Ok so h and I split.

I'm unemployed at present.

When he moved out I let tax credits know and they've upped my payment.

H giving maintenance and am now getting the rest income support.

Do I need to let tax credits know the I'm getting maintenance as well? Just realised I hadn't updated them with the new information about the income support claim having been processed? Do they deduct maintenance my ex pays from my child tax credits? As Income support already take into account the maintenance my ex pays?

Sorry its so confusing! I'm just worrying now that they're gonna say that they've overpaid me and I'm going to get less - which means I have even less money than I already have !!!!!

What about nursery fees, would I get any assistance with that (DD 2 1/2) or would it wait until she gets her grant?

Thanks for help...

I worried about my ex p's maintenance too. I called tax credits and they told me that maintenance isn't counted as its not taxable . You might want to call them to double check as they can be a bit of a nightmare, I'm always double and triple checking stuff with them .

As far as I was aware any maintenance over £20 a week comes off your IS. I was told it didnt change your tax credits.

I think you get help with nursery fees if your working and claiming the working tax credit part. Im not 100% on that though, best thing would be to ring them to double check.

Dont worry you dont need to tell Tax credits about maintenance, just I.S.

Help with nursery fees is only available through tax credits if you work 16hrs or more per week.

Hope that helps
