Morning all!

I see several of you have already weighed in on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

As of today, though, we also have our bright, shiny, new Bootcamp section on Mumsnet, including our own Weight Tracker, which will only show your own weight/progress.

You can either use the Spreadsheet as we have done before, which everyone has access to and can see, or you can go here and enter your weight.

Obviously you can do both!

When you're in the new Bootcamp, if you click on the tab that says 'more info' that will take you to a section which has loads of information about low carbing, as well as Bootcamp Rules

Before we get going formally, I have to make an important disclaimer:

I am not a doctor, a medic, a scientist, a nutritionist or a dietician. I have no formal training in food, dieting or low carbing. The information that I provide here is based solely on my reading on the subject, as well as my own experience. If you have any kind of medical condition and/or you are taking any kind of ongoing medication, you should consult your GP before starting a low carb diet

That done, good luck everyone!

Yes BIWI, lots of salad and veg, mainly broccolli, cauliflower, swede and green beans. I have already had 3l of water and 3 cups of peppermint tea so far. I really am missing fruit, as it keeps me regular.

LauraBridges · 15/01/2014 17:05

Yes, if I lose a pound a week I will be very pleased. In fact it never really helps me to hear about all these people who lose pounds and pounds over a day or two as for most people that is just not possible. Losing a pound a week is not unusual for lots of us.

I am glad to hear that doctors are starting to realise high good fats are good including for children. it will take a long time for everyone to realise this.

LauraBridges · 15/01/2014 17:08

(helium, it must be annoying but just grin and bear it. I suppose if it's a free source of new clothes for your daughter and an extra person in her life who may be okay long term it may work out okay. I am divorced but it was my choice so I would never have any problems with anyone else he is with but that's a very different situation and he barely sees the children so we have never had any kind of tug of love situation which I suppose at least is pretty simple. I know I have them 365 nights a year every year).

CrabbyWinterBottom · 15/01/2014 17:17

Eyes front Sarah! Grin

PseudoBadger · 15/01/2014 17:33

Can anyone think of a nice/indulgent way to cook cod and chorizo tonight? I was going to do cod wrapped in prosciutto but I don't feel like ham. I have shallots, garlic etc

Plonkysaurus · 15/01/2014 17:36

Helium that sucks. I'd normally offer cake in these circumstances, but how about a drumstick?

Mlig your weightloss is superb.

Kitchen Fairy hooray for your dr! Fantastic for your soon too.

Crabby yes I know, I shouldn't let myself get that hungry. But, and this is a big but, I might be losing motivation.

Yesterday I had all the right food, felt great, got lots of work done etc. Then had to fetch DS from nursery as he was poorly, and my day was kind of thrown off. I yearned for nuts. So I ate some cheese and decided to go for a pre-dinner swim. When I got home we cooked dinner together (rarity) and DP took control of the sweet potatoes. And they really were irresistible.

SO I know Bootcamp isn't really meant to be sustainable - there's far too much deprivation for my liking (not a SINGLE BERRY!) and I really have to constantly give myself a Talking To. I've been on this WOE for 10 days and generally feel great on it, more energy, better sleep etc, but my motivation is on the floor. I just want to go to Bootcamp Light really.

Oh and I'm spotting in the middle of my cycle Hmm

giraffeseatpineapples · 15/01/2014 17:36

blizy magnesium supplement can help with constipation, also I find sugar free peanut butter helps but thats not allowed yet.

I am getting into the low carb a bit more now I have some actual food in the house. Still not motivated with veg yet so really need to work harder on that.

Well done everyone loosing and the weeks not over yet - plenty time for fat burning to kick in!

halfthesize · 15/01/2014 17:43

Thanks for Hellium thats totally shite Sad

Notsoskinnyminny · 15/01/2014 17:50

Urghhhh still feel lousy. Went to bed at 6 last night but woke at 9 dying for a wee so got up and had something to eat before going back to bed and sleeping until 7.30. I'm usually out of the house by 7.45 to drop DS at the station otherwise he has a 40 min walk who's idea was it to move to the sticks so threw some clothes on, dropped him at the station and went to work. I'd prepared breakfast and lunch when I got up last night so forced some muffins down and spent the morning feeling sorry for myself. Had lunch and picked up a bit but started flagging again by 4.30 so going to have a lie down before dinner.

