How/Where can I find out how much a single mum/dad with 3 children is entitled to on benefits?

I am asking on behalf of my friend, and not sure if I should have put it in 'Lone Parent's' or another topic but figured someone would know where I can find out?

Could also do with not just figures, but what other things they would likely to be entitled to, you know like how much housing benefit, if there would be help with council tax and/or anything else. Free school dinners, any types of grants etc. that she might be entitled to?

TIA

entitledto.com (or co.uk) will tell you a lot.

Housing benefit varies depending on the area - there is a site which calculates it but I can't remember what

Full council tax benefit should apply (assuming they are not working) - so no CT to pay.

Free school dinners, uniform grants, access to activities (can be used to pay for things like swimming lessons) should all be available if they are not working as they will be eligible for lone parent income support.

Children under 5(?) and milk/fruit vouchers are available.

direct gov has a questionnaire which generates a list of all benefits you're entitled to

Ah, thanks, will take a look at that website

Yes the children are 9, 4 and 18 months.

Thanks again, much appreciated

Hi, I am a single mum of 3. I don't mind telling you what I get.

Child benefit £47.10 per week
Child tax credit £139 per week
Income support £130 per fortnight

I get all of my rent and council tax paid.

Oh and I get £5 a week (between 3 children) from xp lol.

She needs to book and appointment at her local jobcentre plus with the lone parent advisor. look up the general no. on internet.

Whilst booking the app she'll have to go through a telephone questionairre and then she;ll go in and fill out the forms, her claim will be processed and go straight into her bank account.

She'll then get income support, child tax credit and\or working tax credit if she is working. Obviously changeable for her working status/earnings.

The housing benefit is done through the local council so look up her local area - all easily found on internet.

It's worth finding out about because she could be get lots of help.

Also she can get help with childcare from jobcentre plus.
