alcoholic ex - contact issue

Hello,
(Anyone else self represented for this? Would feel fine except am afraid that my ex has completely lost the plot!) He was caught drunk in charge of the children last year - has only had supervised access since. I DO NOT trust him to look after them at all now. He admitted to other occasions and that he's an alcoholic. Found out he uses drugs too. Surely a strand test, which was what the judge suggested last time, is not reliable? A friend went to court in similar circs and she thought the s.test could have been a hair from he exs dad! Can I insist on a liver function or blood test?

i know that a hair strand test will have to be collected by a registered gp (the hair that is!) and if the person taking the test turns up bald the gp might take body hair. the strand test is not so good for showing up alcohol abuse, so on the grounds that he has abused alcohol whilst the dc's were in his care before, insist on the liver function test. good luck!

hi, thanks for that, useful... doubt ex would turn up bald though as he isn't losing hair much yet.! It's interesting you confirm that strand tests aren't reliable for alcohol abuse. Others have said this and yet the judge seemed unaware and happy to suggest one as evidence.
