Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 09:41

ooh lou
itm nice to see that things are working out for you both, see that frd sub wasn't wasted was it?!
when are you next seeing him?

inthemistsoftime · 03/07/2009 10:11

he he, frd!!!!!!!

he was the only one I did meet off there!

he is away this weekend racing so won't see him until prob wed, but am free the weekend after. We both have busy lives as usual, my running, his cycling etc and I haven't introduced the dcs to him yet!

I am in a pickle as to when and how to make the introduction, I want to make absolutely sure that he is going to be around for a while, as I am a bit precious over the dcs.

Am thinking of taking him to france with me on my next visit, as I have to go to the dentist over there. He has met a lot of my friends and family and always is well behaved around them!

I am always reading the threads on introducing dcs to new partners. lol

Am I too cautious?

lou33 · 03/07/2009 10:15

am pleased for you itm

right i am off to meet mandolin man!

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 10:35

yeah so those pennies weren't wasted were they?
the dc question again
well you know how horribly stressed out i've become over this
does exh know your seeing him?
what are marathonman's thoughts about meeting them?
tbh i don't think any of us want our dc to meet a succession of blokes
but as lou and ninah have told me i can't go thru life wondering what if?
neither of us can guarantee that our respective relationships will work out/last can we?
but based on what i know so far i would be quite happy to allow actionman into my dcs lives as he's a good bloke and a def.positive male role model for my dss
i haven't told my exh about him as atm i don't think that it is any of his concern what i do in my free time
he'll be introduced to the dcs as my friend and we'll take it from there
am still expecting grief from ex tho

inthemistsoftime · 03/07/2009 10:47

enjoy yourself lou, I know you will

it may be a little easier for me from my ex as he has already introduced them to her! boy was I mad

so he has basically no come back as to when, or how I do it, he doesn't know that I have a boy friend either as some one on here has said, knowledge is power.

marathon man has a grandson the same age as my dc and a smaller one, so he is really comfortable around kids and says that its up to me to feel comfortable about it, he also knows that no other man has met my dcs so tis an important step in our relationship!

how long have you been seeing your new man asbm?

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 11:02

yes your ex doesn't have the right to criticise here
mine always finds something
fwiw actionman has said that if ex gets arsey he'll be having words
but i'm hoping it won't come to that
still at least he's aware that it won't be easy!
have been seeing him for a month now
the dcs will meet him out at a local event so it should be nice and relaxed

inthemistsoftime · 03/07/2009 11:19

ah, so it is already planned then?

oh deary me, I've been in contact with Marathon Man since Feb!!!!!

Ok, I am gonna have to thinking about it seriously!

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 11:36

blimey is it really feb?!
weren't you seeing bob back then?
yes it is planned we discussed it all last weekend
perhaps some kind of sporty event might be a good way for your dcs to meet marathonman?
less formal isn't it?

sunshine13 · 03/07/2009 11:40

Just wondered what y'all are looking in a man? It seems that this is this the thread that has the most posts..

inthemistsoftime · 03/07/2009 11:45

yeah was seeing bob, but marathon man has always been on the back burner cos he was crap at communicating with me! Turns out he was a little shy of me

he has now changed very dramatically and I am happy with our level of txts etc,

might do a meet up at the park followed by ice creams, that'll do for my lot, they are so easily pleased!

My dd is a bit over protective of me, shes only ten but going on 20, she is the one I am most worried about.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 11:50

itm same age as ds1
an interesting age indeed!
and yes my son is fiercely protective of me too
he took the divorce the hardest
but i am confident that he's in the right place emotionally now to handle his mum seeing another bloke

inthemistsoftime · 03/07/2009 11:58

it might make it a little easier for my 2 as they know that daddy has a new partner, it is a normal thing to do.

how long have you been living apart from your ex asbm?

we have been separated for 8 months

ridingjoker · 03/07/2009 11:58

itm - i really am delighted for you. and also cant believe it was so long ago as feb. wow we really have been on this thread for a while.

asbm - i think its great the way you have the opportunity to introduce him at this local thing as a friend first. you can continue on the friebnd thing for a while with him visiting the house before dc need to know otherwise. that would probably be taken better by exh also. not that it matters. but anything for an easier life eh?

sunshine - thats like askinghow long is a piece of string.

but the generally idea amonst most on this thread is someone who understands our dc come first, is respectful, not a cock lodger, has a personality, doesn't itemise bills at dinner and split it to the penny , and good looking is a bonus

oh and some look for gardening and bonfire skills lol. only joking. they are the bonus's that come, which includes being nifty in the sack once we let them get that far.

ridingjoker · 03/07/2009 11:59

lou - also pleased for mandolin man is turning out to be a nice experience.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 12:01

well i've been divorced for almost a year now tho it took over a year to complete
have you started divorce proceedings yet?

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 12:08

hi rj!
are you all excited about tomorrow's hot date?
love your description of our ideal man!!
and let's face it exh will not be pleased regardless of how i play things
but thanks to the support of you lovely lot and my rl mates i know that i'll ride this one

ridingjoker · 03/07/2009 12:11

i am getting excited. we're going into edi now so we can both have a drink and get seperate trains home before too late.

he's quite a fun chap. have been out with the intention of buying 1 new top.

but it was one of those days where i actually seen stuff i liked and in my size. so i got 5 tops in ted bakers, 2 pairs trousers, lovely TB belt, flat shoes(cocktail is same height afterall so no killer heels), and lovely jewellery
think i got a bit carried away. but i will look fabulous hopefully.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 12:29

ohhh lush
i know you will

ridingjoker · 03/07/2009 12:33

bargain TB stuff too. was at the outlet. some of the tops i seen still selling in the proper full price store in glasgow too.

but odd that? full price in one place. discounted in livi. but i'm not complaining. just glad i held out till i visited livi.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 12:41

omg that's good going!
i do so love a bargain me esp.my lables lol

ridingjoker · 03/07/2009 12:46

i paid £40 for this belt

different shade of brown. more a tan colour to go with boots i already have.

one of the tops were £65 down to £15. most expensive top was £22. serious bargains.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 13:14

don't wash the belt
wtf?!

ridingjoker · 03/07/2009 13:26

i know. i had a wee laugh at that too.

bit of a weird update. so... tigger, yee of farmer come entrepenaur(sp?) come lone parent...... is from yorkshire originally?

what are yorshire folk like? anyone from that area? lol. only yorkshire man i know is my friends dad. who's aparently a "typical yorkshire" he moans at his misses shopping habit, is tight fisted, drinks lots of beer, but is very very nice old man imo.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/07/2009 13:39

think emmerdale lol

ridingjoker · 03/07/2009 13:43
