I really needed to get back on it so started BC on Monday. I am doing a bit of BC light, having a bit of linseed bread and will prob have wine and maybe a low carb dessert on the two weekends.

So far no bad signs of carb flu which I was worried about as I have been dreadful the last few weeks and really suffered in the past.

Today's food plan is:

B: Greek yog, sploosh of cream, cinnamon, orange oil
L: scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, spinach, slice of linseed bread, lots of butter
D: home made donner kebab, tzatziki, salad, olive oil

Yes, me.

So far today:
B: BPC
L: probably egg mayo and oily salad
D: slow cooked chicken curry and cauli rice (if I get some chicken from the shops this morning)

Aiming to drink 2L of water too, this has not been happening lately. I have put 10lbs on since July - eek.

ChesterDrawers · 17/09/2014 10:01

I am taking heart from the fact that I am 6lb lighter than when I stared BC on Jan 1. However, as I have been dieting almost constantly since then, in one form or another,
that's not actually that great.

Had forgotten about BPC, love those! Will have to dig out my frother.

Just had egg mayo and it was delish! Drinking my water. Have a headache but think that is because I am not inhaling coffees as I have been doing recently. Just off to make this for dinner. Hope your day is going well.

miffy49 · 17/09/2014 13:35

I'm always on BC! Grin

ChesterDrawers · 17/09/2014 15:30

Oh that curry sounds good. Got curry on the menu for Friday so may have to steal the recipe.

Wish I could say the same Miffy. BC and all the stuff I've read around LC make so much sense but for some reason I have real trouble sticking with it. Any tips for keeping on the straight and narrow apart from following the rules of course?

Hi all. I'm on day 5 of BC. I'm generally doing ok. Altho I think about giving up & diving into the fruit bowl a zillion times a day Confused. I don't miss bread that much.

That curry looks great - is coconut milk ok in Phase 1?

miffy49 · 17/09/2014 18:55

I've been LC for a long time now Chester. I actually find it hard to add in carb now as I really don't care for a lot of the things that I used to eat. I used to eat things like pasta and potatoes out of habit but now I much prefer to have extra veg. I'm struggling to get off the rest of my weight but I will stick with my present weight rather than change my diet back to a carb based one as I feel so much better. I had one crazy carb fest a couple of Christmasses ago and was sooo ill for a few days after that so I learned my lesson!

I suppose its about what fits your lifestyle. I would never go back to carbs and have to give up my cheese and cream. Its such a joy not to be perpetually hungry!

ChesterDrawers · 18/09/2014 07:50

I really don't miss the carbs too much but I struggle eating out and at people's houses. I don't like to cause a scene or draw attention to my diet.

Sugar is the one I have a problem with and always cave to chocolate or biscuits. Oh, and wine Blush. I've never been a big fruit fan, apart from berries, so that's fine too.

And I love cheese, cream, butter too so no idea why I struggle so much.

I'm planning to be a lot more vigilant when I am craving this time, last time I threw the towel in way too easily and way too frequently.

Today's plan is:

B: Eggs scrambled with cream and butter
L: Left over donner kebab, tzatziki, salad, olive oil
D: Celeriac hash

OP posts:
Ujjayi · 18/09/2014 09:52

I can see biscuits being an issue too. I can't resist a couple with a big mug of coffee on a cosy autumn day.

Today is Day 6 & I woke up feeling energised & well. My tummy has settled down (I thought this diet made you go less to begin with? let's just say constipation would have been a welcome reprieve!). I'm down another lb Grin

B: 2 rashers bacon 2 tomatoes (all cooked in the oven)
L: Turkey escalope with salad & tzatsiki (thanks for the idea Smile)
D: Courgette & feta omelette

My skin looks smoother already - the cellulite on my upper arms has gone already...the thighs & ass are a longer term project!

What exercise are you doing? I walk the dog a couple of miles daily at moderate/brisk pace. I'm also doing pilates, aerobics (such a laugh - but harder work than I remember), a Jillian Michaels dvd (Killer Buns & Thighs or Burn Fat Boost Metabolism).

Hoping all these things in combo are actually going to give me some definition. I've always been slim but a bit saggy/flabby despite exercising regularly. I read that LC really helps with that because it's the sugar/carbs/alcohol that gives you cellulite.

ChesterDrawers · 18/09/2014 12:06

I do kettlebells twice a week, which is great for toning, an interval run and dog walking, although my pooch is getting a bit old now so these are getting shorter and a bit more sedate Sad

I've always been flabby even when I was 8st, and now at 11st, my body fat is dreadful. I'm hoping the LC and exercise will help.

Not feeling energised yet, but not too bad. On day 4 so hoping I've missed out on the joys of full-on carb flu. I felt so ill before I started, awful heartburn, bloated and sluggish, so I can definitely feel an improvement, even after a few days.

ChesterDrawers · 19/09/2014 14:45

Yesterday was a bit weird. Was fine all day then in the afternoon, I had such bad cravings. I didn't cave though but did make some fat bombs (ate two) which sorted me right out.

This morning AF showed so I think that was what was to blame, but it was the oddest feeling ever, so intense.

