Week 3 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - Decision Time

Since BIWI is off sunning herself in Barbados this week I am starting the new thread.

Hope last week was a good week for you, here is teh spreadsheet to record your losses on. Or, in my case, gain Hmm

In week 3 you can now make a decision. If you've done a full two weeks of BC you should now be well adapted to the LCHF WOE and can move onto BCLite. This means that you can skip breakfast (or lunch or dinner) if you are not hungry, on BC you should have been eating 3 meals a day. On BCLite you eat when you are hungry.

You can also add some foods which were not allowed on BC:

Some fruit - berries (occasionally, the carb counts are available on the spreadsheet).

Nuts/seeds - these are good for snacks but do remember that they can be quite carby if you eat loads so be careful.

Alcohol (once or twice per week and stick with clear spirits with soda water, champagne, red wine or dry white wine - remember, alcohol can impede weight loss.

We are still avoiding sugar and artificial sweeteners but this can make things difficult so for special occasions you can have certain things. Check out the recipe thread for dessert ideas for special dinners (BIWIs chocolate pots de creme are my favourite).

Don't go mad with all the extra things we are allowed, week 3 (and 4 & 5) are notorious for no weight loss for some reason. Some of you may even see a gain. KOKO and this will pass.

Thanks for the info Dr Sayrra!
2.25 lbs off. Actually think it would be a bit more if I could erm.. go to the loo! However I have definitely noticed it in clothes etc and can see a difference, so feeling motivated by that.

Think I'm on a roll with BC but will def add in a few berries to see if that relieves things Wink. Had a large black Americano this morning and now having peppermint tea. Any other ideas?!

Apart from that, I am enjoying this WOE. Enjoy not feeling hungry or the need to raid the biscuit tin every two mins.

Wombatinabathhat · 26/10/2015 16:40

Hello all.
Thank for the new thread Doc Wink
2 lbs off for me.

B: Ham and mayo
L: Lamb,aubergine and courgette curry
D: Pork chop and mushrooms in butter

coffee with cream

SayrraT · 26/10/2015 18:43

Dartmoor if you were hungry why did you eat porridge? There are a million LC things you could have ad for breakfast. If you start at this stage eating porridge because you are hungry then you will never get into to LC WOE.

yongnian this year I did what you did...I call in BCplus (i.e all the wrong things in combination, fat and sugar!)

Well done everyone who lost this week. I'm sticking with BC a bit longer before moving onto BC lite.

B: Coffee with cream, coyo
L: Tuna mayo with little gem lettuce, babybel, FF yog
D: Fish pie (without the pie bit so fish in a cheesy sauce) with asparagus
S: pork cracking

BTW you are all making me smile calling me Dr Grin will be funny for new people since I only had my Dr name for a day or two.

I did not record my starting weight as I was away but I was 161lb and I am now 159lbs. 2lbs down. I cannot seem to use the spreadsheet on my phone. V happy.

LexLoofah · 26/10/2015 20:33

Not weighed as still at my sisters

gcal my lovely sister made the cracker bread using seeds and psyllium husk, not sure where BC stands on that but seen a lot of low carb recipes using that. I have ordered the same book she has so will share recipe when I get it. In the meantime photo here, yes to butter, bluerrgh to blue cheese, was perfect for pate and v filling too

Week 3 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - Decision Time
LexLoofah · 26/10/2015 20:39

B baked mushrooms, fried egg, one cup of tea too many
L made the best of it at a BBQ ribs type place, had salmon, slalad and a bit of sweet potato with sour cream
D sausages, cauli mash. Buttery broccoli
A few licks of DDs ice cream - was an amazing range of ice creams, sorely tempted so a few licks rather than having a whole one was best outcome really

Billionnairewannabe · 26/10/2015 22:04

Day 15

B - coconut porridge, black coffee
L - tuna, egg, hm coleslaw, tomato. peppermint tea
D - carb free pizza (cauli base, tomato, aubergine, mushroom, cheese, pancetta) delicious....and it tasted like pizza! (I was sceptical!)

Just on my last 500ml water bottle of the day.

SayrraT · 27/10/2015 07:53

Sounds good Billionaire just want to point out (and only because lots of people confuse low carb and no carb) that your pizza was low carb, not carb free.

Cauliflower has 5g carb per 100g (I usually use a whole head in a cauli-pizza, not sure what that weighs though but more than 100g).

Are you enjoying the coconut porridge? I've not had any yet because I'm trying to stick with BC for another week or so.

Thanks lex looks good.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar I LOVE Gleneagles. As a rule the posher the restaurant the easier it is to low carb (I've kept LC at many a 2\3 - until the dessert course anyway). My BIL is doing a stage as a pastry chef at Fairlie ATM (jealous) Envy
I am not weighing ATM but sticking to BClite (having the odd 85% choc / glass of dry white plus missing meals). Congrats on losses everyone. Hope the DH is OK hunt? X

Billionnairewannabe · 27/10/2015 11:48

Thanks for the heads up about low carb Dr! Yes loving the coconut porridge. My 10yr old said to me last night "This low carb diet makes you cook more!"Blush I'm enjoying trying out the new recipes and so far not had any I don't like.

Just started the magnesium as the constipation at the moment is the only negative (although I must be doing it right as internet says it'svery common with LCHF). Are we allowed flax seeds on BClite as that can help apparently?

ApplySomePressure · 27/10/2015 12:08

Is it too late to join?

Wombatinabathhat · 27/10/2015 16:27

Welcome ApplyIt's never too late.

