Maintaining weight & cheaters confessional

Thanks to BIWI's bootcamp I've lost loads of weight. I'm determined not to put it all back on. So I am now consciously trying to maintain my new weight.

I finished the last bootcamp on 150.8lb. My aim is to stay below 11 stone (154lb). Since bootcamp I have weighed between 149lb and 151.6lb. I think this roughly counts as maintaining!

My plan or experiment is to see whether basically eating bootcamp style, but with 3-4 off-piste moments per week (eg chocolate, toast, special treat meal etc) will do the trick of maintaining.

Post here to share your experience of maintaining the low carb way.

Also feel free to confess any cheating here, offload and wail in a safe space!!

Wonderful news that the Easter gain is gone Peony!

There is some sort of threshold where "eating treats mindfully" switches over into "face down in carbs". It happened to me over Easter too. We've just got to remember that carbs are sneaky addictive bastards and handle them with care (like an unexploded bomb).

I've just taken delivery of my new swimming costume. Its from Bravissimo so sized in bra sizes - this one is 30HH. As opposed to the 38KK swimming costume I've been wearing, hanging off me like a bin bag. Trying it on made me think, I really must must never put that weight back on again.

no one told me we were over here!!!

I'm here now though Grin

I've been trying to keep up with the new thread as I offered to maintain the new spreadsheet if MNHQ/tech couldn't do it. So this eveing job is get on with spreadsheet organising.

Anyway, I have a confession and it seems I am in the right place....celebrating friends viva success last night, nice LC meal.

1 passionfruit caipirinha
1 French martini
1 -5- watermelon martinis (sp?) surely martini is plural and martinus is singular?

So the drinks were not so LC but they were delicious! Anyway this is a WOE not a you can never drink again Smile

I am trying to be good and so far it is working but I'll definitely come in here and chat.

Crabby sorry you are not feeling great, hope you catch your elephant soon Flowers

Off to get on with spreadsheet but will chat properly later.

SayraT · 09/05/2014 17:42

Aww bollocks my 5 didn't work now BIWI will see that I had five and not one!!

PeonyStick · 09/05/2014 17:57

Yeh .... I tempted you over here !! Those martinis sound amazing -.......

Just need to sneak that trashy here too - not that she ever cheats, but just good for a chat !

Can I ask for my new name on the spreadsheet ( I think I am still Whoosy on the list !)

I have to say my first ever BpC was a success today - had one for lunch and was full for hours . I will be interested to see the scales on Monday ( sneaky peak was 4lb off)

SayraT · 09/05/2014 18:08

Shit peony I think you are, I'll change it now....I've posted a link on the main thread can someone try it out?!

PeonyStick · 09/05/2014 18:26

PeonyStick · 09/05/2014 18:27

EvaTheOptimist · 09/05/2014 21:57

Very heroic of you to be spreadsheet mistress!

Eva thank you for your kind and wise words. And congrats on that incredibly impressive swimming cossie size! Flowers

Peony how was the duck??

BIWI can you grant us absolution form our sins, as long as we don't admit them on the main thread? Grin

YY to face down in the carbs, that's exactly what I've been doing. Then I kept promising myself I'd stop, then thinking 'well I'd better cram in all my favourite carby treats then. Hmm i like the idea of a touch of carby wickedness at the weekends and low carb sainthood during the week. I just wonder if I can stick to that.

I've been eating sensibly this week and didn't drink, and I feel a glimmer of positivity today. I was aiming not to drink tonight but a BBQ tempted me into a couple of glasses of red. Much less than I've been drinking on a weekend night lately though. Bloody delicious BBQ of spatchcocked chicken cooked over rosemary so it has this amazing smoky charred rosemary flavour, with little tomatoes and asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Heaven!

A couple of days of lower carbing and I've noticed my appetite reduce - I'd got to the stage of carby twattishness of being constantly hungry and never quite satisfied. Had black farmer sausages and celeriac mash with roasted garlic and shallots last night. Fabulous. Ooh, I'm getting enthusiastic about my food again! Grin

Tomorrow doing seafood pasta but with courgetti instead of the linguine I'd much prefer. Tell me I should have courgetti and not linguine...

Sayra you're here! Grin Peony did you do a covert operation to get the regulars over here? Can you round up the rest? Grin I'm not suggesting that we desert the main thread or anything, just a place here to witter on to each other about more personal stuff whilst the thread is so fast moving.

Will do fishy update tomorrow and ask your advice Sayra.

Where's Trashy??

ForeskinHyena · 10/05/2014 00:50

I think I belong here. I'm doing really well with the main meals and resisting all sorts of naughtiness, but I have ordered a shed load of Atkins bars for snacks over the next few months. I know I should be eating something LC but somehow cheese and cucumber sticks don't go so well with a cup of tea and it stops me from snaffling proper cakes and chocolate.

