and that is a resounding 'Bloody Hell but You're Amazing!'

I've never posted here before as I live with my dh and 3 children, but 2 nights ago when all 3 caught the 24 hour flash vomiting bug at the same time, and my dh and I were tag teaming it all through the night, soothing, calming & changing sheets, it occurred to me possibly for the first time in any real way that there are thousands of lone parents coping with things like this day in and day out on their own.

I hope its not patronizing to say that I think there must be really tough times when you parent alone and I applaud you for doing it! I hope you all have someone around to tell you that you are doing an amazing job.

That's all and goodnight. x

Its nice to know that other people do recognise that it can be so difficult sometimes.

The other morning my DS missed his school bus, it is very early and DD hadn't even had her breakfast yet. Luckly my NM was staying over so he got hauled out of bed and he made sure she was ready for school and left at the right time while I ran DS to school. If I was myself I would have had to leave her to sort herself out and leave in time, or take DS into school late. My whole week is a complicated timetable of drop offs and pick ups with no one else to help. And as you say when eitherof them are ill then it is game over.

Thakyou, I have 3 dc and a short while ago they all had gasterone tiritis (sp) and I can confirm it was bloody hard work, did not so much as even sit on my own bed for 46 hours

whoingodsnameami · 16/01/2009 18:34

48 hours.

mrsmortenharket · 16/01/2009 18:34

gastroentiritis?

whoingodsnameami · 16/01/2009 18:35

Ahhh, thankyou, I realised after I posted it was one word not two.

Hi, I just want to say the same. I am struck with nasty flu and DH has been working really hard and I have been STRUGGLING this week to look after 2 DC (2.9 and 9 months). I have thought of you all with awe and wonder. I want to give you all a hug and a day off!

PurplePillow · 16/01/2009 18:52

Thank you but I am lucky as I have a brilliant family and really good close friends who will help if I really need it

But on the other hand I get all the lovely stuff all to myself so it does make up for it

mrsmortenharket · 16/01/2009 18:56

especially the last bit of chocolate ice cream

PurplePillow · 16/01/2009 19:03

More like all the chocolate as DD is not a chocolate fan She would rather have savoury

EmilyandLola · 16/01/2009 21:11

on Wednesday night I was clearing up puke and did 5 loads of washing and sat up all night with DD whilst she was poorly - and all I could think was THANK GOD that I can cope with this - because if I can cope with this I can handle pretty much any thing on my own...

Thank You

(I applaud you for living with a boy....ewww ) lol
