Week 8 - Low Carb Bootcamp - how much can we lose in the next 3 weeks?!

BIWI · 07/03/2016 07:21

3 weeks?! I hear you cry! How come? Well, there are three weigh-ins left until we finish, so if we really concentrate and focus, that's a chance to lose at least three more pesky pounds.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for this week

Good luck everyone Flowers

Thanks lovelies. And more Thanks all round to everyone.

Added you, Feek and Disco. :)

I'm REALLY thirsty today - it's 'orribly hot again, so have been sweating too much - hopefully this will help me achieve the right level of water intake.

Does anyone ever have this feeling that water isn't quite wet enough? I know that sounds really stupid, but sometimes when I'm really thirsty, I feel like it's just not cutting it and I need something else (no idea what!) that's even wetter - but maybe I just need more and more water?
Weird.

ChesterDrawers · 08/03/2016 06:54

Sorry to hear about your dad BIWI Flowers

Thanks for all the kind words about my own situation. It's been rumbling on for a while and came to a head last week. TBH it feels a relief to talk about it and now hopefully we can't move on.

First day back on plan yesterday went to plan. Today looks like this:
B: eggs, butter
L: tuna, avocado, salad, olive oil
D: omelette with mushroom, shallot, Parma ham, cheese, salad with olive oil

BetsyM00 · 08/03/2016 07:40

Weighing in today as I spent most of yesterday driving. A lovely 5lb whoosh taking me to 207. I don't really have a target weight in mind but it would be nice to be under 200 by the end of bootcamp.

BIWI · 08/03/2016 07:54

Thumb - if you're constantly thirsty that apparently is a sign that you need more sodium. And if you're hot/sweating, you're probably even more in need of it.

Lovely woosh Betsy!

Flowers Chester Sad I hope you manage to work things out.

I'm still here. A busy few weeks but managing to stay on track pretty much. DF is away and I'm going through 10 shades of hell with toddler and baby. I think this week's loss is going to be a good one: I feel like I'm running a marathon every day.

I've discovered cream cheese. It isn't on my list of ok things to eat but it is lower carb than yoghurt and is amazing with a bit of single cream and lemon oil and sweetner. It is like cheesecake.

Keep going every one!

BetsyM00 · 08/03/2016 08:12

I couldn't be without cream cheese; I spread it on bacon for breakfast. Lidl tubs are only 2.9g carbs.

StuntNun · 08/03/2016 08:33

Thumb that feeling that water isn't wet enough probably means you need electrolytes as well as water.

DrDiva · 08/03/2016 08:42

Good morning I am still here koko with a few hiccups along the way but nothing too major. Flowers from me too for all those having a tough time.
thumb my sister is a TEFL teacher and has lived in several tropical countries - it was really interesting when she said that she craved different kinds of liquid depending on the type of heat, but almost never water. I remember it was green tea in one place, though I can't remember where!

NigellasGuest · 08/03/2016 09:06

Thumb I really get what you say about alcohol. I used to get through loads of wine every week. I used to start looking forward to it at around 4pm, and every morning thought that's it, but 4pm would come around again and then I'd count down to 6pm and start again.

It was impossible and unthinkable to relax or do anything in the evening without it. However I've been teetotal now for about 5 months and don't miss it. This has also played a big part in cutting my sugar cravings.

I have found that a big part of it was HABIT. Even though at the time I felt I must have a drink problem, I realise now it was just HABIT. If you can manage to change the habit for a few nights, you will find it easier. For example, instead of sitting downstairs in the evening, go upstairs or somewhere you don't normally drink. This might even mean going to bed really early - just reading or MNing but in bed - somewhere you don't ever drink or associate with drinking. Then you will break the habit. Good luck- it worked for me so that means it could work for you, because I drank like a fish!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/03/2016 09:24

Thanks Nigella - wish I could get away from the boys earlier, but sadly that's not an option - but I do get what you're saying about the habit, so will try to break it.

And BIWI, Stunt and Diva - that's a good point about sodium/electrolytes - will try to have something with a bit more oomph in it than just the water. PRobably explains why I enjoy my sparkling mineral water more than just plain water!

KOKO everyone!

knowclue · 08/03/2016 09:49

Hello all, might a kind person please log me at 135 please? Am full of cold and sloshing away with all the cups of lemon tea my DD keeps bringing me! Clothes are feeling a bit looser and my face is def thinner, really hoping to hit my target weight by the end of BC.
Have a Good week everyone!

LexLoofah · 08/03/2016 10:25

I see it is National Pie Week - sigh - I don't suppose there is a low carb week, will have to content ourselves with National Butchers Week coming up next week

nigella well done on breaking the drinking habit, that is brilliant

I've added you know That looks like a great loss in the last 2 weeks.
Betsy Fantastic news on your loss.
gives self a kick up the arse to get back on track

StuntNun · 08/03/2016 16:10

I have eaten so much cr@p today. It's hard finding things that aren't carby to eat when you've had a tummy bug isn't it? I honestly think I would eat a Pot Noodle right now, without even needing someone to hold a gun to my head.

BIWI · 08/03/2016 17:17

This looks interesting - zero carbs!

OP posts:
LexLoofah · 08/03/2016 17:19

stunt poor you, hope you feel better - do you have any stock?

B - bacon, eggs, courgettes in butter, about 10 blueberries
L - used leftover garlic cauli bread to make grilled cheese sandwhich, spinach with oli dressing, 2 cherry toms, cucumber, sq 95% dark choc
D - will be cauli pepperoni pizza, lettuce, hm mayo, cucumber

all told a high-ish day plus 2 lots of dairy which I was trying to keep low, hmmm, try again tmrw

DrDiva · 08/03/2016 17:26

lex you could start a low carb week - just google the instructions on how to start one's own national holiday! I'm sure it's not at all time-consuming. Grin

stunt hope you feel better soon. Tummy bug is never remotely fun.

Sorry to hear you're poorly StuntNun. But I'm sure a Pot Noodle won't make you feel better!

OP posts:
StuntNun · 08/03/2016 21:46

Nope. It's just that you always want nice bland carbs after a tummy upset. I went for chicken and leek soup instead. Hopefully it was just one of those 24 hour things and I'll be right as rain tomorrow.

LexLoofah · 09/03/2016 10:12

drdiva I had a look and the national awareness website wanted to charge me £195 so I guess everyone else will have to remain in ignorance for now, I will just try to spread the word amongst family and friends as really worry now about their health seeing what they are eating, especially in the belief that it is healthy i.e. margarine, non-fat yogurt etc

Coming on for advice: I know quite a few of you have the Lurch Spiralizer, are you happy with it? I am thinking of getting one, not so much for courgetti but for making shaved salads and coleslaw as my mandolin is rubbish for anything that is not potato or onion sized/shaped and the vertical lurch one looks like it will do the job - thoughts?

DrDiva · 09/03/2016 16:57

£195 for the privilege of doing the world a favour? Shock definitely the word of mouth route then!

Wombatinabathhat · 09/03/2016 17:26

No advice Lex sorry.

Just checking in. I have been off track and feel heavy and bloated. Why do I do it to myself Sad
