So, as a 30yr old, would you consider dating a 22yr old ??

I know it is only 8 years but I am struggling to even entertain the idea, not really because of the age gap but because of him only being 22 iyswim.

well, I'm nearly 37 so not sure I can comment. I think younger than 30 would probably be a no for me. So on that basis I probably wouldn't have dated a 22yo at 30yo (I wouldn't have dated anyone at 30yo, I was pg and happily married).

Tortington · 06/04/2009 23:03

im not a single parent but if i was - i think i would easily fuck the brains out of a 22 yr old - as long as i knew that i wasn't looking for anything than a fuck fest in the short term.

HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:03

Yeah sorry, I didn't mean only 30yr olds can answer lol.

Everyone who I have mentioned it to thinks it is fine, even my mum which was a surprise, but I just think he is too young.

Tortoise · 06/04/2009 23:03

I am 31 and i think probably not. 22 just sounds sooo young.
The actual age gap would be fine though.

electra · 06/04/2009 23:04

It depends on him, I would think. I had a relationship with a guy who was 20, when I was 27 but he lied about his age (had told me he was 25!) I'm not sure how I would have felt if I had known beforehand...

HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:04

Ahh see, I can't do no strings shags, I just cannot, unfortunatly.

OP posts:
muggglewump · 06/04/2009 23:05

Probably not, I would have sex with him though
I'm 31.

DSM · 06/04/2009 23:06

I am 26 and my last 2 boyfriends were both 19.

The one before that was 39.

I don't think age matters, its about maturity.

HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:06

Yes see thats what I think really. Were he 25 and me 33 then that doesn't sound quite so bad.

I have had a huge age gap relationship before where the bloke was older, so I am not against age gaps or anything.

OP posts:
Tortoise · 06/04/2009 23:08

See, 25 and 33 just doesn't sound so bad for some silly reason!

aseriouslyblondemoment · 06/04/2009 23:09

doesn't that amount to the same thing really?
what's the background here?
what is it that you are struggling to entertain as such?
if you like somebody should age really be that important?

HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:09

Lol at the amount of people who tell me to have sex with him, or as my friend so nicely put it 'have a fiddle'.

He looks younger than 22 aswell which doesn't help, plus he is a really nice person and deserves a nice, uncomplicated, child free, young lady to have a relationship with not me.

So, on the basis that I think he is too young, am I then right in thinking that I shouldn't even go for a drink with him ?? Everyone seems to think I should, but I think that is unfair and could be seen as leading him on.

OP posts:
piratecat · 06/04/2009 23:11

depends on the person, on him and what he's offering. you need to make it clear what you are looking for whatever age.

I don't think that age difference is huge, but it does depend in what you both want.

electra · 06/04/2009 23:11

Oh, go for a drink with him - why not? So what if you have children? There are plenty of complicated people who do not have children...

HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:11

There isn't really any background.

I met him when we worked together a few years ago. I recently had to get hold of him again for something work related and we got chatting.

I do like him, I just think he deserves better and i don't mean that in an 'oh i am so not worthy of a nice bloke ' way. I just mean that well he is 22, he should be doing what 22yr olds do.

OP posts:
Tortoise · 06/04/2009 23:13

yes, do go out for a drink with him. Wouldn't hurt i don't think. And you might find the age doesn't matter.

piratecat · 06/04/2009 23:13

crikey, maybe he is mature and knows you are a mum and doesn't see it as a problem. Don't put yourself into a box, do that when you get to 40 (like me) and feel like noone would go for you!!!

HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:17

Oh yeah he knows I am a mum etc, said he doesn't think I am old infact I am hot apparently lol.

Basically we have been communicating via FB ( i know i know) and he has directly asked me out for a drin, but has so far offered to give me the addy to his flat so I could go round for a drink and asked me if i'd be in the same place as him on Sat night.

I haven't had a date in years by the way so I have no clue about anything.

OP posts:
HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:18

hasn't directly asked me out

Hmm, ok well if he mentions meeting up for a drink again then I will give it proper consideration.

My mum has already offered to babysit about 100 times since I mentioned him to her so that wouldn't be a problem

electra · 06/04/2009 23:24

All 22 year olds are different though. I hev known 22 year olds (men and women) who have their own business and those who are heavily into drugs. Just trying to make the point that it's more about him than his age imo.

electra · 06/04/2009 23:25

HFTF - asking for a drink is asking out imo!

HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:26

Oh yes I do agree Electra and i'd say he probably is quite mature for his age except for when he is with friends, but then that is really based on what I saw 3 years ago.

I will definatly give it some more thought.

OP posts:
HopeFortheFuture · 06/04/2009 23:28

Oh ok

I can't remember what I replied when he asked me if i wanted his addy. I probably changed the subject tbh.
