Kicking self for trying online dating again

I've been on my own for nearly six years now, and during that time have tried a few dating sites. Met a few nice men but it has always ultimately ended badly. After the last time I vowed to myself I wouldn't try it again...but...does anyone else find this...when you're in on your own after the DC's are settled in bed, you end up on the net and invariably get bombarded with adverts for dating sites. Anyway I succumbed and signed up for one (it's always free to sign up isn't it!) then I get messages which you have to pay to read...does anyone else feel like this is such a waste of time? but why do I never learn!!

Very familiar - I keep signing up for free sites then pulling my profile in a weird panic! I get freaked out by these sites but I'm not sure how else to meet someone. I'm hopeless at being single.

There are some sites where you don't have to pay to read messages - Plenty of Fish, Girls Date for Free, etc.

Plenty of Fish is good if you're prepared to sift through the dross! Have also panicked and keep pulling my profile though, although it has netted me 3 high calibre dates so far..

Why dont you read a book ? waisting your time on internet is not good.

Thanks Ryma. Very insightful.

We all do it and I'm about to take my profile off PoF because I've got 3 guys talking to me that I want to get rid of and I don't know how to tell them!

I like waisting (sic) time on the internet as long as it doesn't take over. And at least you've met guys OP even if it didn't lead to anything. I have too. Just keep your head screwed on and who knows, that diamond in the rough might be out there somewhere...
