i was dreading today, i have been avoiding the shops and all things valentine, it is the first valentine day without my lovely DH, last valentines day he was in the hospice so lots of memories of that.
DS made me a lovely card and he brought me breakfast in bed at 6.30 am! the toast was lovely once i had picked off the bits from where is had been dropped on the stairs enroute. DS asked if he could marry me when he is old enough

aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! that's really sweet, what an angel.

glad you're doing ok, it must be hard going through all those special days for the first time. sending you lots of hugs xxx

slackrunner · 14/02/2009 20:20

Oh bless your ds OJ, and lol at the toast with bits on. I'm glad today was OK for you.

VinegarTits · 14/02/2009 20:20

Aww bless him, how could hairy toast and a comment like that make for a bad day

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 14/02/2009 20:21

Your ds sounds lovely oj.

There is something very special about a dc making Valentine's treats for a parent.

My dd (5) had a card from her boyfriend who is 3 weeks older than her!! It had a sweet sellotaped to the envelope.

xx

Bless your ds, OJ. Glad Valentine's Day wasn't too difficult. Another milestone - well done you.

Not comparable but today is my Mum's birthday and last year I phoned and said "are you off out tonight?" and she said "no, [d-step-dad] isn't feeling well". D-step-dad has never not felt well in his life. It turns out he has a thymoma and after surgery, chemo and radiotherapy is doing very well for now. I have thought about you all year, and everyone else dealing with cancer.

A day to remember our loved ones, we truly are blessed.

Miaou · 14/02/2009 20:38

OJ, so glad to hear you had a better day than it might have been. How sweet of ds!!

onlyjoking9329 · 14/02/2009 20:48

i feel very lucky today in many ways, i had the love of a good man for 17 years and i have the love of our three kids, tomorrow i am taking them to see high school musical on ice as a special treat for being so fab, we have a private box with food laid on and our own bar

How sweet Oj
Reminds me of my friends ds who made her marmite on toast for mothersday and the marmite was about an inch thick lol

onlyjoking9329 · 14/02/2009 22:34

well i think i got off lightly then, i wouldn't cope well with an inch of marmite.

Oj your kids sound wonderful that really is a testament to both you and Steve.

Glad the day was okay and enjoy tomorrow

dizzydixies · 14/02/2009 22:38

your kids are such a credit to you and Steve

I don't think I fared so well with my dad I sent him a photo of some cupcakes we'd made with hearts on them but I don't think he quite 'got' it. I can't really fill the gap my mum has left on Valentines though so am not sure what I should have done

shall have to try harder I think

LoveMyLapTop · 14/02/2009 22:40

Oh how lovley
has made me fill up

snifflewitch · 14/02/2009 22:43

This has brought back memories of making my mother breakfast in bed, dropping and breaking a glass jar of marmalade on the stairs and trying to get it up with a carpet sweeper

OJ - I think of you and MartianBishop often - today must have been very hard.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 14/02/2009 23:07

We love you OJ and have fun tomorrow, hope there is some rum and coke for you.

missorinoco · 14/02/2009 23:39

piratecat · 14/02/2009 23:52

tomorrow's treat sounds brilliant. glad your day was better than you had hoped for.

me and dd went swimming, later shared a box of chocs, watched a video and played silly bugger tickling games.

I feel blessed to have her dear love.

coppertop · 14/02/2009 23:55
