Week 3 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - Decision Time

SayrraT · 26/10/2015 07:36

Since BIWI is off sunning herself in Barbados this week I am starting the new thread.

Hope last week was a good week for you, here is teh spreadsheet to record your losses on. Or, in my case, gain Hmm

In week 3 you can now make a decision. If you've done a full two weeks of BC you should now be well adapted to the LCHF WOE and can move onto BCLite. This means that you can skip breakfast (or lunch or dinner) if you are not hungry, on BC you should have been eating 3 meals a day. On BCLite you eat when you are hungry.

You can also add some foods which were not allowed on BC:

Some fruit - berries (occasionally, the carb counts are available on the spreadsheet).

Nuts/seeds - these are good for snacks but do remember that they can be quite carby if you eat loads so be careful.

Alcohol (once or twice per week and stick with clear spirits with soda water, champagne, red wine or dry white wine - remember, alcohol can impede weight loss.

We are still avoiding sugar and artificial sweeteners but this can make things difficult so for special occasions you can have certain things. Check out the recipe thread for dessert ideas for special dinners (BIWIs chocolate pots de creme are my favourite).

Don't go mad with all the extra things we are allowed, week 3 (and 4 & 5) are notorious for no weight loss for some reason. Some of you may even see a gain. KOKO and this will pass.

B-3 egg omelette with cheese
L-Chicken Soup and a Babybel
D-Trout with leeks and runner beans

How much fat is everyone eating? Think I'm on average of about 100 a day and worried this is too high? Keeping carbs under 50

nekobus · 28/10/2015 18:11

Yesterday
B - tried bulletproof coffee - very filling!
L - salad with avocado, olives and roast chicken
D - steak with broccoli and salad

Today
B - 2 hb eggs with butter and chorizo slices
L - chicken leg and salad
D - most likely leftover roast chicken pieces and salad

Dartmoor I've been keeping track on mfp and have been doing betwee 80-110g fat and usually 10-20g carbs. I aim for % of 60 fat, 30 protein and 10 carbs.

Struggling with the water! I spend all day running to the loo if I have the 3L I think I'm supposed to for 13st Confused

Billionnairewannabe · 28/10/2015 19:26

Day 17

B - 3 raspberries/5 blueberries yoghurt & flax seeds (does the trickGrin) Black Americano
L - ham & egg salad
D - braised beef mushrooms green beans broccoli.
Dartmoor not really measuring fat just trying to have some at each meal ie. Cooking, veg with butter on, or cream. But I am getting quite fat fed up now! Is there a min amount of fat we should be having?

CalmYoBadSelf · 28/10/2015 19:48

I once tried MFP and thought it was about to combust with my fat consumption!

B: Left over bobotie mixed with creamy scrambled eggs
L: Homemade creamy leek soup, leftover salmon with prawns and mayo
T: Thai green chicken curry with stir fried veg
Confession: I also ate an Atkins bar as I feel starving today for some reason. Made very little difference as I am still hungry which is weird because I know I shouldn't be

CharlieSierra · 28/10/2015 20:22

B: avocado, coffee with cream
L: tuna, green salad, hm mayo
D: salmon, stir fry veg in coconut oil with garlic, ginger, chilli & sprinkle of sesame oil

DartmoorDoughnut · 28/10/2015 21:18

Thanks neko and billionnaire maybe I should lower my carbs more to try and balance out the fat? I don't think I eat that much, each section on MFP has the same amount of fat, must try harder to not snack!

DartmoorDoughnut · 28/10/2015 21:20

calm can I ask if you just ignored MFP and happily continued to loose or if you took down your fat intake? Hoping it's the former not the latter!

Savagebeauty · 28/10/2015 21:46

OK I'm in.
I'm 55, menopausal and put on a stone in a year due to divorce, getting kids through A levels and GCSEs and generally eating crap.
But from Monday I want to get back to the old me. I am quite good at losing weight but a bit of support doesn't go amiss.
I'm renewing gym membership on Monday to get me out of the house and away from the fridge.
Currently six feet tall, 12 stone 3 and that's the heaviest I've ever been Shock

CalmYoBadSelf · 29/10/2015 00:33

Dartmoor It scared me so I tried to reduce my fat but found my weight loss slowed and I lost the plot as I couldn't get the balance of what I was eating right hence I am back here again. I'm not recording my intake now and am just trying to judge it myself but I have loads and loads to lose so it may be different when you have less to lose

DartmoorDoughnut · 29/10/2015 02:27

Thanks calm the only way I'm going to not cheat is by noting it down but hopefully I can ignore the results lol

ShebaQueen · 29/10/2015 08:53

Hello all, I'm late updating the spreadsheet as have been away for a couple of days. 2 pounds down woohoo! Need to stock up on low carb goodies for the fridge today Smile

LexLoofah · 29/10/2015 09:59

savage welcome! sounds like it has been a tough year for you. Just checking you have read the rules. Some of us are on BC lite, some doing BC for a bit longer, just to explain why some post about eating nuts, berries, dark choc that aren't allowed in first two weeks

ChesterDrawers · 29/10/2015 12:59

Afternoon all, checking in for another day. Not hungry again, so going withthe flow today:

B: BPC
L: M&S crispy bacon strips, guacamole
D: Two chicken thighs, with something veg related

LexLoofah · 29/10/2015 14:31

playdate this morning and the Mum who doesn't know I am LCHF brought my absolutely favourite biscuits ever, have nail marks on my palms from resisting all morning. Thankfully the two lovely chaps from British Gas here to sort out our lack of hot water were more than happy to polish them off so crisis averted!