Helium if its any consolation I'm not the OW but teenage SC treat me like I was and hardly ever see DH as a result. I feel sorry for him but my DC are the same with their father, kids always come back to their mum and no matter how hard it is they do appreciate what we do although I would like a night off for good behaviour Wink

Lighthousekeeping · 15/01/2014 17:52

Last night tonight. I feel great. The bloating goes straight away. I'm going to a cheese and wine party tomorrow. Very 1970's. I'm terrified tbh. I like my wine. Especially on a night off.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/01/2014 18:03

Helium. Hugs lovely.

Anyone else find this hard with family meals? Especially those with older children? When folk list what they are eating, is that the whole family or just them? Or do you just add carbs on?

Tonight am making toad in the hole etc for everyone but obviously not for me. Gets tricky. Have found some low carb sossiges. 2.6 for two! Woo hooo. But pleasing everyone. Arrrggghhhh

Possibly should post this in Qs. Soz.

CointreauVersial · 15/01/2014 18:16

Pistey, I just make sure that the main item in the meal suits us all, then add accompaniments to suit. So the DCs get pasta where we get courgette ribbons, rice versus cauliflower rice, chips versus salad etc.

CointreauVersial · 15/01/2014 18:16

So I wouldn't be making Toad in the Hole!

mirpuppet · 15/01/2014 18:17

Best thing about bootcamp -- is how many meals I've been making from scratch.

Worse -- constipation.

My child is loving bootcamp all the meat with fats (instead of pasta). I make him a side of potatoes as I've been having mushrooms & brussel sprouts which are not his favourites.

SteeleyeStan · 15/01/2014 18:29

Thanks Helium - what a crappy day; it sounds very difficult.

I seem to have extra energy going around. I've been taking PMS out on the house - it's clean! (Other than that a useless day of too much computer-staring) Actually feeling oddly twitchy and nervous. Must be withdrawals from chocolate and yoghurt. Hmm

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 15/01/2014 19:02

Pistey

My 3yo and 1.8 yo are not loving this at all! They don't really eat meat unless it's minced and my eldest won't eat anything mashed after a bout of D and V. I end up cooking everything in batches and on a day that I cook for DH and me theirs is out of the freezer and vice versa.

My biggest success has been celeriac boulangere which the littlest devoured. The eldest put some in his mouth Hmm

heliumheart · 15/01/2014 19:11

I'll be back later for a proper catch up but I can't believe how 'thick' my head feels with today's upset. I feel like I can hardly see through the fog. Thank you everyone for the Flowers, of course they brought on more tears but better out than in etc etc. I am ashamed to say that I shared some of my upset with my children and they are already repeating some of it back to me so I need to try and unpick that particular bit of bad parenting.

Anyway. The good news is that I have eaten well, I drank loads of water, and although a tiny thought entered my head regarding my proximity to a shop selling wine at about 6pm, that thought went no further. I think i'm going to get an early night.

B - creamy coffees, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, squeeze of lemon
L - salad nicoise with avocado
D - salmon fillets with broccoli and leftover puttanesca sauce

Tomorrow I'm roasting a chicken. And tomorrow I'm going to have a much better day. Back later.

ChesterDrawers · 15/01/2014 19:20

Bless my lovely DH. I've got period pains and am not in the mood to cook so he offered to go to the chippy, our usual default tea when I can't be arsed.

Before BIWI gets her stick out, I told him I didn't want to mess up my diet so he's just whipped me up poached eggs, bacon and mushrooms. Now I am on the sofa under a blanket with my water bottle Smile

gussiegrips · 15/01/2014 19:24

I've figured out how this works...

I'm drinking so much blinking water that I'm spending half the day on the loo.

Even though I'm quite the heffalump, I have never eaten anything on the toilet.

Ergo, I'm losing weight.

Genius.

Dont do it Buffy. How long have you been on BC? Even if it's only a few days, a little bit of choc will undo all the positive work you've done already.

Have an LC snack, cheese, yogurt, anything, just don't give in. And drink lots if water.

You can do this, just think how proud you'll feel when you overcome it (see my post above).

NellVarnish · 15/01/2014 19:31

I swear to God I've never wee-ed as much as this in my entire life. In car (not driving), squirming around in my seat, DYING to get home for yet another wee. Think heated car seat not helping. Grin

I take it this is a good sign?!

Sorry you've had such a horrid time Helium :(

Methe · 15/01/2014 19:38

Can I ask those of you using MFP how many carbs are you eating daily?
