Hi,
Was wondering if anyone could recommend a good online dating site. A friend suggested 'my single friend' but am unsure as am new to the whole online dating malarky. (I'm scared to death! And skint so don't want to waste my money!)
Any help would be so gratefully received.
Thank you.

I have tried most of them over the three years I've been single and TBH they're all pretty much the same. Having a friend do a review of you sounded like a good idea to me when I first joined up, but still recieved the same amount and type of emails I recieve on POF. Waste of pennies IMO

Met my husband on dating direct (6years ago when internet dating was not so common). Friends have done it since, also married and they met on match. My single best friend has also been used but maybe not so many users so not as many men to choose from.
My advice would be to try and enjoy every date but not worry too much about a relationship in the beginning and just see what happens.
Speed dating has also been successful but the wine tasting/bowling rather than 3 minutes of where are you from? what do you do? as these are done in groups of about 6 and 3 men bring different wine.
I would have a look at a few sites, you can register free usually and look. When you see one you like then pay to contact people.

Thanks for your replies.
Just thought I would give the whole online dating thing a try as the chances of me meeting a bloke on a night out are slim!
I'm not looking for anything heavy but some male company and a night out sounds good!
Think I might give my single friend a go.
londonmackem, thanks for your inspiring story, there's hope for me yet then!

There are 'cashback' websites that give you quite a bit of money back if you sign up for match.com through them.
'Quidco' gives you back £45 if you sign up for a 6 month subscription with match.com.It gives money back for other dating websites as well.
Theres another cashback website called topcashback that gives money back for signing up to match affinity.
Good Luck with your search!

I was online dating a ways back too.

I met an exbf (we went out for 3 years, lived together but ended up parting as friends) on ivory towers about 9 years ago when the site was only just started. After that, he met his now wife on match.com.

I met my own husband of 4 years (and some nice people that I'm still in touch with) on OKcupid. I have to say that this site is generally a lot more childish though. Also, all of these sites may have a different feel now as I'm going on a few years old information!
