Week 8 - Low Carb Bootcamp - how much can we lose in the next 3 weeks?!

BIWI · 07/03/2016 07:21

3 weeks?! I hear you cry! How come? Well, there are three weigh-ins left until we finish, so if we really concentrate and focus, that's a chance to lose at least three more pesky pounds.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for this week

Good luck everyone Flowers

Betsy- I made an apple crumble for the family (not for me)! and replaced the huge amounts of sugar I usually use to stew the apple with this:

www.sukrin.co.uk/sukrin-gold-all-natural-sweetener-alternative-to-brown-sugar

I think either Stuntnun or Gcal recommended it when I posted that the aftertaste from some sweeteners was horrible. No one in the family noticed any different, which is saying something! It's quite pricey but worth it I think - and I bought 3 packets of it at a discount from a buyer on Amazon.

hefzi · 11/03/2016 11:55

Sheba amazing - well done! You've really inspired me by posting this: I am also a 20, and the thought that in just a year's time, if I KOKO, that I could be wearing size 14 jeans (maybe not slim fit though Grin) has given me a much-needed kick up the (not-quite-as-enormous-as-it-was-before-BC) bum!

Guy I think that's your body adjusting to the citalopram: I took it a while back, and remember that the first week or two, I was either nauseous or starving - once it settled down, though, I found it awesome and really helpful.

AuntieMaggie · 11/03/2016 12:21

STS this week when I eventually got round to weighing as DS is sick which also means I'm drinking too much tea and not enough water!

LexLoofah · 11/03/2016 13:30

hefzi will accept the hug thank you, I don't get the unMN thing, obvs missed some thread somewhere and am v jealous of your rhubarb supply, it is bloody expensive, I love it in a crumble or with greek yog or cream or clotted cream

chester enjoy your break, sounds like a move in the right direction

B - frizzled parma ham, avocado, scr egs
L - prawns, calamari rings, bacon, shallot, garlic, cherry toms fried in coconut oil over spinach in olive oil and ACV
D - will be bacon wrapped scallops fried in coconut oil, spinach in butter and not sure what else

DH and I have decided to eat more fish so ordered a fish box thingy so got some fish for next few days plus loads more in the freezer

just sipping a peppermint tea and nibbling sq 99% choc - yes, 99%, not v chocolately but still satisfying a definitely can't overeat as never want another sq after, have a good weekend all

ShebaQueen · 11/03/2016 13:52

Thanks Hefzi, I'm so pleased it helped - I didn't want to sound boastful (that's another MN no-no Smile).

I have been overweight for about 15 years and was just getting bigger and bigger. I had zero control around carbs and I'm pretty sure I was borderline diabetic, although I was in denial. It wasn't (and still isn't) easy to break long term habits but the rewards in terms of my health have made it so worth it - along with being able to shop anywhere I like.

Ironically I am fully in control in all other aspects of my life - career, finances etc, but carbs were and probably always will be my nemesis.....

DiscoDancer · 11/03/2016 15:16

Right, back on it from today. Need to snap out out of this laziness! Already feel 'fat' again and I don't like this feeling!

Wombatinabathhat · 11/03/2016 15:55

I'm the same Disco Sad
Sheba Well done, it must have felt amazing getting those jeans on.
Chester Have a fantastic weekend Thanks

shouldiblowthewhistle · 11/03/2016 18:34

Oh some great news here! Guy - really pleased for you, what an incredible relief that must be. Sheba that's really inspirational, and well done!

Flowers for anyone who is struggling in any way.

Chester have a great weekend.

Disco and Wombat well done for getting back on it.

I've managed to lose another few pounds this week so far, so a total of half a stone now. So relieved all that KOKO paid off. Had a right bloody awful week work-wise (just one of many incidents - someone shouted "You're a fucking bitch" in my face this morning) but I've stuck to it. Except I'm having a full bottle of prosecco tonight. And I have no guilt about that! I've been a bloody angel for 3 weeks Grin

Have a great weekend all - I've guests all weekend so may not be around much.

Wombatinabathhat · 11/03/2016 18:45

wow should Shock What a prat!
I'm glad you've done so well as iirc you struggled a bit when you first joined the thread. Well done and enjoy your weekend Thanks

BetsyM00 · 11/03/2016 19:07

Glad you're finally seeing this diet work for you should.

Lovely to hear of your weight loss Sheba. I'm another one who started at a size 20, though 18s are now getting quite loose on me! Bet you feel lovely and slender now!

