I really needed to get back on it so started BC on Monday. I am doing a bit of BC light, having a bit of linseed bread and will prob have wine and maybe a low carb dessert on the two weekends.

So far no bad signs of carb flu which I was worried about as I have been dreadful the last few weeks and really suffered in the past.

Today's food plan is:

B: Greek yog, sploosh of cream, cinnamon, orange oil
L: scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, spinach, slice of linseed bread, lots of butter
D: home made donner kebab, tzatziki, salad, olive oil

Ujjayi - cheating is a difficult one. Generally speaking, once you are keto-adapted (i.e. you've switched your body from burning carbs to burning fat,) you should be alright with the odd cheat here and there. But in the first couple of weeks it's much harder. This is probably why the IPD says it takes you back to day 1. You need a good, strict couple of weeks to switch from carbs to fat.

ChesterDrawers · 22/09/2014 08:10

Well I caved too yesterday Ujjayi and I am really cross with myself.

I had prepared a lovely LC meal with crusty tiger bread and new pots for the carbos. Did really well, was very proud of myself then as soon as my in-laws left I caned three huge slices of bread with butter. I wasn't even hungry! And afterwards I felt terrible, bloated and uncomfortable.

So this morning, after gaining 1.5lb overnight, I had a chat with myself in the car on the way to work and have told myself I've either got to do this or not, no half measures is my new catchphrase.

So today's plan:

B: greek yog, cream, cinnamon, orange oil
L: Chicken wrapped in parma ham, home made coleslaw (with carrot so bit carby but...), salad, olive oil
D: Salmon fillet, courgette and leek fried in butter

Chester - there's a recipe for coleslaw on the ubercamp pages, which uses carrot, and is properly carb counted. To be honest, if you grated your carrot, the actual amount you will have used/eaten, in proportion to cabbage, will have been pretty small.

ChesterDrawers · 22/09/2014 09:36

Thanks BIWI, will check it out. I doubt it's mega carby but after my indiscretion yesterday I want to get back on it properly. It's made with Lidl Greek yog too as I don't like mayo and not the hugest portion in the world.

Am also starting early.

DH and I are competing... He is doing lots of exercise (triathlon stuff) and I am bootcamping, with some bodyweight exercises thrown in eventually.

He's goin daaaaahnn....

HRH008isback · 22/09/2014 11:57

Plan today is asp. Frittata, coffee w sploosh cream, beef n salad, fish n green veg.

No wine, no choc, no surrender.

ChesterDrawers · 22/09/2014 12:41

Ha ha, HRH I think that should be the motto of the bootcamp - no wine, no chocolate, no surrender!!!

Am working at home, and have retired to work in my bedroom away from the bloody kitchen!

HRH008isback · 22/09/2014 14:50

It is definitely my new mantra...
Repeat after me,
No wine
No chocolate
No surrender (screamed out, Braveheart fashion!)

HRH008isback · 22/09/2014 14:54

Btw, what's a BPC?

ChesterDrawers · 23/09/2014 08:25

Should also add No Chippy Tea to the chant Blush

Back on it today (just typed Bacon instead of Back on - ha ha).

BCP is bullet proof coffee. Basically coffee with butter and coconut oil in. If you whizz it up with a frother it goes slightly latte-esque if you've got a good imagination and is actually really nice and VERY filling cos of all the fat.

Well I'm definitely feeling slimmer. My tummy feels much less bloated, yay!

So today I'm going to have an asparagus fritter for breakfast

Tuna salad for lunch

Chicken curry with cauliflower rice

And NO WINE...etc!

HRH008isback · 23/09/2014 11:30

Thanks Chester

No wine
No chocolate
No chips
NO SURRENDER!!!!!!!

I'm starting boot camp early - well, kinda, I'm just seeing it as practise run for a week to identify any possible pitfalls before going on it 'proper', as I've never experiences this WOE before.