Anyway today...

B: Lidl Greek yog, cream, orang soil, cinnamon
L: eggs scrap bled with butter and cream, bacon and mushroom fried in butter
D: chicken curry, cauli rice

OP posts:
JimmyCorkhill · 19/09/2014 14:59

Are you having the chicken curry I linked to? It's really nice Smile

I am not organised. Keep forgetting to defrost things I have prepared. Had a BPC for lunch today as there was nothing else. Must get planning. I am not having any dairy apart from butter. I get even lazier with dairy and exist on Greek yog with cream (delish, never tire of it!).

On the plus side the my weight is going down.

readyforno2 · 19/09/2014 15:30

I've never really stopped since I joined in May. To be honest, I rarely eat breakfast. A bit concerned about strict bc as it's three meals a day.

Lacuna · 19/09/2014 15:50

Yes, I'm going to have to. Lost almost two stone a couple of years ago on BC but the past year has seen me fall off the wagon in a big way and most of it is back on. I feel lethargic, flabby and fed up. And the sugar highs and lows have been shocking, really awful.

Am really frustrated with myself because I know full well how good I feel and look when I'm low-carb, but I have just given in to the sugar monster completely Sad. So am going to use up all the crap in the house tonight and get going in the morning. Dp is supportive which is good, but he is still also a total sugar fiend...

Scarletohello · 19/09/2014 15:56

Me too!

Eggs for breakfast

Tuna and avocado salad for lunch

Tonight I'm going to make a goats cheese quiche with a nut base. Never made it before.

Just bought some cream too. Yum!

Scarletohello · 19/09/2014 15:58

The boot camp recipe thread is excellent, some great recipes and ideas to try.

Ujjayi · 19/09/2014 18:12

Chester I hear you on the cravings front. I'm due on and I am struggling today with the desire to stuff myself with cake & sweets. I'd also rather like a glass of prosecco too HmmConfused...& a packet of crisps!

I know that I will be gutted if I cave though. I've lost 4lbs this week despite pms bloating & swollen/heavy boobs (sorry if tmi). I've only got another 6lbs to go.

ChesterDrawers · 19/09/2014 18:13

I think dairy might be a problem for me, but TBH last time I did BC I cheated so much it's hard to say. I've not lost since I first weighed on Wednesday, but AF showed up so that could be to blame. I want to have a good stint to see if I lose with dairy as I do love it and would be so sad without.

Goats cheese quiche sounds lovely Scarlett. I've been through the recipe thread and got loads of ideas for the week.

Wasn't organised enough to do your curry Jimmy, though it's on my list. Just going to chuck some spices together and take it from there!

OP posts:
Ujjayi · 19/09/2014 20:57

Chester when you cheated did you start again? On IPD they say any cheating takes you back to day 1. (clearly trying to justify a minor cheat here Grin)

JimmyCorkhill · 19/09/2014 22:30

I found that when I 'cheated' (usually social obligations) I tended to get away with it. It was only when the cheating became regular (school summer hols - it was medicinal!) that weight went on.

ChesterDrawers · 20/09/2014 10:47

It always takes me a bit to get back on, I don't tend to have cheat meals I have cheat weeks months.

I've had a bit of wine last night but other than that have been strict and STILL no loss. Really starting to think dairy might be a problem for me Sad

With that in mind Grin, today's plan couldn't be more dairy orientated!

B: yogurt, cream, cinnamon, orange oil
L: crust less quiche
D: rump steak, celeriac dauphinoise, asparagus fried in butter

OP posts:
JimmyCorkhill · 20/09/2014 12:08

Can I move in with you? Your meals sound delicious Grin

I am only cutting dairy out to lose weight. I fully intend to eat it when I am at my target weight.

ChesterDrawers · 20/09/2014 16:55

Ha ha, you are more than welcome Jimmy, I'll set another place at tea time!

Maybe I will give up dairy for the first two weeks of BC. I just find it makes LCing so much more bearable and less diet-y. But I do feel it's not really helping me so maybe it's time to give it a go.

That said, after a week on BC light I feel SO much better. This time last week I had such bad indigestion and felt so dreadful that, even with no weightloss, I'm over the moon.

OP posts:
Ujjayi · 20/09/2014 18:13

Chester - I caved...we went out for a lovely walk in the countryside and it would have been rude not to have a slice of cake with our post-walk pot of tea. To be honest, as soon as I had finished it I felt quite sick. So it wasn't even worth it!

I figure that as I have been very strict for a week, together with lots of exercise, then a single slice of cake shouldn't entirely balls things up Hmm

Back to the diet now...Nigella's Lamb Maharaja curry for supper (minus the ground almonds) and roast cauliflower.

ChesterDrawers · 21/09/2014 07:27

Well, the scales have finally moved today, 1lb down. Not sure if that's dehydration from last night's wine though, but I'll take it!

Today's plan:

B: scrambled eggs with butter
L/D: chicken wrapped in Parma ham, coleslaw, salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, small slice of choc truffle torte (16g carbs)

Will have a snack this evening if i need it. Got inlaws visiting so I suspect wine will be required.
