Any veggie bootcampers out there?

I am veggie and doing bootcamp, was wondering if anyone out there was in the same boat?

Following a veggie low carb diet brings certain challenges so I thought we could have a thread of our own to share tips? Smile

Ehric. It depends. If Kitty is eating some low carb nuts (such as macadamias) it's fine. It's much more likely to be lack of water.

KittyB52 · 04/02/2015 14:23

It'll be the water then. I seem to forget to drink enough.

I eat a few macadamias or almonds as a snack occasionally, but they're not a daily thing.

Will make an effort to drink more water and see if that makes the difference. I'm guessing herbal teas or rooibos tea don't count towards the limit? Grin

Thanks.

Depends how you drink them I guess and who you listen to. I think if you drink them without any additives (milk etc) then they count. A tiny bit of rub or herbal stuff really shouldn't make much difference. Some people add cucumber to the water. It sounds gopping to me, but I have to admit I haven't tried it.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 04/02/2015 14:45

That's true, I could mainline nuts though so I'm probably imagining how many I would eat, I could easily do 100g of nuts in one go and that's 20g carbs with some nuts.
Water is the key! I drink a pint with breakfast, and take a 500ml bottle to work. I gulp it rather than sip and usually do 2l by lunch time. I prefer to drink less in the evening to minimise night time wees!

KittyB52 · 04/02/2015 14:56

Cucumber water doesn't sound great.

I have a mug of hot water with lemon first thing to help my digestive system Grin but then it's mostly mugs of tea (herbal and normal) through the day, with maybe a couple of glasses of water.

I can't give up my brews. Shock

2.5. Litres should be doable. I have a half litre water bottle on my desk - so it's two in the morning, three in the afternoon.

Hi Chipping - it went really well at EC - 22 eggs!! Of those, 17 were mature enough to use and 13 have fertilised Smile ET will probably be day 5, but might end up being day 3 if a couple are doing way better than the rest.

I've still got a bit of pain since then but nothing too bad, back Friday for a check in case I've developed OHSS, but don't think I have any symptoms so far. Trying to 'take it easy' as per their advice, but it's really hard when I'm used to going to the gym/ aerobics - I've been going to the gym and just walking instead.

I agree about the nuts, could eat tons! Not sure about the cucumber water though Hmm I like hot water and ginger and some herbal teas, although I tend to use more than one bag just to get some flavour.

Still not doing great on the LC'ing - just don't fancy cheese/ eggs etc - had an almond croissant at lunch as it was the only thing I could stomach Sad

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 00:04

Ehric. I love macadamias, which are only 5g per 100g. It's both good and bad that they're on a par with the price of gold! The almonds I buy are about 8g per100g I think.

Kitty if 2.5l is all you need to drink, do you actually have any weight to lose or has your body found it's 'perfect weight'?

Ruby. That's loads! Grin. Blimey. How many will you choose to have implanted?

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. Just mind two things, one is that you aren't eating loads of fat if you are also eating carbs and two you are not keeping putting your body through adapting back and forth. It's miserable. I'd decide to do it or not and eat accordingly. Be kind to yourself, you don't need added stress right now x

RubySlippers77 · 05/02/2015 08:20

Thanks Chipping - at the moment I'm just eating whatever I can face... Woke up in the night convinced I had OHSS - terrible stomach cramps, hot & sweaty, the lot. Eventually it eased off a bit and I went back to sleep - some cramps today but nothing like as bad. Hopefully the scan tomorrow morning will let us know what's happening!

KittyB52 · 05/02/2015 14:19

I am only short, so my current weight is about a stone over what I want to be. I got the weight off with weight watchers a year or two ago but it's crept back on again.

I am doing low carbing primarily for health reasons (according to my GP, it may help reduce allergy and asthma symptoms). Weight loss would be nice too though.

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 14:47

Ruby. You poor thing :(. How are you feeling now?

Kitty. It's brilliant that your doctor has recommended it, it's good to hear it getting more 'main stream'. If I were you I'd try eating the same but drinking at least 2.5l of water a day for 2 weeks. See what that does to your weight. Bit it hasn't changed look at what you are eating. Start with eliminating nuts for a couple of weeks, then dairy.

RubySlippers77 · 06/02/2015 10:58

Feeling a lot better thanks Chipping - the scan was fine, the doctor suggested that the stomach cramps might be due to my antibiotics instead. We're waiting for the blood test results now and hopefully will be good to go for egg transfer on Sunday Grin

Bizarrely I still can't face the things I was eating before, even grilled vegetables aren't appetising! I can still face cheese but probably on something bland like a jacket potato.

Hoping that I won't suddenly put on loads of weight now I'm having to do less exercise as well. How frustrating!

ChippingInGluggingOn · 06/02/2015 11:43

Ruby. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. I can't take most antibiotics, the last lot left me feeling like I was on a ship on the middle of the ocean and being kicked by a furious donkey at the same time.

Sunday Grin Grin

Just eat whatever you can face. Don't worry about the weight, there are more important things going on right now. Low carbing will be there when you can face the food.

RubySlippers77 · 08/02/2015 13:08

ET went well today - we had two put back in Grin I was quite emotional afterwards - not in pain, just emotional to think that we'd finally made it to this stage. OH took a photo of the 'kids' for us to look at, well, you can see the cells and not much else!

Having a rest now before we go for lunch, they've advised not too much walking so I'll have to take it easy.

For lunch I'm thinking Thai - lots of vegetables, some rice, and tofu for protein!

I'm with you on the antibiotics effects Chipping - the nurse reminded me again that they can cause bloatedness and sore breasts - don't I know it!!
