I will, but it will feel far less lonely and sad than when I was with horrible x, so it feels good to be on my own.

I know I will never meet anybody else though, so I never go round thinking that I might, hoping it'll be soon iyswim. I just don't contemplate it.

elmoandella · 02/02/2009 18:53

i'm not looking for a relationship either. it's nice to be single. infact i love being single. it's such a selfish thing to be aswell.

I've always found Valentine's day a bit contrived and embarrassing - I'm not single now, but I still don't celebrate it. Honestly, my favourite Valentine's day ever was when I was house and cat sitting and I went to bed with a box of bakewell tarts, a bottle of cava and the cats, and watched that night's double episode of Sex and the City. I still remember it fondly

whoingodsnameami · 02/02/2009 19:00

To me its just a normal day.

brazenhussy · 02/02/2009 19:19

Taking my two eldest daughters away for the weekend and won't give it a second thought

elmoandella · 02/02/2009 19:23

thats nice brazen. i like that idea.

I am doing nothing (that I know of) to me, al the days are the same.

If I were to do something, I might think about waking up early in the morning to make myself breakfast in bed. lol. on second thoughts, naaa, to much washing up to do after I get out of bed.

Keep the say, just the same as all other days - far simpler and easier.

mummyfantastico · 02/02/2009 21:10

It's the day after my birthday and XH has the girls so I am going for a piss up quiet drink!

elmoandella · 02/02/2009 21:11

My mother is here . So, cooking, cleaning, washing, and listening to criticism. Oh joy!

moosh · 03/02/2009 09:13

Well I'll probably have an argument with exp, as its his weekend with the dcs and he will want to go out with g/friend. That doesn't bother me seeing as I ended it but I am not sacrificing my weekend just because its Valentines and I have no one to share it with....
but my friends are out for a drink on the 14th and...by golly...I'm going with them.

sparklet · 03/02/2009 10:12

Supposed to be spending it with DP but not sure now, he's being a right pain in the arse! (see thread on relationships). Being single again sounds rather delicious...

Like what's being said here and daisyj, that sounds like the perfect way to spend quality time with the person you love!

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/02/2009 10:41

Its just like every other day to me really. But i might treat myself to some chocs and watch sex and the city movie alone in my lovely double bed that is so much more inviting now my lazy, gambling and quite smelly ex is no longer present.

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 03/02/2009 10:43

DOes anyone over the age of 20 really care? I only take notice of it from a selling point of view (ie markets, what can I ebay that might be 'romantic' etc) but as a longterm happy single person, it wouldn't occur to me to 'spend the day' doing anything unusual.

elmoandella · 03/02/2009 12:47

i'm over 20. and i care. i care about how you cant walk past any shop or view ANY type of media without it being forced upon my. generally i try and pick something to do to avoid too much of that on the day.even when i was with someone as they never actually did anything with it. i remeber going to dinner once with my friend on valentines and it was awful as everything on the menu was either red or heart shaped or said i love you...

Will be like any other Saturday here, which is fine by me.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/02/2009 14:27

Elmo over a week to go girl and you'll be er sorted by then lol!
goodness knows what i'll be up to its very much dependent on the babysitter exh and whether he cooperates
a nice evening in with a nice man would suffice
too cold to go out so would be happy snuggled up on the sofa with a nice bottle of wine after a lovely meal
he'd have to cook for me of course!

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 03/02/2009 14:56

Maybe it deosn;t bother me because I am old & cantankerous used to the bulk of mass media/advertising being totally irrelevant to me and most of my friends. IN younger days I used to quite enjoy VD as an opportinity for mischeif: I had a few acquainances who I would send cards to, spending lots of time hunting for either the sickliest or the most tasteless or overblown, and write stuff like 'I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE' in wobbly green ink inside. (Disclaimer, I only ever did this to people who have the same sense of humour as me and who would appreciate it).

I am not encouraging you to play mischievious pranks on XPs btw, or to send a box of chocolates only you've eaten the chocs and done a poo in it or anything...

elmoandella · 03/02/2009 15:06

bc i would go out. get trollied with single pals. and do michievous thing like grabbing mens asses. and when they turn round give them a score out of ten

but a respectable mother couldn't behave this way now could she?????

PurpleOne · 03/02/2009 15:51

elmoandella · 03/02/2009 15:58

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 03/02/2009 16:08

elmo relax
you'll be one of those lovey dovey types

and won't mention hair stroking/skin contact bit too early in the day for that

elmoandella · 03/02/2009 16:30
