Morning all!

I see several of you have already weighed in on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

As of today, though, we also have our bright, shiny, new Bootcamp section on Mumsnet, including our own Weight Tracker, which will only show your own weight/progress.

You can either use the Spreadsheet as we have done before, which everyone has access to and can see, or you can go here and enter your weight.

Obviously you can do both!

When you're in the new Bootcamp, if you click on the tab that says 'more info' that will take you to a section which has loads of information about low carbing, as well as Bootcamp Rules

Before we get going formally, I have to make an important disclaimer:

I am not a doctor, a medic, a scientist, a nutritionist or a dietician. I have no formal training in food, dieting or low carbing. The information that I provide here is based solely on my reading on the subject, as well as my own experience. If you have any kind of medical condition and/or you are taking any kind of ongoing medication, you should consult your GP before starting a low carb diet

That done, good luck everyone!

Oh, and prepare yourself for slow weight loss, Durham, as you a) don't have much weight that you want to lose b) are already well within the weigh range for your height

Thanks BIWI, I'm feeling a lot better now, busy cooking some bacon, eggs and onions for dinner.
I will try to eat more fat from now on and ignore my inner Demons!!

Suzymoo9 · 16/01/2014 17:13

Littlemiss I hope you feel better soon. Coffee with cream is a good treat.

Supersalstrawberry I get horrid PMT too and never weigh myself during that time of the month - at least you will feel better in a day or two. When I started doing this I had headaches and body aches and have found drinking more water helped.

I thought I had eaten loads today as I feel full but when I come to write it down it's not too much I think:
B 2LC sausages, poached egg, tinned tomatoes, parsley
L Salad, Boursin with celery, Onken ff yogurt with a dash of cream
S Beff & veg casserole with brussels sprouts
[grin[ to all - have a good evening!

Suzymoo9 · 16/01/2014 17:15

Shame I can't go back and edit
I mean "beef" and Grin
!

ChesterDrawers · 16/01/2014 17:23

Have just made oopsie rolls. Have seen the recipe in the past but never fancied them. Oh my god, is all.

I threw in about 2tbsp of Parmesan too and they are lovely. Just had one warm out of the oven with butter on and now desperately trying not to eat the others.

Can't wait for my bacon 'butty' tomorrow Grin

SteeleyeStan · 16/01/2014 17:28

It'll take time to get your head around fat being good, even when you know the theory. I think it's just so ground in, and the low fat message is everywhere from adverts to official advice to friends and family. Adopt a rebel attitude! Grin
(I even used to feel ashamed to buy butter and cream etc, thinking that everyone must be looking and judging Hmm )

Luckily the feeling of being ravenous went away right after lunch. Didn't even feel like eating the smoked salmon, and no need for snacks. Lunch was this quite plain salad with just olive oil for dressing.

Mlig · 16/01/2014 18:13

I'm just waiting for the energy spurt now, I'm soooo achey, and I've recently had to start walking 4 mikes a day, today nearly finished me off!

StuntNun · 16/01/2014 18:13

Hugh the only reason I kept those jeans for 12 years is because I had only just bought them when I found out I was pregnant and I was even tempted to take them back. They have never been worn, only tried on. At least they do up now even if it's a squeeze. Still one day...

Ruprekt · 16/01/2014 18:16

I bought some lovely (Waitrose reductions £1.39) pork shoulder steaks today.

I fancy a slow cook dish.....any ideas or recipes I could do?

ThanksThanksTIA

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/01/2014 18:23

you tend to hold about 24h worth of glycogen; once your glycogen stores are full (liver and muscles, mainly) and all the cells in the body have all the sugar they need, then any sugar left starts to be converted to fat

Thank you, Thumbwitch. My personal successes of the day were only being sick once, and only having to run out of the meeting room for the loo once. Go me. Am utterly pooped so going to bed in 37 minutes times I think...

Ruprekt · 16/01/2014 18:29

Lol Willie!

Waitrose paid me £1.60 last week to take home 4 buffalo mozzarella.....SmileSmile

Not paid for mushrooms, asparagus or ham for months!

Where is the pork stroganoff recipe?

fizzly · 16/01/2014 18:31

Hello everyone. Great support and reassurance as ever on here. It really helps.

