Week 3 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - Decision Time

SayrraT · 26/10/2015 07:36

Since BIWI is off sunning herself in Barbados this week I am starting the new thread.

Hope last week was a good week for you, here is teh spreadsheet to record your losses on. Or, in my case, gain Hmm

In week 3 you can now make a decision. If you've done a full two weeks of BC you should now be well adapted to the LCHF WOE and can move onto BCLite. This means that you can skip breakfast (or lunch or dinner) if you are not hungry, on BC you should have been eating 3 meals a day. On BCLite you eat when you are hungry.

You can also add some foods which were not allowed on BC:

Some fruit - berries (occasionally, the carb counts are available on the spreadsheet).

Nuts/seeds - these are good for snacks but do remember that they can be quite carby if you eat loads so be careful.

Alcohol (once or twice per week and stick with clear spirits with soda water, champagne, red wine or dry white wine - remember, alcohol can impede weight loss.

We are still avoiding sugar and artificial sweeteners but this can make things difficult so for special occasions you can have certain things. Check out the recipe thread for dessert ideas for special dinners (BIWIs chocolate pots de creme are my favourite).

Don't go mad with all the extra things we are allowed, week 3 (and 4 & 5) are notorious for no weight loss for some reason. Some of you may even see a gain. KOKO and this will pass.

B: ff total, cinnamon, coffee with cream
L: chicken, avocado, green salad, hm mayo
D: baked sea bream, roasted veg

Starving when I got home so had a handful of pork scratchings

CalmYoBadSelf · 30/10/2015 18:45

I went to personal trainer today so got weighed on the super-super scales. As I've said before I don't want to know what I weigh as I then focus on it and stress too much (I know I am very large and don't need to know any more than that!) Over the last 2 weeks I have been very good except for going out for dinner twice, having 2 days out eating on the hoof and a dinner dance with a set menu so not perfect however I have still lost 4lb! Even better because I have gained some muscle so the fat loss is even more than that Grin

Now I just need to repeat that a lot of times!

LexLoofah · 31/10/2015 17:32

b - spinach, mushroom, bacon omelette, cuppa, BPC
L - hm lc cracker bread with butter, pate. Brie, air dried ham
D quick snacky tea needed so toasted more crackerbread and spread with butter to swerve the crumpets the DCs were having

Have a crabbys crumble assembled ready in the fridge for later with jersey extra thick cream, will bake when trick or treaters have stopped bothering us

Not enough Veg or water today, but given it is sweets tastic at our house could have been much, much worse

ChesterDrawers · 31/10/2015 18:10

Quiet on here this week - hope everyone is surviving the tricky treats? We've got loads of sweets and so far no one has knocked much to DS's disappointment.

DH has a crop of mouth ulcers so food is currently soft. Hard finding something to please us both.

Today:
B eggs, butter, cream
L: large chunk of cheddar, pack of M&s crispy bacon strips
D: will be swede hash - swede, corned beef, topped with cheese

So too much dairy and processed and not enough veg out or water. Fuck!

BIWI · 31/10/2015 18:16

Evening all!

Back from Barbados and had a very lovely time. But definitely not BC Grin

So properly back on the wagon from Monday.

About to have panfried duck breast with celeriac mashed with blue cheese and a bit of cream, and roasted tenderstem broccoli. Yum!

CharlieSierra · 31/10/2015 18:57

That sounds good BIWI, glad you had a good time.

B: ff total, cinnamon, coffee with cream
L: avocado, bacon, Brie
D: IPD hot Thai beef salad

I'm feeling a bit off colour and lightheaded, but I have lost 4lbs . Not sure yet if it's carb flu or I'm coming down with something.

EwanHoozami · 01/11/2015 09:45

I'm parking my capacious backside here because I'm starting again tomorrow after a few months of being quite crap.

DartmoorDoughnut · 01/11/2015 13:19

Oh god the sugar! I'm having my first baby free day in over a year and I've eaten my body weight in sweets - we had no trick or treaters - and ice cream I'll be back on the band wagon now, have a splitting headache as a result!

Wombatinabathhat · 01/11/2015 14:53

Hello all. I resisted eating any of the treats but did have some alcohol last night. It was planned.
I've done ok all weekend and not strayed when eating.
Today dinner will be brisket, cauliflower and cabbage.
I've made my curry for lunches next week.

Bring it on! Good luck everyone

LexLoofah · 01/11/2015 17:33

wombat how do you do your brisket? Also, is it nice cold next day to make 'sandwiches'? I have never had it.

B - avocado, baked field mushroom with egg cracked in and cheddar on top, presentation was a bit questionable but tasted lovely
L - out at a National Trust place which are never very good for LC what with all the cakes, jacket potatoes and sandwiches. managed to get lamb meatballs minus the pasta with a side salad and stirred in 2 pats of butter for good measure
D - celeriac corned beef hash from the recipe thread with two fried eggs - heavenly comfort food. I had ketchup with it though but measured it out to make under 2g carbs. I looked online and could have made a LC one but then I would be having it on everything, figured the real stuff on very rare occasions would be better in the long run??

