Have been with my DP nearly 2 years now after separating from by exh, the boys dad.
I worried how the boys would react at first as they had been through a lot, so took it slowly before involving them too much with DP, but they now ask when he is next staying & really seem to like him.

The other day, DS1 asked me when they would see DP again. I told him they would see him soon, then DS answered "Good - I like him because he makes you happy"

It hasn't been quite 2 years yet but only 2 months off 2 years. Time does fly!

It was a big fear how the children would take to him after my marriage break up, and I also worried how he would cope with the reality of me having two children as he has none of his own. He is great with them though & both boys like him. also, will you believe that yesterday we all got invited round to my parents for dinner!! Great progress when you think that less than a year back Dad didn't even want to meet him as his loyalty was with exh!

Hello Blu! Was thinking I hadn't seen you around for a while - how are things with DS?

Yes it was 2 years last month that I moved into my house! Still need to go to court to prove I have been separated two years for my divorce though because of the period of time we had to live together in that house when we first separated!!

Big progress with my family. They still worry about exh & still see a lot of him, but dad is friendly towards DP & on Sunday DP is taking my dad & BIL to play golf while we attend a baby shower for my sister! Wouldn't have believed this would ever be the case a year back!!

DP is a saint and a half, isn't he?

I have been offline quite a lot - work, and then we went to the lake district for half term - and I've been just generally a bit less Mn addicted, which is GOOD! DP commented on it the other day, that I spend a lot less time on the computer.

DS is doing really well. It's a year last Friday that he had surgery. This time last year we were in hospital and having a v rough time. I'm so glad it is over. There are bits I can't look back on without feeling sick. But it was just wonderful to see him in the lakes, scampering on the fells, wearing wellies for the first time in his life (it wasn't possible when he needed a big show raise). He was signed off from his reguar physio appointments last week, so, after a year, we're back to a normal life!

And it's all taken it's toll - I am out of touch with friends, DP and I had a rough time betwen ourselves...but now, we're concentrating on normal life and real life again. Another part of less Mn, I think.

Ahh, that is so lovely to hear. Really pleased your DS is doing so well - would love to see a pic of him now. Pleased things are getting back on track for you too & that you had a good holiday.

I haven't been on MN as much recently either. I pop on & off but am not on here a fraction of what I once was! Good to see your name again tonight though

It is. It was horrible having all that to deal with for the first year of our relationship - I felt it put a strain on us as a couple so I am so pleased!
