Fallen pregnant while on IS

Can anyone help me?

I have stupidly fallen pregnant while i receive IS and HB. I already have one child hence my being unable to work currently. Another thing i'm ashamed of

Where do i stand? The dss are sure to think i am living as a couple which i'm not.

Do i have to explain in detail what happened, i am cringing at the thought of it, i'll feel so mortified and shameful

hello Nikki8484!

i am currently on Is and HB after i graduated and am currently 24 weeks pregnant with my 2nd.
you just have to uinform them when baby is born. some people will make assumtions, but hey such is life. dont worry and congratulations! when are you due?

Agree with jsutabout.

It happened to me. No-one was suspicious - it happens! I think now the rules have changed and you aren't required to claim child maintenance if you are on IS, so I don't think thye will need the father's details.

Hi, Its happened to me too. And Im really worried. My ex & I had a moment of madness (cringe) and the result is that I am now 20 weeks pregnant. We already have one daughter together who is 6 but we have been apart & living seperatly for over 2 years. I am worried to put his name on the birth certificate as I know how it can look etc & I dont want to shoot myself in the foot with IS & HB. Any advice?! xx

Even if they thought you were lying they wont be able to prove it.

They sometimes send out people to watch dont they when they suspect people of living with someone but claiming single - even if they did that they would just prove you are telling the truth. Nothing to worry about

TBH proving cohabitation where there is none is extremely difficult, actually proving it when there is very difficult too.
