Pork Scratchings

I like pork scratchings as a snack sometimes if I am hungry after dinner or taking with me if I'm going somewhere with unknown food. I don't particularly like the ones with soggy bits so wondering if anyone can recommend non-soggy pork scratchings.

The best ones I have found are Golden Pork Crunch, they have a texture like quavers. They only seem to be sold in Asda and I don't live very close to an Asda.

I found some amazing ones in Waitrose - really puffy and crispy, but I haven't seen them for a while. I'm worried they've discontinued them.

Watching, in case anyone else has any suggestions.

There isn't a Waitrose anywhere near either, that the type I am after, puffy ones. I have some Pub Original just now and they are ok but very hard and the bigger ones have a soggy bit.

Ooh, I just googled the nice Waitrose ones, and you can get them via Amazon! They are called Awfully Posh.

The M&S ones are lush, and I second the recommendation for the awfully posh ones from waitrose.

They aren't as crunchy and puffy as the ones that you describe, and you do get the odd soft one. I find the flavour much nicer than the cheap ones, though.

You can buy pork rind very cheaply from a butcher - maybe have a go at doing your own?

Have you been to the butchers? I just picked up a lovely bag of pork crunch. All puffy and quavery. Really satisfied my crisp craving.

Yeah I do make my own as well but then I eat it too much. I prefer having a packet then I can control my portions better. I can't make puffy ones either, the stuff I make could break your teeth!

I only buy them now after finding a horrid hairy scratching in one of the other packs Shock

Morrisons do one that's a puffed snack, similar to quavers. But I don't recall the branding. Will have a look for you next time I'm in there.

The ones Morrisons do are are by The Real Pork Crackling Co.

They're called 'Golden Pork Crunch'.

They're not usually in the crisps/snacks section. They stock them in the beer aisle.

(I do like the Awfully Posh ones, they're very nice; Tyrrells are very good too, but they're both the traditional pork scratching with the soft fatty bit.)

Came on to recommend awfully posh ones. DH likes the spicy ones too, we have them in place of crisps and they hit the spot very nicely. They are gluten free too.

I've had the puffy ones (like quavers) but only found in independent newsagents, not supermarkets...

I had no idea that you could make pork scratchings in the microwave! I think I'll give that a go Mara thanks Smile

I get salt and vinegar ones and they're really quavery.

I buy the Awfully Posh Chilli ones from Amazon as they're cheaper than the plain flavour. I like them cos they don't contain any nasties. Some have dextrose, MSG, rusk etc. in them.

I get Pub Original Pork Crunch in the red packet from Tesco. I also like Hogbites in the blue packet (not the black one) as they're quite puffy too.