Well, started Monday so officially day two. Going ok so far, had massive cravings today at four-ish. I don't think I'm eating enough earlier on in the day - need to start thinking up some low carb breakfasts lunch and snacks. Tea should be easy - I've menu planned for the next couple of weeks and it should be quite easy to prepare low carb evening meals and bung a couple of potatoes on the side for DH.

I really haven't eaten enough this past two days; I think it's mostly thinking of bread and potato alternatives that I'm struggling with. Gonna head over to the recipe thread for some inspiration!

HRH008isback · 23/09/2014 20:15

Hello lowcarbers! Hope you found some good recipes clash
Successfully got through today... Just one hairy moment when i was stuck on a plane with only carbs for company.... Decided to go hungry and feel smug!
No
No
No
Nooooooo! (Can't be arsed with the extra typing... Though typing that out is rather self defeating....)

BIWI · 23/09/2014 20:19

Clash1001 - make sure you're eating enough fat, that will help to keep your hunger at bay! (and drink plenty of water ...)

ChesterDrawers · 24/09/2014 09:35

Eugghhh, sturggled to get back on it again yesterday - who would though a few slices of bread could derail me so badly. So today is another day and the plan is:

B: yog, cream
L: big fry up
D: Turkey burgers and guacamole off the recipe thread

Looking forward to start of BC proper as sure that will help me focus better.

Not much veg in that day, Chester ...

HRH008isback · 24/09/2014 21:50

Hey, how's it going today? all ok on the food front, but did have a glass of red wine and a slurp half glass of white... Blush it was really naice wine tho...

ChesterDrawers · 25/09/2014 09:33

Messed up AGAIN. Don't know what is wrong with me at the minute, I have completely derailed.

Trying again...

B: Scrambled eggs, butter
L: Tin of tuna, salad leaves, olive oil (in a rush this morning)
D: Cabbage and courgette carbonara

BIWI, there would have been mushrooms at lunch and salad/veg with tea had I not derailed and eaten pizza.

OP posts:
Scarletohello · 26/09/2014 08:40

Chester, why do you think you derailed and ate pizza? Were you hungry? If you're eating enough fat you shouldn't really get so hungry that you crave carbs?

I've been pretty strict since I started ( apart from the odd glass of wine ) as I REALLY want to lose the weight this time. I've got lots of things to snack on like cheese or nuts if I need it and I am planning all my meals. It's such a joy seeing the scales heading down rather than up!

Think about what your purpose is in doing this, how much better will you feel about yourself if you achieve this.

And finally, don't give up!

miffy49 · 26/09/2014 12:34

Its not always about hunger thought is it? I have never been hungry on LC. Quite to the contrary actually as, in the early days, I was often a little nauseous. Theres so much more to eating badly. I am affected mostly by tiredness. My brain doesn't seem to register it properly and interprets the need for sleep as the need for food! Theres also the habit effect. You eat something purely out of habit because its what you've always done under certain situations.

I'm sure things will be easier Chester when BC starts. The threads get busy and theres loads of support to cheer you on. Try and stick with as much as you want to eat provided its on the BC list. Tell yourself that if you can't fancy whats on the list you aren't actually hungry, you are merely 'fancying' and therefore its not worth eating. Smile

Scarletohello · 26/09/2014 17:49

So tonight I am making a Shepherd's pie using celeriac instead of potatoes. Just put it in the oven, hope it's nice...

Scarletohello · 26/09/2014 17:52

And actually the beauty of this diet is that if you are doing it right ( ie eating enough fat) you should NOT feel hungry.

ChesterDrawers · 27/09/2014 07:48

I think I'm rebelling before BC starts TBH. The pizza was kind of a 'I can't have this EVER AGAIN from Monday so I better have it now' kind of thinking.

I think it will be much easier once BC starts officially. We've got friends up this weekend so will just enjoy myself then throw myself into it properly come Monday.

God I am rubbish at this weightloss lark.