Wombatinabathhat · 01/11/2015 17:46

Lex - DH made it today. He put it in a roasting bag with half a chopped onion and slow roasted it. It was fantastic. Too tender to slice. We never have any left the following day Blush
I used to slice onions in a casserole dish, together with carrots and crumble in an oxo. Place brisket on top then add half a pint of water. Lid on and slow cook in the oven.

halfthesize · 01/11/2015 18:24

Eve bootcampers, I did the original bootcamps a couple of years ago and have managed to keep most of the weight off.
However, just had a rough 18 months followed by a hysterectomy and have gained a stone. This now has to go, so I'm back Grin
Can I please be added to the spreadsheet

Wombatinabathhat · 01/11/2015 18:30

Welcome half
I can add you to the bottom of the spreadsheet. What do you want to show as a start weight?

halfthesize · 01/11/2015 18:34

Hi Wombat
I'm a 147lbs Blush

Wombatinabathhat · 01/11/2015 19:39

It's done half
I'm sure sayyra will put you alphabetically when she next checks the sheet. Smile

halfthesize · 01/11/2015 20:35

ThanksThankyou

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 02/11/2015 06:11

I suck at this.
I have to not suck at this. I have to. The chocolate is killing me, I know it is - but for some reason I still can't kick it. :(

SO here I am, having put back on the 2lb I lost last week, because of the chocolate-killing-me situation, and I'm starting again. It didn't at all help that I went on a wine tour with the school P&C (name we use for PTA) on Saturday that also took in a chocolate and cheese place. Cheese = good, chocolate = not, obvs. Wine = excellent but not for Bootcamp.

Be gentle with me, I know I need the Big Stick and I'm thoroughly ashamed of myself, but I have to carry on.

So, again - off I go.

DartmoorDoughnut · 02/11/2015 07:45

I'm with you in the naughty corner Thumb and have also put 2lbs back on! Had a slightly insane sweet/ice cream rampage yesterday Blush back on track this morning!

Billionnairewannabe · 02/11/2015 07:55

Been at a conference all weekend so managed on yoghurt for bf, salad at lunch, meat & veg at dinner. 3l of water per day.

Day 21 - I have lost 2.75 lbs this week. So I am now 3 lbs off being a stone lighter than I was 3 weeks ago Grin That is amazing and no diet has ever done that for me before. Elated although still got a long way to go.

As a newbie to BC, to anyone still struggling with hunger or temptation issues I would say check you are following the rules to the letter. Are you eating enough fat? No artificial sweeteners? Are you really low carb or are some getting sneaked in? I had a hungry day last week so I knew something had gone wrong. I upped my fat, ate very low carb and bingo back to not feeling hungry.

Today's a new day, new week so really look at the rules and you can definitely be nearly a stone lighter by Christmas which has got to be worth it!! Don't beat yourself up, just follow the rules and you'll get there - it works!!

regenerationfez · 02/11/2015 08:12

Hi I am still stuck on my 4lb first week weight loss, so am nalso in the naughty corner! Tried the Vodka and soda on holiday, didn't like it so cracked open the red wine as I was doing BC lite...one week and 3 bottles later, I've decided I need to knock the alcohol on the head! The chocolate is also killing me, so I suspect BC lite isn't really going to help me! This week is BC proper againShock Chin up troops!

NoPieInPumpkin · 02/11/2015 08:43

3lb off for me this week :) Very pleased as I've been so ill all week and making lots of poor food choices as a result. I've taken a sick day today as I'm no better but have kept my hands and head out of the biscuit barrel. Hoping that having my feet up for the day will knock this stomach flu on the head.

Off to catch up with the thread. Hope everyone has had a great week!

glenthebattleostrich · 02/11/2015 08:53

Hello

I'm back after another week of child related lurgie. Couldn't stick to it last week as could hardly eat but still only a 1lb (ish) loss.

Never mind, tis a new week and I'm (fairly) lurgie free so onwards and downwards ;)

Today I've had some yogurt with a few blueberries
Lunch will be some sizzle steaks with chesse and salad
Tea lamb koftas, garlic mushrooms and Greek salad

Have a great day everyone

Bostin · 02/11/2015 09:00

Hi all I was wondering if I could ask a couple of questions. I did the boot camp a few years ago to great success and I just wanted to check there has been no changes to this way of eating?
Also I have graves disease. The happy consequence of this used to be that I would lose weight, but now despite still having all the other horrible effects of my condition I am piling on the pounds! I just wanted to check whether anyone knew whether it was ok for me to go on this diet with graves?

WhiffyBiffer · 02/11/2015 09:36

Completed my first week and down 3lb so very happy with that.

Trying to focus on how much better this woe is making me feel rather than what the scales say so hopefully will be more sustainable.

fluffywol · 02/11/2015 09:50

After losing a paltry 3/4lb in the previous two weeks I seem to be 3.4lb down this week. That's exactly 2st loss in total. You can imagine how chuffed I am Smile Only 1st to go till my first target, hopefully by Christmas.
