You poor guys, you deserve a medal!

If I had a quid for every time I was told that I "deserve a medal"...
Not sure quite what use a medal would be. It wouldn't look particularly elegant on. How would you explain it in your display cabinet?! I can think of plenty of things I'd rather have. I would be really upset in fact if I opened all my Christmas presents and each one was a bunch of medals. Presented to me in virtue of my great achievement of managing to - would you believe it - live without a man. Who would have thought it could be done!
Can anyone think of any good uses? In case this medal ever materialises...

I am particularly bamboozled by the marrieds who pop up now and again on these threads and tell us how they can hardly manage as it is with their Hubbies, therefore we, REALLY. deserve. a. medal. Maybe life is easier single?!
Sick of people saying "Oh, it must be so hard for you, without a man to ferry you around". No, am pretty happy thanks love!

You could stick the medal up their arse?

Door stop?

Melt it down and use it to make something useful?

I'd rather be single than have a useless bloke sitting on my sofa, hogging my tv and farting.

CuddlyUnderTheMistletoe · 20/12/2008 21:55

No-one has ever told me I deserve a medal.

AnotherFineMess · 20/12/2008 21:56

I am married. I have said such things, but never with the intention to offend or patronise, just because I am knackered when DH works away and so do genuinely admire single parents who do a cracking job - but I guess that's not what you wanted to hear! Sorry!

deanychip · 20/12/2008 21:59

Me too, i cant get over what hard work it is with 2 of us and kids so genuinely dont know how you do it and think that single parents are fucking amazing...is that offensive?? really??

truly not meant to be.

I appreciate a little 'bigging up', personally. It's so crass to blow one's own trumpet!

LittleJingleBellas · 20/12/2008 22:08

Ah people are only trying to be supportive.

I'd rather that than them telling me I've made bad choices and am damaging my children by not living with their father.

I am warmed by your message Scrooged!
Cuddly: you deserve a rosette babe

I'm just saying it how it is. There's a huge amount of toads out there. I'd rather be single then stuck with one. I'd end up skinning it alive and eating it for my tea. Life's too short to be stuck with someone who makes your life worse.

CuddlyUnderTheMistletoe · 21/12/2008 00:13

A rosette? Now that's what I call damning with faint praise!

Thanks babe

or if we are going down that route:

((((HUGS)))) Hun!
