HI, I am a single parent to my 13 month old boy after my husband left me while I was pregnant. I would like a book on single parenting eg. how to get the most from it Can anyone recommend one?
Thanks Jess

was a single parent (and still am) from when boys were 15months and 5 years old.
My advice....just do your best, take each day as it comes and dont try and be supermum, although we have to be mum and dad to them. although it was hard work ,i have loved every minute of it...My ex can stay with his girlfriend..i have had my boys and wouldnt change a thing. You learn as you go along, you dont need a book. just do whats natural.

Search Kate and Emily, I have their book, it's quite useful.

It's not a book on single parenting, but this is a nice story with a single parent in. I just don't read the last page when the mum brings a new BF home.

I only recommended it as saw it on another thread. Is it very americanized?

cestlavielife · 11/01/2010 14:55

sorry - i should have said - i have not read it - but from the description of having quotations and poetry and being a life coaching guide to happiness - it does not sound like a very practical guide to single parenting to me - however it may be very good. and i may be missing the point.

dont take my word for it - if the description sounds good to you then go for it

Kate and Emily's Guide to Single Parenting (Paperback)
by Kate Ford (Author), Emily Abbott (Author)
is on amazon - from the info and reviews it sounds a different style to the how to be happy one.

go with what style works for you.

Hi all,

Orit here

Just to let you know, I am British and haven't Americanised my book at all. I wrote what I would have liked to read when I found myself on my own with a newborn, and I have tried to provide comfort, support and a little guidance to mums in similar situations.

Wishing you all the best,
Orit