B:Ham and mayo
L: Chicken, aubergine and courgette curry
D: Braising steak with sprouts and cauliflower
S: Few spoons of ff yoghurt
Cup of tea

ApplySomePressure · 27/10/2015 16:45

Thanks wombat, starting tomorrow!

regenerationfez · 27/10/2015 17:08

Hi all, just checking in on this thread so I can find it againSmile

I'm finding being away and accession lc stuff while on the move difficult. Yesterday we had dinner in the pub. I had rotisserie chicken, with sweet corn fritters. I didn't eat the chips, and I chose a mushroom sauce but I think it was thickened with flour, not cream. I also had dessert Blush as there wasca lovely cheesecake on the menu, but I could only eat less than half a slice as I was so full.Today cafe for lunch. Nothing lc, so I had carrot soup with no bread. I had bacon and eggs for breakfast. snacks pork scratchings and some Pistachio's. Not holding out much bweight loss hope this week but I'll koko!

Wombatinabathhat · 27/10/2015 18:15

Apply I don't know if you are aware, but if you look on the spreadsheet {linked in the OP} there are tabs along the bottom with the rules, carb counts of veg and some useful info. There is also a questions thread but there's always advice to be had on this thread. Good luck

Billionnairewannabe · 27/10/2015 18:23

Day 16
No appetite so..
B/l - ff yoghurt black coffee
Tea - crayfish & avocado salad.
Feel so full that I have to wait for .. Raspberries & cream.

Still got about another 750ml water to go ...

CharlieSierra · 27/10/2015 20:07

B: Ff total with cream & cinnamon, coffee with cream
L: chicken, green salad, avocado, oil dressing
D: pork chop, buttered swede, leeks

Several cups of tea with almond milk, 1 marmite cheese snack

I'm struggling with the water but otherwise good. Despite being pretty bad over the past few months I seem to have slipped back into ketosis easily with no carb flu, so better than I deserve really.

Huntthepigsear · 27/10/2015 20:42

Thanks for all the best wishes for DH. He's home.Smile, although it's a bit like having a fourth child as he can't do anything! He's going to be in the leg brace for at least 2 months, maybe 3 and he can't drive in that time. So, I'm going to be a bit busy.
Yesterday was a difficult day because of getting him home and I was just stressed and tired, so food was hard. I had proper cravings for the first time, I think because I hadn't eaten properly. Managed to keep LC, but had too much cheese and had nuts again. Also didn't have enough veg and don't think I had enough water.
Never mind, I've put it behind me and am back on track today.
B - 2 sb eggs and 2 coffees with cream
L - hm mackerel pate (was absolutely lovely) with lettuce, cucumber, celery and olives
D - salmon with pesto and Parmesan crust with roasted courgette, leek, asparagus and mushrooms
Ive also made some Parmesan crisps - just grated parmesan on a baking sheet in little piles and baked for 5-10 minutes. Had half of one and it was nice and crispy. Won't eat too many at once as they are calorie laden.
Billionaire sorry, TMI here, but the magnesium tablets have worked a treat with me. Grin

LexLoofah · 27/10/2015 21:03

unplanned fasting day for me as DD sick in the night (in the bed of course) so no breakfast, lunch was sb eggs with butter, spinach with butter, cold sausages spread with butter & marmite, no dinner as drove back late so cup of tea and sq or dark choice before bed, start again tomorrow

CalmYoBadSelf · 28/10/2015 08:19

I have had lots of visitors, days out and meals out in the last week so not perfect but better than I could have been so that's enough for me Grin

Staying on BC as I think my carb tolerance is low and will have to see what my trainer says on Fri as to whether I have lost weight or not

ChesterDrawers · 28/10/2015 09:16

New lovely find - Tesco Finest Greek yogurt is only £1.75 for 500ml so cheaper than Total, the same carbs as Total (3.8g), more fat (9.9g compared to 5.something) and way nicer.

This week has been good, Back on three meals a day, albeit pretty small portions, but drinking too much wine and gin, that needs to stop.

This week has so far looked like this:

Monday
B: Eggs scrambled with butter and cream
L: Pork scratchings, little pot of M&S Greek salad
D: chicken in creamy mushroom and cheese sauce, courgetti

Tuesday
B: Eggs mashed with butter and cheese
L: At conference - four chicken thighs with lovely cripsy skin (marinated, but in what I am not sure), coleslaw, salad
D: Prawns in tomato, shallot and mushroom sauce, cauli rice, cheese

Today
B: FF yog, cream
L: Something eggy
D: No idea - going to shop later

Lost my trusty water bottle yesterday so need to make sure I drink. Am rubbish without it there to remind me!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 28/10/2015 15:12

B: 1 cup tea
L: 2 x rotisserie chicken thighs, 5 x cheese bits (ie, similar to BabyBels, in a bag from Tesco), chocolate CoYo. Blush

D: To be bought on they way home - probably steak, mmm.

I need more veg! Last night I had egg-fried cauli rice, which had heaps of veg and was delicious besides, though. I was struggling to remain strong in Tesco surrounded by all the biscuits and cake and stuff, but that was because I hadn't had any breakfast and I was starving.

LexLoofah · 28/10/2015 16:50

B - 2 streaky bacon, 2 fried eggs with bacon drippings poured over - yum! 2 cups of tea
L - cheese salad with oil dressing, felt a bit sick afterwards, think I had too much cheese, even that is very filling these days
D - will be salmon with hm pesto cream sauce and cabbage & leeks fried in butter

weight this morning as couldn't do it on Monday and down a lb to 130.2 so within striking distance of being in the 120's for the first time in goodness knows how long, high school probably

Wombatinabathhat · 28/10/2015 17:03

Same breakfast and lunch as yesterday and tomorrow
D: spicy pork loin with salad and mayo
S: Pork scratchings, babybel, 2 spoons greek yoghurt
