017 11:12

I get Coyo from Waitrose and Tesco, I don't think I've seen them in Sainsbury's. I also sometimes get Chia Pods www.ocado.com/webshop/product/The-Chia-Co-Chia-Pod-Vanilla--Cinnamon/250010011?from=search&tags&param=chia&parentContainer=SEARCHchia_SHELFVIEW, has anyone else tried them? They are nice as a treat (I only get the sugar feee ones).

ASDismynormality · 08/03/2017 11:14

coyo. Is a dairy free yoghurt alternative - wasn't overly keen to start with but now enjoy it!

boatgirl81 I had my gallbladder removed when I was 18 (I'm 26 now) because i had gallstones so badly it went septic. I totally sympathize with you, gallstone attacks are the absolute worst pain I've ever been in hands down. The low fat thing is really interesting, I've not heard of that before and because I was obviously overweight when I had mine removed, I was told my problems with it were due to my high fat diet... which I didn't have because I'd been on a diet from the age of 7 although I did binge eat fat and sugar like a demon, so I assumed it was because of that.

My advice if you have a stone already is have the stone removed via laser or your gallbladder removed surgically. I remember at my worst, any fatty meals used to leave me with an attack due to the gallbladder working and washing the stone into a position where it blocked the bile duct (this is what an attack is), so I imagine once you already have a stone, high fat could bring on more attacks more regularly. If the stone is big enough to block the bile duct and bring on an attack, it's too big to pass naturally so you'll need to get it removed. They can dissolve them with a laser treatment if there isn't many though, or as I said they can remove the gall bladder completely.

I don't have a gall bladder but I don't have any adverse effects what so ever from this WOE, I seem to be perfectly able to digests fats etc and don't get any symptoms at all :)

Happy birthday, ASD ! Flowers

I'm expecting my periods in the next couple of days, and feeling a bit of a hormonal mess, to be honest. I actually cried because we had run out of assam tea! The horror of having to drink darjeeling... Hmm Really very tempted to go the route of wine and chocolate, but managing to resist so far.

B: two fried eggs and a very creamy coffee
L: probably avocado salad, since I can't think of anything else
D: stir fry (pork and veggies), noodles for DH, mushrooms for me

StuntNun · 08/03/2017 13:09

Pisspot here is level 1 of the d*.

imustbepatient · 08/03/2017 13:24

If I lose 3.5lb at the end of this period I will happy take the trade off every month!

boatgirl81 · 08/03/2017 13:28

Thanks Hesdeadjim, it really is horrible when you get an attack but they are so infrequent that I am able to get on, plus I am terrified at the thought of surgery! I think I will monitor it for the next few weeks and look into surgery if they get worse. It is really interesting but even the NHS are rethinking the advice and don't recommend a low fat diet if you have gallstones, just a balanced diet with moderate amounts of fat. The gallbladder is designed to help you digest high protein fatty food and if you are not eating that then all the bile builds up to form a stone.

jumie · 08/03/2017 14:07

boatgirl81

I also developed gallstones after pregnancy and chose not to have my gall bladder removed. The removal was the only option recommended to me as I had big stones. I chose to cut fat out of my diet as I was worried about dealing with the healing process along with a baby (now a toddler).

This WOE had also resulted in an attack due to introducing fat back into my diet. What i do is to have 2 tablespoons of ACV in glass of water before bed and that seems to help as I have not had an attack since. Hope this helps.

BIWI · 08/03/2017 15:05

There's a really interesting piece about low carbing and cholesterol

GuyMartinsSideburns · 08/03/2017 17:18

Decided I would add some carbs over the next few days just because I'm too worried I won't be any good on Sunday otherwise, I've had so much time off with an injury it feels like I need all the help I can get and I don't think I've been eating enough fat in the lead up to it, in order to be able to not struggle. It's all so confusing and I'm beating myself up already. My last long run was really bloody hard work and it's knocked my confidence.

Also have dh's 1 year post cancer check up tomorrow (feels like only yesterday when I came on here and told you all he was in remission) and I'll be honest - my emotions and moods are everywhere and I can't think straight.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 08/03/2017 17:25

Even writing that I'm unsure - I really don't know what I should be doing/eating. I just want to pull out and sleep away the next few days, and I've prob undone all my hard work anyway. Tbh I wish I hadn't entered!

Moany rant over, sorry

Musicianofbremen · 08/03/2017 18:24

You can do it Guy!

If you are struggling at all just slow right down and then slow down some more 😃

BIWI · 08/03/2017 21:18

Guy Flowers

Don't beat yourself up. You're going through a tough time right now, so you need to be kind to yourself. Do what you need to, to get through the next few days.

We'll still be here for you, and you're not suddenly going to gain 4 stones if you go off piste for a couple of days Smile

Thanks BIWI I appreciate it. My heads up my arse today Blush

I've been for my last run and just had an omelette and salad, I'm back on it Smile

boatgirl81 · 09/03/2017 08:27

Thanks for the advice as well Jumie, I do use apple cider vinegar during an attack but didn't really think about it as a preventative, will give that a try. Been fine for the last few days and have had loads of fat so hopefully they will continue to be few and far between.

Good luck everyone, KOKO.
