I want to try Low Carbing...where/how do I start?

I have been recommended to join in the fun over on this board by a lovely S&B contributor. I have had a look around but it seems that I am stuck "between Bootcamps" as it were (one coming to an end and the other not starting until 29 Sept...is that right?)

How do I get started? Meal plans/basics of the approach etc? Do I need to wait until the next official bootcamp starts? Or is there something for me to do before then. I am rather desperate to start as soon as possible.

Apologies if the answer to my questions is glaringly obvious. I am struggling somewhat emotionally at the moment mainly due to sodding weight so please be kind :)

You can start as soon as you like!

Here's a spreadsheet froman earlier Bootcamp Look at the tabs at the bottom and you'll see the rules of Bootcamp listed.

As well as following those rules, the things that you shouldn't eat are:

  • pasta/noodles
  • rice
  • bread/wraps/pitta/bagels
  • biscuits/crackers
  • sugar/chocolate
  • potatoes (sweetcorn/beetroot/sweet potatoes aren't great either)
  • most fruits (berries are OK occasionally)

It's not easy. Carbs are very addictive so before you start a low carb diet I recommend a 3 day detox. Gives you good rigid plan for 3 days and will make appreciate a more flexible diet plan Grin

Brilliant! Thank you. I will be hitting the supermarket tomorrow with a far happier attitude than I anticipated...I've been dreading forcing myself to "diet" because I loathe being hungry but I am amazed at what you can eat using this approach. Plus, I have found that I struggle to achieve enough daily protein intake so LCing looks as though it will help me address that.

Gutted about beetroot - one of my favourite veggies. And no to sweet potatoes too? I thought they were recommended as an ideal alternative to regular potatoes? Or is that because of sugar content?