So, it is DH's birthday today, so my major success to report is this: I made a cake with the kids today as they are of an age where cake is 'essential' when there is a birthday in the house (although me and Mr Fizzly are both LCing so won't be eating any). I cut the sugar in the recipe in half, used wholemeal flour and added red berries - in a hopeful effort to make a less naughty cake for the DCs to enjoy. I whipped up some double cream to serve it with. And then I watched the DCs LOVING the less naughty cake, while dipping it in the whipped cream. They've only ever had butter cream before - so this was a revelation in itself.

And I sat there and ate a small bowl full of whipped cream (as did DH). It was GORGEOUS. Very pleased with myself.

Still have hen do / afternoon tea to get through this weekend. Eek.

Otherwise today:

B: 2 eggs, butter
L: wasn't really very hungry so nibbled on some carrot batons, cucumber, cheese and ham.
Snack at DCs tea time: whipped cream Grin
Dinner will probably be left over chicken carbonara from last night with roast veg and salad.

Notsoskinnyminny · 16/01/2014 18:44

Carb flu has gone and I woke up feeling like a new woman, pity its still my nan's face in the mirror when did I get so old Grin

Another good day and I wasn't tempted when I walked into a meeting and there were plates of muffins and chocolates although I did bring some home for DH and DS.

Food today

B Sausage & egg muffins (getting a bit fed up with them but made a big batch and hate throwing food out)
L chicken and posh cauli cheese (thank you to whoever posted a link to their food blog - it is amazing)
D chicken in tarragon sauce (from IPD cookbook), broccoli and cabbage
S too busy even to nibble on the olives I took to work
W 2l, 3 mugs of hot water with a slice of lemon and 2 rooibos teas

Off to feed the animals and the washing machine - the men of the house think everything gets done by fairies Hmm

gussiegrips · 16/01/2014 18:50

I have just crushed a big bag of maltesers and fiddled around with chocolate for a cake for WeeGrip's birthday party.

I've had none of it. Not so much as a wee lick.

Weird. Am delighted with myself.

Can I use this as credit against the Big Stick Discipline I'll be needing shortly?

SayraT · 16/01/2014 19:10

Well done gussie that is good!

Today I managed to resist three gigantic toblerones that my boss brought in today. Everyone look at me in astonishment but I just drank my green tea and ignored the chocolate.

Today I was hungry after lunch, I don't think I had enough any fat with my lunch and I was really hungry by the time I got in from work.

B: tuna mayo and creamy coffee
L: salmon with broccoli and ff Greek yogurt
S: cucumber and carrot sticks (I know carrots aren't ideal but I need something at afternoon coffee)
D: fajita type chicken thing with little gen lettuce as the vehicle to transport it from plate to mouth!

mirpuppet · 16/01/2014 19:28

Very hungry. Still tired

B = duck egg; chestnut mushrooms sauteed in butter, 2 streaky bacon

L = 3 black farmer sausages; bag of waitrose specialty kale in butter

D= salmon, broccoli tips in butter.

S= Still hungry so made courgette in long strips w/ butter

3 Litres of water

ElBombero · 16/01/2014 19:29

Can I just ask about the long term and this diet. BIWI / Willie will you eat like this forever? What about Christmas / holidays? What about chocolate???!

Just thinking when I do loose the weight, will I be in a position to have fish and chips on a Friday night with my family? Or some ice cream or a shandy Wink on a hot day in summer?? Or will it be every time I do this I'm knocked out of ketosis and have to work to get back in it??

googoogoggles · 16/01/2014 19:39

chester you have inspired me to try making those oopsie rolls this weekend – haven't had them yet but like the sound of a bacon roll!
Today was good I think – though I ate a lot this evening. Fuggy headed though, particularly this afternoon.
B Coffee with cream

L Out with work - chose chicken cooked in oil/paprika (dry though, no sauce) with salad from buffet –went for broccoli salad and cauli salad so should be low carb.
S 3-4 olives
D meatballs (okay quite a few) with bit of tomato sauce and spinach and courgette
plus decaff coffee with cream for 'dessert'
I am so, so full
Even so, feel I want small piece of dark chocolate – obviously still not over my carb cravings – so am glad I don't have any in the house to tempt me. Going to make a jasmine tea to distract myself
Keep on everyone. Four days almost done.
Remember to plan something lovely to eat over the weekend.
Tomorrow eve, we're having steak with garlic butter and salad.

LucyVFood · 16/01/2014 19:39

I have a stinking cold and have been eating too many eggs and too much mayo :(

Loving everyone's food pics though!
