Please help as I am worried sick, I have had a letter from the Jobcentre saying a Compliance officer will be visiting my home as a question has arison regarding my claim. I am a single mum, living alone, do not work. Am I in trouble? Or is this a routine thing now. Has anybody else has this and what happened?
Thankyou

Entirely routine.

When I was on benefits I had this twice. The first time a woman came round and went through a new form with me and I had to sign a statement to say I lived alone, wasn't working and nothing in my situation had changed.

The second time a woman came round and we didn't even go through the form we just did the statement and that was it.

They will need to see your bank statements and some ID. As long as you're legitimately claiming then you've nothing to worry about.

The letter is worded that way to scare people into thinking they have been caught out so that those that are claiming when they shouldn't be own up.

Thankyou that has really stopped me worrying. It's nearly 2 weeks til the visit!
I had a baby 4 months ago so it has just occurred to me they may just be checking am not living with the father (which I am not)
