Have just had a letter from the jobcentre saying I have to attend this presentation.

Anyone else been to one ??

Funny how I have to attend these things, but xp, who is on jobseekers with no intention of working again, doesn't.

Never heard of it! How old is your youngest?

MrsMorgan · 21/01/2010 14:07

He is 7, so I am due to move to jsa in Oct, which is fine as I am looking for work anyway.

thats what i was thinking, that it would be due to switching to a different benefit. looking for work also, but there is very little. am looking into voluntary work for a bit, just to see if i can still be me!

The O&C event will be a group session with maybe 10 -15 LPs. They will give you info on the impending benefit changes and what support is available. There may also be some information from local employers, childcare providers etc. There should be an opportunity for you to see a LP adviser 1-2-1 afterwards.

It's nothing to worry about and if you REALLY don't want to go it's not mandatory either. I really would recommend going though - there's a huge amount of information that you're given so it's well worth it.

I will go, but I really don't see the point tbh.

I know all about the benefit changes, and I already see my lone parent advisor on a 1-1 basis every 3 mths.

Not really sure of the point of the local employer either, unless they are planning to offer everyone there a job
