any single parents been abroad on their own with little ones?

I have a 1 yr old and a 2yr old and need a holiday. Was hoping to go next summer.... has anyone else done this with such small children, am i going to be bored on my own?

My friend always goes abroad with her 3 dc has done since the last baby was about 5 months old.

Not yet but planning to go to legoland in England next year when they'll be 8 and 5. which is abroad for me.

I took my 3 to the UK alone for 4 weeks when we were living in the US. They were 9, 8 and 5. It was hard. They fought on the 8 hour flight for the entire way. I nearly heaved them out the emergency exit!
Then number 3 attacked number 2 while we were camping and number 2 had to lock himself into the car.
sigh.

Took 12-month-old twins to Australia by myself. TBH was a helluva lot easier than I thought. Most people thought I was so mad 'brave' to do it that they bent over backwards to help.

Good planning is the key. If you are flying, make sure you explain your circumstances (book over the telephone, not online, even if you find the deal online first) so that they can do their best to seat you appropriately. With 2 under 3, ideally they'd seat you behind a bulkhead to give you a bit more room.

What kind of person are you? Are you very sociable? If you're looking for a holiday to unwind, you won't get lonely. You'll fill your days up doing things with the kids and then be really appreciative of a quiet evening in your room/whatever on your own. If you prefer to mingle though, try booking a place that specialises in accommodating families or even try one of the single parent holiday companies.

"oh yes, please help.. dont want to hold everyone back and delay plane as it takes me so long on my own"

I have flown on my own and I have to sya I had some lovely people help with sleeping DS in puschair. The covered arms out to the plane were out of action and we had to walk a convoluted way down several sets of stairs that are not usually use by passengers. There was sign saying if you needed help to ask the people on the gate but I just got blank looks. A fellow passenger helped me down the stairs and took DS 's bag up to his seat. The couple were sitting behind me and came and told me they would help me off as well but DS was awake by then and no puschair to deal with while ds sleeping lol

Several people did offer help when they saw the stairs so there are good people out there

I've taken my dcs here on my own for the past 2 years. It's a very easy place for going it alone! Everything is geared up for the kids and as yu sit outside your mobiles youb get to know all your neighbours as well if you want to! Very sociable and the kids love the pools and beach (and the cars, bumper boats etc etc!)

I have been away on my own when dd just a baby. Went twice and both times were lovely and people really friendly. Felt a bit sad in the evenings sitting in room reading, but the days more than made up for it.
Both times went with Sovereign - they're rather pricey, but they pick you up at airport and give you a rep's mobile number which made me feel better. They had child discos etc which would be good for your dcs. However daunting it feels, it's worth going and makes you feel better about yourself.