Thanks for all the sweetener recommendations. I remade the strawberry cheesecake fatbombs and some peppermint chocolate fatbombs without any sweeteners at all, and they were just lovely! My tastebuds have definitely adapted.

I'll keep the sukrin in mind for my next foray into making deserts, if I really feel the need to add anything. But as my gut has not stopped churning since the Truvia incident I think I'll be steering clear of all the polyols for a long time.

NigellasGuest · 12/03/2016 09:22

Actually Betsy I have a feeling they trigger headaches in me - I always seem to get one after indulging. I agree with what you said a few posts back about control when other things in life are problematic - I am exactly the same.

Delighted to see ShouldI had had a loss!

NigellasGuest · 12/03/2016 09:25

And Sheba too!

And BlackTea how is your DD?

blackteaplease · 12/03/2016 18:52

Dd is coping remarkably well. She is having to have a lot of laxatives but it seems to be working. Fingers crossed she will be back at school on Monday.

I am planning to try courgette fries tonight with Cajun chicken breasts. Inam definitely enjoying being creative in the kitchen again.

NigellasGuest · 12/03/2016 20:00

That's good to know, BlackTea - poor thing though Sad

I weighed this morning and I'm down a lb, woohoo! I will wait and see if it's gone back on again though, when I do my weekly Monday weigh in, because it could be one of those mid-week fluctuations.

I'm still doing 16:8 and it's suiting me well.

LexLoofah · 12/03/2016 20:27

well today went a bit pear shaped in the middle but back on track now

B - smoked mackerel, spinach in butter, scr eggs
L - well can't call it that really as not a meal, out for much longer than expected with the DCs so ended up having a hot dog minus the bun and something else that was definitely not OK, dear god it was awful, so annoying to have to cheat on something that was not enjoyable - bah!
D - courgette, celeriac, shallots and bass, lovely

having a final tea and some 90% choc, good job there is nothing more sinful in the house as would definitely be having it right now, think it is totm soon

BIWI · 12/03/2016 21:19

OK. I'm back! Funeral was as lovely as these things can be. MIL is not surprisingly devastated, but seems to be pretty well, given the circumstances (and the fact that she's also 92).

Food and drink choices not surprisingly way off piste.

So back on track as from tomorrow.

Yes welcome back BIWI and condolences 🌹

blackteaplease · 13/03/2016 09:22

Nice to see you back BIWI. I am glad it was a good funeral.

I need a whack with the stick please. I am struggling with willpower due to sleep deprivation and put on a pound this week.

hefzi · 13/03/2016 11:26

BIWI glad it went as well as could be expected Flowers

And another big hug for Lex too, as well as anyone else who's having a tough time atm (should - your week sounds horrendous: worthy of bathing in Prosecco just for that one example you gave. Hope you're OK) and thanks to Betsy for that amazing looking recipe - I love cheesecake!

BIWI · 13/03/2016 12:45

Sleep deprivation is a bit of a bugger, isn't it?

Best advice on that front - avoid caffeine after lunch, no screen time in the hour or so before you go to bed (laptop, PC, tablet or phone!), have a long soak in the bath and if you have any lavender oil, a few drops on your pillow.

Oh, and avoid alcohol. You may get off to sleep quicker, but you're more likely to wake during the night.

Drink plenty of water and have a couple of really strict days, and you should see that pesky pound disappear as quickly as it arrived.

I'm back on things tomorrow, having been all over the place over the last three weeks.

I'm cross as I'd just dropped half a stone, and I suspect it's well and truly back. So I'm not weighing tomorrow, just going to have a strict Bootcamp week. Will also get back into the exercise, which I haven't been doing as much of either, because of work as well as family events.

OP posts:
ThumbWitchesAbroad · 13/03/2016 13:32

Glad you're back ok, BIWI and things went as well as these things can. Hope your MIL has people around her to keep her going. I think that's often the worst part, after all the initial shock and up to the funeral, there always seem to be people everywhere; but then after the funeral they just tail off.

I'm not even talking about my eating. It's just not worth it. I'm doing Boot Camp again starting tomorrow. KOKO.

DrDiva · 13/03/2016 13:55

Glad it went as well as possible BIWI

I am a bit up and down. Great during the week and not so great at weekends. Getting much much better st the water though, which I am pleased about.

Flowers for everyone, I think. Life seems pretty tough at present.

WhatDat · 13/03/2016 14:23

I have recently nc but I'm glad it went ok BIWI and good luck for getting back on track. I'll be doing the same