I have been doin ma water drinking, sticking to veg on the list and not feeling hungry (or, touch wood, fluey) so I will stick with it, but with the caveat that I will have a bar and the odd bit of bacon in amongst all the goodness.

BIWI · 10/05/2014 07:17

I could do with a bit of your support on the main thread, to be honest. I think it's great that this thread exists, but I would be grateful if you could post to reinforce the 'don't cheat' mantra!

We haven't even finished a week of it, and I was close to chucking the towel in last night in exasperation. OK, bit of an over-reaction possibly, but it's so, so frustrating.

PeonyStick · 10/05/2014 07:42

Hearing you Biwi and agree - lot of hopelessness going on over there . I think we meant this to be our 'regulars' chat thread - so we can still chat about dogs / fish / jobs / car crashes ( crabby !) etc etc - rather than a 'cheat thread '
I will reinforce no cheating over there - I think perhaps some should just go off to the other LC threads as they definately don't seem to want to bootcamp even at all !
Meanwhile ... crabby .... I didn't do a covert operation no - I did try to mention 'Eva's thread but trashy didn't take the hint !

PeonyStick · 10/05/2014 07:43

I might do a pm ...!

BIWI · 10/05/2014 08:03

Thanks, Peony!

SayraT · 10/05/2014 08:52

BIWI please don't pack it in Sad You have helped me so much, I've been overweight all my life (not as much as now!) but nothing I did seemed to help. I've just looked in my old book from last year when I was dieting (using MFP and staying between 1000-1500 calories per day) and in 12 weeks I put on 1.4lbs Shock

Following your BC I have lost 20lbs in 10 weeks, then kept it off(ish) for 6 weeks and now only 6 days into BC I'm already down 3lbs Grin

The food I eat now is so much tastier, I don't miss sweet things and I can eat much more. I just put yesterday's food into MFP and it came back at 2833 calories Grin Proves that calories don't matter, I eat similarly everyday so probably 2000-3000 calories per day yet I lose weight Grin

BIWI I love you Flowers

BIWI · 10/05/2014 08:56
Grin

I'm not going to pack it in, honest! I was just a bit irritated/frustrated last night by the 'insouciance' of some posters.

SayraT · 10/05/2014 09:09

Good, I've just posted a long post on the main thread, my fingers got carried away Smile

PeonyStick · 10/05/2014 09:16

Hear hear ...... biwi
I have been miserably hungry and yet fat for 20 years ...... Now I am not hungry at all and I am much less fat ! Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

BIWI · 10/05/2014 10:24
Grin

OK. Enough of the love fest! But thanks for your support. It's also encouraged others to come out of the woodwork and point out that it's been off-putting for them too, so I'm glad about that.

CrabbyBlossomBottom · 10/05/2014 10:40

BIWI I have just appointed myself your enforcer. Grin It was quite therapeutic actually - I felt like a sergeant-major!

S'pose that means I've got to set a good example too then. Grin

BIWI · 10/05/2014 10:41
Grin

You were fab!

I've just bought myself new scales this morning, having lost all the 'feet' for my others, which means I can't use them on the carpet. And I've had a really full-on week with relatives from Oz staying, so personally I'm not ready to get back into Bootcamp until Monday. (I did weigh in last Monday, but I wasn't sure about the result, given that I had the scales balanced on a hardback book Grin)

So we'll start together on Monday, shall we?

PeonyStick · 10/05/2014 10:57

can I just say........ my breath is awesome Grin Grin
and the duck was totally shudderingly and pant wettingly gorgeous..... crabby.... do please write a book Thanks

Notsoskinnyminny · 10/05/2014 12:54

BIWI we'll all keep posting positive messages on the other thread. I was finding it hard to keep up with names and didn't want new BCers to think we were cliquey by namedropping the same names and having a general chat. You've done a fantastic job and despite the carby twatedness at the end of the Easter holiday I stuck to the WOE except for the chinese you told me not to have which did cock up my weightloss for the full 10 wks.

The only problem with having more carbs at the weekend is remembering not to use as much butter/cream etc in meals as thats how I sabbotaged myself when I LC'd years ago.

I must try the orgasmic duck but not on a school day after yesterday's prawns. I had a mum in reception at the end of the day and her DD (7) interrupted and said "Notso you always smell like flowers but you're stinky today" Grin

SayraT · 10/05/2014 12:56

I'm off to start a photos of food thread like we talked about at the end of last BC, I don't think that there is one yet is there?

So please take some photos and come and post them Smile