B - buttery scramble, avo, cheddar with butter
L - shrimp baked in hm pesto & olive oil over spinach with hm mayo, sq dark choc
D - will be the lamb donner from the recipe thread that I had forgotten about until the other day, will do with some veg or other & more butter

WhiffyBiffer · 29/10/2015 16:30

Hello there, I know I'm late to the party but I'd love to join. Have watched from afar for a while and finally taking the plunge. My bmi is 32 so I've got a fair bit to lose. I've got a history of yo yo ing tho it's been a while since I last lost weight. I'm done with 'diets' as I've proved again and again low fat & calorie counting or 'just trying to eat less/healthier' doesn't work for me. I'm also an emotional eater with some binge eating tendencies and sugar renders me unable to control myself! Had dd3 4 months ago but life is busy tho at least I'm home during the day and eating out is rarer!

Can I check I'm doing it right? Over the last couple of days have been having things like buttery fried eggs, bacon, few tomatoes and mushrooms for bfast, salad with bought 'real mayo' or oil with cold meat or avocado, dinner of meat in a creamy hm sauce with veg and snacking a lot on lettuce & pate, cheese, full fat natural yogurt. Havinb black tea or coffee with cream.
Ate out and had moules frites but without the frites and creamy spinach instead.
Does that sound sort of ok?
Is it really ok to have cream every day?

regenerationfez · 29/10/2015 16:55

Hi, well I have had a terrible time on my week baway- too much wine, not enough veg, some naughtiness in the form of a delicious cream tea Blush. Haven't weighed myself. However, I am very impressed with my reduced appetite and my reduced ability to eat sweet things so am going to go bstraight back on the wagon. I fully expect to have put on all the weight I lost thoughHmm

CharlieSierra · 29/10/2015 18:27

B: ff total with cream and cinnamon
L: avocado, crispy bacon, Brie
D: chicken and (celeriac) chips with salad and hm mayo

Also had a couple of coffees with cream and a marmite cheese. Not enough water!

Billionnairewannabe · 29/10/2015 18:55

Day 19 and I've fallen off the wagon but not sure why/how?!

Been ravenously hungry all day which could be either a. Shift work (got up at 4am) and early starts always make me reach for the carbs or b somehow I've come out of ketosis but not sure how? Yesterday we were out all day and my SIL assured me that there was no flour in gravy but feel like I must have taken on high carbs somewhere to be feeling this hungry. I did have packet of Mayo on salad yesterday which said 6.9 carbs so I only had less than half packet. Realised blueberries are 12 carbs so won't be having too many of them but could that amount of carbs push me over the edge?

Anyway made me realise not to get too cocky as easy to fall off wagon. Today I have tried to beat the cravings with water, sugar free 7up, a few nuts, and large veg meals.

Back to bootcamp for me tomorrow Confused.

B - omelette bacon Tom mushroom black coffee
Mid morning ham & boiled egg
L - low carb sausages aubergines tomatoes avocado (to stave off hunger!)
Mid afternoon small handful almonds & pistachios
D chicken & veg stir fry. Cream with 5 blueberries

LexLoofah · 29/10/2015 19:46

update: for the lamb donner I ended up doing cabbage wraps by spreading out two cabbage leaves, brushing with olive oil and baking for about 10 mins, worked really well, will do those again

whiffy welcome and that sounds OK, after the first few weeks you should need a snack less and less, make sure you drink your water ( amount depends on your weight, see the rules for the table). Cream is OK but not unlimited, it is a good way to add fat but it does have carbs and dairy can stall some people but a few creamy coffees a day and creamy sauces should be OK, it is butter that is unlimited, look for ways to include it at each meal

If you like you can add yourself to the bottom of the spreadsheet to track your losses

Wombatinabathhat · 29/10/2015 19:51

Welcome Whiffy
Your meals look ok but be careful with dairy as it can stall weight loss for some me
If you find you don't lose anything then dairy should be the first thing to look at. I've been having cream in coffee but avoiding milk and cheese.
Good luck Thanks

Wombatinabathhat · 29/10/2015 19:52

cross post Lex Smile

nekobus · 29/10/2015 20:58

I've been really hungry today, no idea why! Was working from home and a bit bored so that didn't help - lots of snacking, will try to reign it in tomorrow...

B - 2 hb eggs with butter, chorizo slices, coffee and cream
L - beef frying steak, spinach & mushrooms in cream
D - salmon in dill sauce, broccoli and courgette w lots of butter
S - cheese, chorizo, Parma ham, bits of leftover steak while standing at the fridge Blush

Will be busy with the kids tomorrow so hope that will keep me from raiding the fridge all day!

ShebaQueen · 30/10/2015 08:40

Morning all, day off for me today so had time to make a cheese and spinach omelette for breakfast rather than my usual convenience breakfast hard boiled egg concoction. Going to a party this weekend and I can fit in a size 16 and even a 14 in some shops - so many clothes choices compared to when I was a size 20 starting LC back in April! Flowers to BIWI and Sayrra.

Have a good day and weekend everyone.

LexLoofah · 30/10/2015 13:40

Well done sheba that's brilliant news!

B - leftover slices of lamb donner fried in butter, broccoli stalks in butter
L - crayfish mayo salad, a few berries with jersey double cream and grating of dark choc - was a bit like trifle, mmmm
D will be 5 spice pork ribs that are currently in the slow cooker, smells wonderful, prob with buttered cabbage

Have a good weekend y all

regenerationfez · 30/10/2015 14:33

Well I weighed myself and to my surprise In haven't obtained any weight! I haven't lost, but haven't gained so yipee!! Today I've had
Greek youghurt and lots of coffee with a splash of milk each
a pack of chicken pieces from Sainsburys which were 1g of carb per 100g.
Am about to go shopping so will decide what to do with my pork shoulders.
that doesn't seem like a lot of food but I'm not hungrySmile
Can we have quorn mince BTW?
