Hello, waves

Introductions... I'm 33, have one 2 yo daughter and PCOS. Old hand at low carb (was a DANDR 2002 girl and lost loads of weight back in the day) found love, got fat happy, yoyo'd, couldn't get pregnant, went back on low carb, lost weight and got pregnant. Then had an awful time and long recovery excuses and as a result I'm now HUGE. I was pretty immobile for a long time post birth with PGP and back \ nerve damage. Still need surgery to correct birth trauma injuries but need weight off first. I went low carb before Xmas and lost a bit but then reverted to carbivore and gained it all back. Got back on the LCHF pony mid Jan and lost 1/2 stone (I need to lose another 4/5 I reckon) almost immediately (water) but NOTHING since. Been logging in MFP and working with a physio to increase my movement and cardio but lost not a sausage in 19 days of logging at at least 500cals under goal every day. (I know it's fat NOT calories but by my reckoning I should be losing from even a CICO perspective). No appetite, purple ketostix and breath like a bulldog would suggest ketosis has been achieved though. I am a JERF'er and stick to less than 30g carbs per day. My macros are 5/80/15.

Needing some help finding the spreadsheet (my brain is fried, in butter, natch!) never mind opening it and adding my name.

Thank you for reading.

The spread sheet is linked to in the top of the bootcamp threads in the op. It is often referred to as the spread sheet of wonderfulness. The holy grail is ketosis without a deep colour for Ketostixs, ie you need to drink loads of water to help lose the weight. BIWI and others will regularly remind us that if the level of ketones is too high in the body weight loss does not occur and for optimum amount of weight then the ketostix should be useless as you should be diluting them with the water to keep properly hydrated and all the body to function properly. Most of us have also found MFP to be useless as 1. it is not set up for low carb diets, and 2. a lot of the data stored in it is very variable and may not be accurate. Just some things to keep in mind.

Under 30gs carb sounds tough. Kudos to being so strict. But 'cuse my ignorance what is a JERF'er?

Oh and when you add your name, stick it at the bottom and our spread sheet fairy will fix it. She is a genius.

The rules of bootcamp are in one of the tabs.

Thanks,

It's tough but I don't lose weight over 30g (PCOS and IR) so a girls gotta do etc...I've been using MFP just as a logging tool to keep me honest really (so no 'if I didn't write it down it didn't happen moments) and have added or verified the carb counts of all the foods so I'm happy with it for that. I was able to set my goal macro to 5% carbs / 80% fat / 15% protein so I like the little pie chart as a snapshot of how I'm doing.

JERF is just eat real food. I've been off and on low carb for years and learned the hard way.... So I don't eat any processed or packaged foods (when on the WOE) with the exception of a high quality LC sausage or the odd sf jelly if things are dire and I prefer to use stevia or birch xylitol if I must use sweetners (but obv not on boot camp). I'm maybe not drinking enough. I normally drink zero carb diet drinks but I've hit them on the head recently and have probably not upped my water to compensate - got dodgy water works post birth trauma so physio weaned me off of my 4l water a day habit and it's tricky getting back up. Is the spreadsheet iPad acessible?

Some people find it ok, others struggle. It can be a bit hit and miss. As I am computer bound it has not been an issue for me. Do you want me just to add you on it for you?

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 14/02/2015 02:49

Actually done it anyway. Are you adding a starting weight? the spread sheet fairies will add numbers but you have to post it in lbs. There is a converter function on the spread sheet which is very handy as I work in kg.

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 14/02/2015 02:51

*will add numbers to the spreadsheet for you if in lbs.

Sometimes i wish MN had a post edit function. Blush

Thank you thank you.
Scarily my starting weight is 115kg.
Writing that down is painful. Xxxxx

Welcome, Gcalgske!

If you're a long term low carber then you'll know that CICO doesn't matter - especially when you have a lot to lose.

Definitely ditch the diet drinks! You will probably need to work your way up to the water levels if you have issues, but it's definitely worth it.

Gcalgske · 14/02/2015 23:45

I'm not sure that it doesn't matter, when in ketosis my appetite self limits to a low calorie intake (even though my good quality fats are high - 80% of food intake) I wouldn't count calories, it's more that I've noticed how low my calories are in logging my food more this time.
I'm really trying with the water but it's hard - I've very little pelvic floor control and sensation (until corrective surgery hopefully sorts it) and needing to wee all the time is a problem.
